My favorite DC coffee shop. When I am able to convince myself to step outside of Starbucks, I find myself here. The coffee is delicious, reasonably priced, and there is a wonderful ambiance. The only downside is people tend to post up here for hours on the weekends, so I recommend arriving early if you would like to do the same!

I just want to say that Tynan’s signs on their chalkboard outside are hilarious. They make me laugh every day on the way to work. Their coffee is great too! I only get one thing though, the coffee con leche and it is good!

They have decent selection of tea and coffee. The atmosphere is also well lit and comfortable to work or chat with friends. However, there’s something with the unfriendly service. I went there twice and I regret both visit. Better to hang in other coffee places in Columbia Heights!

This place kinda sucks, although most of the employees seem ok. They’ll survive because of their location but their coffee is pretty mediocre.

This place has great breakfast, we’ve sampled the breakfast sandwich, breakfast blt, locks bagel, and waffle, all solid choices. However, the reason for the 3 stars is because of the time you have to wait to get your food, even if no one is in there you’re waiting at least 15 minutes and there have been a few times they have even forgotten that you’re sitting there and waiting. To add to this, on one Sunday as I was sitting and waiting for my food the two employees working proceeded to get into an argument about who’s making the food while several people are waiting and yelling at each other about who wastes time playing on their phone. Just very unprofessional especially when you’re a customer that has been waiting on your food for 20 minutes.

Coffee is delicious and pastries are pretty good too. As a few others have said, their customer service isn’t great. Shout out to the female staff: the first time I came here one woman took my order and served me within one minute. The second time I came here it took three men to take my order, make my iced coffee and hand me my muffin. I waited for at least seven minutes, I didn’t get a smile, a hello or a thank you. Next time I’ll check to see who’s working before giving them my money and time.

Their spiced chai latte is my favorite I’ve ever had – iced or hot. If you like creamy chai, order it! Always has a shorter line than the Starbucks around the corner during peak hours, and has plenty of seating for studying or a long chat over your coffee. Good, chill music. Haven’t had the food, so can’t speak to their speed on that but the coffee doesn’t take long.

This is my favorite coffeeshop in DC. It has everything: *Mere steps from the Metro, but around the corner and out of sight from the chaos of 14th Street. *Excellent strong ice coffee. *Delicious food options. *Efficient service. *Good music selection. *Three blocks from my house. *Plenty of space. If you are unwilling to cross the street from Starbucks for your coffee at Tynan, you are wrong. If you cross the street from Tynan for coffee at Starbucks, you are a Bad Person.

I love the atmosphere. Very moderate prices and the staff are friendly. It’s a great place to sit and have a great conversation with the many different choices of tea and coffee choices. They also have an all day breakfast menu and snacks and such. I wish to buy a cold brew kit when I come back. I forgot to mention that there’s outside sitting and it’s roomy inside. Finally the music choice is awesome !!!

I stopped by here for breakfast. I Can’t complain about this spot. Mocha coffee and sesame seed bagel — $ 6 Chill atmosphere. Great place for a quick first date before a movie or a long night. Service was quick and good. They have these cute red mugs for your coffee if you eat here. I agree, sucks you have to buy something to use their Wi-Fi, but hey, if I was a business owner I’d do the same. They promote the«free» Wi-Fi, but technically, it’s not free. Not a biggie though. 4 stars.

Grabbed breakfast here with a friend on the way to work this morning and it was really good! We both had breakfast sandwiches-hers with bacon on sourdough and mine with turkey sausage on English muffin-and I had bites of both and they were really good(mine was better but don’t tell her that)! Grabbing a cup of coffee to drink in store is worth it just for the adorable mugs. If you’re into sweet drinks, her vanilla chai was EXCELLENT.

Nice coffee shop in the middle things in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. The atmosphere is nice, clean, modern and not as sketchy as Panera across the street(which has free wifi and refills of coffee, plus more space and is a bit more cozy imo). I do not like that you have to buy something to use the wifi. Lame. The food is also a bit overpriced for what it is(a waffle and whipped cream for $ 6?). Pastries are generic and overpriced. The house coffee is very rich, not to my enjoyment. When I was here last, there was a employee YELLING the drink orders once they are ready — really dude? This isn’t a huge place and you are yelling at me as I am, well, not trying to be yelled out. Thx. Its right next to the metro which is great. A few spots outside too. 3.5 stars.

Get the breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. This is also a nice place to sit and hang out, if you can find a seat. There aren’t a lot of great coffee shops in the immediate Columbia Heights area, and this one beats Coffy Café.

This place gets 3 stars because the food was tasty but customer service sucked! We took a walk around the corner to grab breakfast here. The ambience is quaint… definitely a coffee house feel. A few people were scattered throughout on a Saturday morning. Customer Service gets 1 star. The cashier seemed less than interested at being at work or helping us. We ordered and sat down. She seemed annoyed that I had the audacity to even ask if the breakfast sandwich could be done with egg whites only. Well they eventually called out our drink orders and actually bought our food to the table. Quiche was fluffly and flavorful. It was definitely reheated but tasted fresh. They make the waffles to order for the breakfast sandwich which my boyfriend enjoyed. The funny part about the end is that the cashier seemed like she didn’t want to break a $ 10 bill when my boyfriend asked and then I told her«he’s just trying to tip yall» and then magically she was helpful… smh… Improve the customer service and this could be a nice neighborhood coffee house.

Irving &14th Street is a busy, loud, populated, and hectic corner in Columbia Heights. Tynan is the perfect escape from this hustle and bustle, and has the service and quality to keep me coming back. There is free wi-fi available, and plenty of room for folks to post up and work. I appreciate that folks keep the volume down, and there isn’t some annoying rock playlist bumping through the speakers.

Located in the dirty gritty crux of Columbia Heights, this place has everything. It has coffee, a million types of teas, and tons of delicious food. Nightlife designer Tranny Griffith is back with an all-new coffee shop that answers the question, «Coffee or Tea?» Don’t look for a bouncer — there isn’t one. Instead, the door’s guarded by 10 jacked homeless guys in old-fashioned bathing suits. There are geeks, sherpas, a Jamaican nurse wearing a shower cap, room after room of broken mirrors. There are smart looking people doing work on their computers and utilizing the ample sitting room. There are clones, freaks, sneezing, a Russian man on a prepaid cell phone, and anyone can get in – there’s no password. At the door, just do the Cosby face. There’s even free wifi and nice paintings by local artists all over the walls. Also, outdoor seating for when it isn’t freezing outside. Pricing is on-par with Starbucks(there’s one located across the street). (Disclaimer: 50% of this review is borrowed from a certain SNL legend. If you don’t get the reference, what is your life?! This is my favorite coffee shop in the Columbia Heights area! Their latte’s are incredibly good and even better iced. Yes, the service can range from pretty awful(forgot to add coffee to my latte once — really!) to pretty great. Their tea comes with sand clock timers which is always fun. Again, it depends on the person working there at that time and their mood which can get annoying. I wish it was more consistent. Most of their food is not made on site but from a local chain — the muffins and croissants are yum. This is a great place to pick up coffee before work or actually work there — i see people with their laptops all the time. They do have a wi-fi limit of 3 hours and keys for the restroom — but i don’t blame them for that! The tiny outside patio is great for summers. I keep going back for the great latte’s — love the flavor of the roasted coffee beans in it!

One of my favorite local coffee shops, Tynan Coffee & Tea is the perfect place to crank out some work, catch up with friends or just enjoy a relaxing morning with the Sunday paper. I prefer my coffee black or black on ice — so I can’t speak to the fru-fru-frappacinos or white chocolate mocha’s — but Tynan pours a mean coffee. I highly recommend pairing any coffee drink with a breakfast sandwich(egg, cheese, turkey sausage and bagel). If I worked for Washingtonian Magazine, I would probably be awarding Tynan best breakfast sandwich in Columbia Height(its in the top 10 for the greater DMV area, for sure). The ambiance is causal and there always seems to be a nice spot to sit down without feeling overcrowded.(This can not be said for other coffee shops in Columbia Height — cough, cough, Starbucks or The Coupe). WiFi is also free for your first two hours with any purchase and if they aren’t busy, they tend to not kick people off after their two-hours are over. I“m a big fan. You should be too!

This is my go-to place to focus and pound out some work. I also really like to come here and meet a friend for coffee. Their coffee tastes good and also they serve it in these amazing, lopsided coffee mugs that are really cool. You have to see what they are to know what I’m talking about, so just go check it out for yourself. They play great music that is loud enough to block out other sounds, but not too loud that it’s distracting or that would overpower your headphones if you wanted to listen to something else. It’s pretty big with lots of seating and I rarely have trouble finding a place to sit. Plus they have WIFIONTHEWEEKENDS. That’s really the absolute most important part. Their food is not great. I’ve eaten it when I was starving and not ready to leave and stop working. So my advice is to make sure you’ve eaten before so that you don’t get stuck eating a mediocre sandwich like I have. I’ve had the fruit smoothie-it’s okay. I’ve definitely had better before and would skip it. But, when they have pumpkin spiced lattes, get them! They use real pumpkin and it tastes so much different and better than Starbucks.

Got an Iced Pumpkin Latte — blerghhhhhhh. At least the place was cute! But what was not cute was the fact that I had to go up to the cashier once for the bathroom key and then again for the wifi password. seriously what’s a girl gotta do to just go pee and get some work done. Plus the drink was icky.
