The guy who runs this company(Tom) is a crook. Don’t do any business with them. My fiancée and I used Tristate to move her things from NY to DC and store them for a few months until our eventual move to CA and had an AWFUL experience. The manager we dealt with, Tom, was very nice and accommodating during the sales process but then turned aggressive and non-responsive immediately thereafter. Every time he charged us for the move or the monthly storage fee, we had to follow up multiple times to get an invoice explaining the charges, and we had an even worse time trying to get our things picked up for our final move-out. We wrote to him several weeks before we needed to move to ask how we needed to proceed to arrange for our things to be picked up, and we got a few one-word answers the next week. When we confirmed the moving date, he told us that the warehouse was too busy for pickups for two weeks surrounding that date and that we’d have to wait because other customers had already paid deposits to secure those dates. He didn’t respond when I reminded him we’d already paid him over $ 4k for moving and storage, nor did he respond when I pointed out that we’d mentioned those dates several weeks before and he’d failed to let us know they weren’t going to be available. Right now we’re looking at hundreds of dollars over our initial budget to get another company to pick up our things from Tristate a week before the move, store them for a week, and then move them.

I’ve used them a couple of times now, and I’ll be using them again if needed, they’ve always been polite to me, very careful with our belongings, the pricing is competitive but the service was outstanding. Thanks guys, hopefully we won’t move again anytime soon, but if we do, I’ll give you a call.

DONOTUSE. THISIS A COMPLETESCAMANDTHEYWILLTHREATENYOUTOPAYBYNOTREMOVINGYOURITEMSOFFTHETRUCK. I hired Tristate movers at the last minute because my building required insurance for the building and the company I planned to use did not have it. They estimated that it would take about 2 hours to move my one bedroom apartment. I was only moving about 0.2 miles away down the street. Everything was packed I just needed someone to help me with my large furniture. It was $ 150 base pay and $ 75 per hour for 2 hours. The two men working were slow and rude. I even have them on video just standing around and not working until they saw me. They moved only the headboard of my bed 10 feet in half an hour. They ruined my brand new couch and broke my bed. They took around 5 hours to work and charged me over $ 900. When I called Tom he told me they wouldn’t take the items off the truck unless I paid and said that«I was being rude and bitchy.» I couldn’t believe the tone he used with me. He said I was«whining» and couldn’t say anything nice about the two workers. I had to pay because my time with the elevator in my building was expiring. I called Tom again and he used the same tone with me and laughed when I said I’ll complain. He was extremely unprofessional and incredibly rune. I am convinced this company is just a scam and they strong arm people into paying when their services are not what they advertised. I am a local attorney and I am writing a letter to the Better Business Bureau in hopes that this company gets shut down or investigated.

I called them they told me they are pro– movers. For a 2 bedroom apartment will only take them5 hours. When they came to move my stuff it took them 11 hours and the guy I the office is rude, does not care about anything but money. He was not polite. He said if you don’t pay they guys will not take anything off the truck. So I was forced to pay over $ 1500. I will not use them or recommend them for any one. They are a rip off and they charged my card twice which in still fighting them to get my money back.

I hired Tristate movers for a moving service for a move from a 1-BR Apartment to a Residential home which is 3 miles away. I asked for 3 movers and a truck and the sales rep told two people are enough and they will complete the service in 3 hrs of which 1 hour is travel time and they will charge 75 per hour for a total estimate around 300 dollars. On the day of the move, after we reached our new home, the movers gave me a bill and said that I have to pay 778 dollars in total which is twice the initial estimate, prior to unloading our belongings. The hourly rate also increased from the initial quote of $ 75 per hour to $ 78 per hour I called up Tom at Tristate and was asking for an explanation. This person informed me that the conversation is over and if I don’t sign the bill, the movers would not unload my belongings and take them to storage. In short, Tristate was threatening me, by saying I needed to sign the bill in the next 10 minutes — which I found to be highly unprofessional. I was forced to sign a bill, that was not properly explained to me and also had to pay before to my belongings had been successfully moved into my new home. I still have not seen the itemized bill. The movers also charged me for using tape to close my boxes, even though I was not informed of there a being a charge(also overcharged). I am completely disappointed by the service I received, and appalled by the lack of professionalism and customer service experience from this company.
