Virginia Avenue Dog Park

ATTENTION: this dog park is now closed for construction. (7÷8÷2015) Supposedly will take a few years. Unknown date of reopening.

Love this spot. I wish more dogs would frequent this park so my puppy had some more dogs to run around and play with.

Having recently moved to DC from Baltimore, we were worried about finding a quality dog park for our pooch. After trying out Garfield, Marion and Lincoln (all informal, unfenced spaces), we feel confident that the Virginia Ave dog park will be our regular romping ground.
The space has ample grass, a couple of trees for shade (depending on the day) and access to water for drinking– though I do not know if this is sanctioned– many visitors run across the street to fill a large plastic container from a hose at the spay/​neuter clinic across the street. Nothing crazy fancy at this dog park, but good people, nice dogs, and room to play are enough for us. We will still visit the aforementioned parks because our dog is good off-​leash and it is nice to mix it up sometimes. But Virginia Ave will most likely be our twice-​a-​day spot. Glad we found it!
