The National Swedenborgian Church

Came for the memorial service of a friend. Seems weird and wrong in a way to write this review given the seriousness of death and loss, but the deceased was all about being yourself and changing the world for the better, so here I am on Unilocal trying to do that in my own small way… The service was on Friday evening. The church was beautiful, and if you find yourself in the need to book such a thing, well I’m sorry for your loss, and this is a very nice place to get together and remember your loved one.

We had a gorgeous May 2011 wedding at Church of the Holy City at 16^th and Corcoran. My husband and I fell in love with the stone structure, bell tower, gargoyles, stained glass and big yellow front doors with black hinges. We explored almost all of the DC churches that do non-​member weddings and found that the fee here is among the most reasonable, will be used toward the belltower restoration project and is also considered a donation for tax purposes (i.e. tax-​deductible). Our first contact was with Elfa but James is truly the wedding coordinator who shephered us through the process. He’s also an amazing florist and we hired him for both our ceremony and reception arrangements. This venue also has great prep space and is very flexible as to your choice of officiant. All in all a very positive experience and a very photogenic venue. Thanks!
