I used to come in here all the time when I lived in the neighborhood. Their burger was among the best I’ve had in DC — clearly house made and always cooked perfectly. I went on Monday for the first time in about 6 months and it was kinda awful. The burger was clearly a frozen patty, similar to one that you’d receive at a church cookout and cooked well done(even though I ordered medium rare). My partner got the salmon and it was just okay. It was served on a lattice of asparagus(?) half of which were too reedy to eat. I’m not sure what changed, but I don’t think I’ll be making the trip back any time soon. Seasonal sangria was delicious as always and service was fine.

Really liked their food and drink specials, was very busy which is a great thing for the business. Would like more inside eating space as the outside is off a very busy street and ambulance/police sirens whizzed by every 10 min or so… it’s a little obnoxious. Our server was nice but seemed flustered and overworked, had to ask twice to check on a drink.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while! My roommates and I walked in the rain and it was so worth it. We all started off with various wines and mixed drinks since wine is $ 2 off til 7. Drinking in DC is always expensive but it didn’t kill me here. I had the Heidi(chicken with bacon, Guac, aioli, etc) which was amazing. Also split the appetizer Mac n cheese with my roommate – good god was it delicious. It’s national donut day so the chef even made some homemade donuts to finish it off! Great food and drink, and we only ended up spending a little over $ 20 a person, which is really not bad at all for everything we got. Highly recommend visiting for dinner.

Great neighborhood bar. The bartenders are amazing and friendly. For being such a small bar the food is also really good. Our favorite is the Heidi chicken sandwich. But I have never had something I didn’t like there. In the summer the patio is nice and dog friendly. North Cap can be a little noisy but we never really notice.

This place won Best New Bar in D. C! They won for good reason. It’s laidback, yet choosy and manages to have none of the pretense of trendy bars. It’s just cool because it’s cool. Staff is excellent, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure that you are satisfied, enjoying yourself or are otherwise well-pleased with the food, drinks, service or all of the above. They’ve got a library with an interesting collection of books. They stock unique local brew and spirits. And their brunch is out of this world. Music selection is on fire. The varied menu has many options for vegetarian, paleo, primal, keto and many more diets/lifestyles. Five stars for the brussel sprouts alone. People’s burger and Heidi are hearty sandwiches. We will keep on coming again and again and again! It’s our best new bar too!

If you want creative cocktails and great food, hit up P&P! The drink menu is many adjectives: interesting, extensive, savory, sweet, smoky… so good. Definitely one of the best drink menus in the area. I can’t resist a good burger and this hits the spot with meat or vegetarian choices, served with killer French fries that always lead to an empty plate. When I’m being healthy, I’ll substitute the side salad and that’s always fresh. Top notch neighborhood joint, just wish this was walking distance!

Such a good vibe. Great selection of beer, spirits, and such. It’s nice to sit at the bar when the weather is beautiful, as they open the windows and feels like you’re outside. They have good outdoor picnic table seating, too. I’m a fan!

My first brunch at P&TP and it was great! I had to eggs in Purgatory, and I loved the spicy tomato sauce. However, the sauce did make the grits really soupy. My friend had the chicken and biscuits and said the gravy was amazing. The environment is relaxing, but it gets pretty busy once it hits noon.

Came here on a Saturday night with a couple of girlfriends. Even though it was the optimal hour, we were all able to get seats at the bar. I highly recommend sitting here. You get a nice view of all the crazy books that take up the space that their vast collection of spirits doesnt. Our bartender was Nick(I think that was his name) who was very attentive and always seemed to hear us even when it got loud. They have a nice tap/bottle list. Their food was great. We all shared their falafel appetizer(really good) and then ordered our separate entrees. I decided on The Heidi(Hay-Dee) a ridiculously delicious chicken sandwich that arrived piping hot and didnt last long on my plate. It was just what I needed on a chilly night. I really liked this place and foresee many more visits.

Occupying a great single-story corner building on North Cap in Bloomingdale, The Pub & the People is everything a great local bar should be: cozy, friendly, and delicious. But it’s more than just a local bar, it’s a gastropub, whiskey bar, and local all rolled into one. Although the space is small they dug out the basement for storage and to have a place to put kegs. Much like the space, the bar is long and narrow. There are 10 drafts, including Baltimore’s Oliver 3 Lion Ale and Old Ox Porter. Over 65 types of whiskey, 13 types of Gin including Blue Coat and Green Hat Navy Strength, and Ivy City add to your drinking pleasure. The food menu is eclectic too, with Asian and Middle Eastern influences. I had the pulled pork banh mi served with the(mostly) traditional fixin’s of pickled daikon, cilantro, chicken liver mouse, jalapeño, carrots, sweet Asian pepper BBQ accompanied by «camotes locos»(sweet potato fries). It left me satisfied and wanting to come back for more.

The greatness of Bloomingdale continues with P&P because too many options isn’t really a thing. P&P is a great bar with friendly staff and a chill atmosphere. They have what is in my opinion the best burger in Bloomingdale, but my favorite go to item at P&P is the Heidi, which is a fried chicken sandwich that comes with cheddar, bacon, and a chipotle aioli. Usually comes with guac but I ask them to hold it off which they do without any problems. They also have a great skillet mac and cheese too. Have no doubt, this is a pub that’s for the people. So the people should definitely check this spot out if they haven’t already.

I was here for dinner last night with a couple friends, and we loved it. Their cocktail list is pretty neat, and I adored the Strawberry Shrub as well as the hot spiked cider. I had the Heidi Chicken sandwich, which was killer and the fires probably some of the best I’ve ever had. My friends both had a noodle bowl, which was great, but could have been a bit hotter and need some more spice. We also shared the Mac and Cheese which had a bit too much garlic but still good. They have a killer beer and liquor menu. We ended the night with bread pudding, which was my favorite part, I highly recommend. The only reason I didn’t give this place five stars, is that although our server was very nice, she wasn’t super attentive. She forgot our appetizer, and we were grateful she brought it out later and took it off our check, but then during the meal she didn’t come over to check and we would have loved some hot sauce.

I was feeling under the weather so I looked up the menu online and decided to order takeout. When I called the restaurant and ordered the mussels and hanger steak I was told the menu had changed and the mussels were no longer available. No problem. I ordered just the steak and headed over to pick up my food. After paying for the meal I noticed that the steak dish I saw on the menu online was no longer the menu at the restaurant. I asked the waiter and he replied«yea but it’s the same cut of meat.» I replied that the sides are different(I was allergic to one of the ingredients in the dish). The waiter apologized and offered me a drink instead of a refund. Needless to say the $ 24 meal I ordered ended up in the trash. See attached photo.

Went here for brunch with a girlfriend and it was just what we wanted. A fun, inexpensive brunch with a chill vibe, good music, and awesome service. The food was good. We got there at 2pm for the brunch so they were out of a few things, but were really accommodating with substitutions. The biscuit sandwich was a standout. Killer biscuit, which is hard to find in DC, and the eggs in purgatory were good too but they needed a little more spice for my taste. An added bonus, they had inexpensive mimosas that didn’t give me an all day hangover… All in all, solid. We missed the opportunity to order a waffle as a second course, but will be back for that. Their beer and cocktail list was extensive and would definitely have something for any beer or cocktail aficionado. The bartenders and servers really make the place fun and friendly. Just what you want in a neighborhood bar/restaurant. If I lived in the neighborhood I’d be here all the time for a drink and good company and this would be a great low-key date night place.

Good, but not great. I like the vibe and the beer list. I went for dinner with friends on a Saturday night at 7pm, and we were able to grab a table(you seat yourself). Service was friendly. The veggie burger wasn’t the best. It tasted fresh, but the mix of flavors wasn’t to my liking. Way too sweet with the soy sauce and it fell apart very easily. The fries were a little undercooked but tasty overall. I would return, particularly because I want to like this place, but I will likely try something different.

Great addition to Bloomingdale. Now I’ve lived in the area for 2.5 years and have heard nothing about Pub and the People! I don’t know why, because they have great food, a great happy hour for you beer lovers, and cocktails to compare with anything you can get over on U Street for a bit cheaper. Though all that written I think the best under praised thing about P&P is the service — excellent waiters that just make you feel at home. Glad to see Unilocal is praising you P&P and will be back soon.

Update: They now have brunch. And OMG. The graham cracker waffle is a giant slice of heaven in my mouth. Also, I’m pretty sure Drake wrote«Best I Ever Had» about the biscuits and gravy. SIXOUTOFFIVESTARS! Great vibe & even better service. Plus, how could an artisan cocktail not be absolutely delicious when whipped up with the utmost care & creativity by this friendly, handsome fellow?

One minute review while I’m out on the town: The cocktails are great and a bit adventurous. Watch out for the mescal margarita. It’s delicious yet smokey. The entrees are delicious. DELICIOUS. Try the Hanger steak. There is a small kitchen here and I was impressed by their speed. There a many small tables here. Great for groups of ~four.

This is exactly what I’ve been searching for since I moved to Bloomingdale(no, Boundary Stone we aren’t breaking up). Not only is this bar close, there is outdoor seating, awesome staff and an extensive selection of whiskey, ryes and bourbons! My boyfriend and I swung by The Pub & The People on a summer Friday and it couldn’t have been better. Keep in mind, you need to see the host to sit outside, don’t just sit at the tables and expect service. We opted to sit at the bar to get the full experience of the new pub. Sitting at the bar gave us the opportunity to talk with the bartenders and one of the owners. Our main focus was ordering as many bourbons, ryes, whiskeys that were new to us on our short stop at The Pub & The People. Though I must say, the woman next to use ordered a burger and it looked immaculate! Next time I’m at the Pub I will be sure to have a burger and bourbon I have yet try! I’m coming for you The Pub & The People, see you soon!

Took us a while to be able to grab a seat here, went the first week it opened. Was really crowded. Hopefully it’s a little better now. Cute little place, not a lot of space but well put together. Nice bar. Cocktails are excellent. Can’t remember what we had but multiple drinks were quite good. I recommend. Food varies depending on what you get. I recommend the tuna dish, I really liked it and it’s healthy. Will return, though its rather pricey.
