The Embassy Row Hotel

Attended an event on the rooftop and it was great! It began at 6pm, which was a challenge commuting from the Baltimore area, but we made good time and arrived shortly after it began.
The front desk staff were pleasant and we were directed to take the elevators from the main lobby to the 9^th floor. Once exiting them, we had to walk up two small flights of stairs to reach the rooftop. We passed the main rooftop area, which had its regular happy hour in progress, and made our way to an area just to the side, where my event was in full swing. There were appetizers, nice bar area and a cupcake table. The service was top notch. The view from the rooftop was nice.
All in all a wonderful evening for a great event. I will strongly consider visiting the Embassy Row Hotel for their happy hour and maybe a weekend stay as well.
Valet parking was available (and I strongly encourage it) for$ 15 after 5 pm, which was a bargain for the D.C. area, but we had our ticket validated at the event (and again at the front desk just to be sure) so we paid nothing! This may be available for guests as well, but don’t quote me on that!

Oh where to start. We stayed at the Embassy Row Hotel for my bachelorette party. We rented the suite and a double queen room.
First, one of the rooms didn’t have AC, so we call the front desk and they try to tell us that it is working, and that we need to «move around in the room.» I get how the AC works, but we had been in the room for 2 hours and it was 86 degrees. After «moving around» for another 30 minutes, we finally got them to send up the mechanic and switch us rooms.
Second thing, my fiancé wanted to send us champagne and a card. It took 4 phone calls and 3 emails and they still sent the champagne to the wrong room and the note didn’t say what he wanted it to say.
Third thing, ANTS EVERYWHERE!!! The 2^nd room of the suite was INFESTED with ants. They were in the bed, the tables, everywhere. We called about them and they basically said, too bad. They sent the mechanic to look at it, but we never heard anything back from them about the ants. It completely ruined our mimosa brunch plan, because the ants infested our OJ and donuts within minutes. The grossest thing I have experienced, and they were completely unapologetic about it.

Edit 6.7.2016 After posting reviews online, the GM got a hold of me and was very apologetic. I appreciate his concern, although I wish these things had been addressed before we left the hotel.

This modern, comfortable Dupont Circle Hotel boasts clean rooms, a terrific bar and lounge area, and good service. I spent four nights here during a recent business trip to D.C., and while my room was a bit undersized (and lacking in basic amenities like bottled water, a mini-​fridge or a view), the outstanding location made up for it. The DuPont Circle Metro station is right around the corner, and there are dozens of great restaurants within walking distance. The Embassy Row Hotel is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a good home base in our nation’s Capital.

Hotel charged me an extra $ 20 for hotel services fee leisure. Was not informed of this while checking in or anything. Valet is also a ridiculous $ 53 after taxes. Unacceptable. Won’t be staying here again

This hotel is fabulous! The décor is super chic & elegant, which is just my style. I stayed here for 2 days on a first trip to DC. The room was flawlessly clean and beautiful.
I will say the customer service lacks a bit at this hotel. The gentleman who checked me in wasn’t very friendly and no one went out of their way the entire 2 day stay to say hello or good morning EXCEPT for the maids I saw as I exited my room. Even the valet men were very to themselves. Perhaps, it’s a DC thing. The customer service sucked in DC pretty much everywhere I went.
If you book this hotel know two things:
1) There is no free breakfast. They only provide you with a voucher for a free coffee at their super overpriced café downstairs. I don’t drink coffee so this didn’t help me.
2) There is no mini fridge in the room. Although you can rent one for a fee. This was pretty disappointing.
Overall though, I absolutely loved my room and didn’t want to leave! I was up on the 6^th floor with THE BEST VIEW anyone could ask for of Embassy Row. If I’m ever in DC again I would come back because of how wonderful the rooms are not the staff.

While I did not eat here or stay rather long, I do have to say this is one of my favorite hotels in DC. Very charming and trendy, plus the staff was über nice and accommodating. The rooms are a little small, more on the NYC size if you ask me. They are tastefully done and lighting is great! The location is wonderful, a quick walk to great bars and restaurants and right by the metro for access to anywhere in DC! Overall I would recommend and stay at this hotel again!

Stayed one night for a pre Valentines celebration in the city. Checking in was a cinch, granted there was no line, but what count was I was greeted with a smile. Having the hotel be pet friendly was a major plus since I forgot to find a dog sitter.
As a lot of reviews stated, the room was on the small side with the bathroom taking up a third of the space (it was a nice bathroom). We noticed that the room was super cold so we cranked the thermostat to 80 and ran some errands hoping that the room would be nice an toasty by the time we got back. The heater was apparently on the fritz since it was still pretty frigid. Called the front desk and they had someone up within 10 minutes and had the heat cranking in another 10.
I really would have given a 4.5 stars but the system wont let me. Everything else service wise, was great, unfortunately, I was not able to explore the rooftop pool as it was 8 degrees outside.

Nice décor in the rooms and the check in desk/​lobby area is nice… other then that I can’t say nothing much really …
Considering that a large staircase leads up to the lobby and nobody outside to help with you luggage is kinda crazy. Maybe they have someone outside when it’s during holiday season but other then that you can schlepp your bags yourself up the stairs.
Large lobby with restaurant/​bar of some sort but it’s closed after 10. No room service, no mini bar, no real snacks to purchase or gift shop. Not even a bottle water in the room.
Am I to spoiled??? Well it’s a 24hr cvs close by so go stock up on food you might need!
My room was cold, heater never produced any warmth.

It’s a beautiful hotel with chic décor and patterns throughout the hotel. We stayed in the winter so we couldn’t use the pool or anything, but the other amenities are great. The husband and I were excited to stumble upon the different gaming options by the fitness center!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We even got a sample of peanut brittle when we checked in. Yum yum. I would definitely stay here again.

I had an awesome two-​night stay here. I ended up at the Embassy Row through some Priceline magic and was thoroughly impressed.
The common spaces were clean, bright, and well maintained. I printed some stuff for work in the business center, which was a breeze to use.
The room was also top notch — comfortable beds, a small but nice bathroom, everything in good condition. Not an amazing view but it didn’t really matter.
The front desk was helpful when I wanted some tips on how to get down to the mall for a morning run, too!
I would definitely go back here if I could afford it at the normal price!

This hotel is FLY! I mean… I was a little taken aback by how cool it is. I visited for a Unilocal event, and will definitely be returning for a «staycation» in the spring and summer months.

This hotel is gorgeous! Upon arrival the Bellman Mesfan greeted us and took our bags from our cab straight to the check in desk. He was very pleasant, professional and helpful. Check in was a breeze we came before check in time which is at 3 and our room wasn’t ready but Wanda took care of everything and made sure we got a room quickly.
I highly recommend this hotel! The rooms are clean, modern, outlets everywhere, bed was comfortable. Bathroom a tad bit small but it was only 2 females so we made it work. I would definately come back here… infact we are alreadly planning our next trip back to DC and we will be staying at this hotel!

Ok rooms. Good location. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced with the people at the front desk. If you want to be charged for extra rooms, accused for booking inaccurately and be ignored and disrespected when trying to explain that your credit card showed a charge you did not approve, this is the place for you. Furthermore — this establishment apparently has no manager. He is «unavailable for the next 3 days» and «reachable only by email». They admit no fault in reserving rooms despite calling them directly to do so.
Later when asked about how to access the internet, I was blatantly ignored and then dismissed saying computer service is downstairs. When I ask again I get a valid answer but again the staff at this hotel is just rude! I do not recommend this hotel. They surely know how to ruin a trip!

First off this location is top notch. DuPont circle is a fun area and it’s a nice walk to the different office buildings for work. The food was excellent for breakfast. I didn’t get to check out the pool area but I’m sure that is great.
Now for the areas of improvement. At check in the guy was really nice, after he asked if I wanted to pay to upgrade my room and asked me if I wanted to donate to a charity. He never mentioned my restaurant credit the hotel was running when I signed up so I asked about it. He didn’t know and called my room to say yes I had it, I asked if the amount was per stay or per day he didn’t know so I kept my breakfast light. I personally would change out the lamp by the bed, it’s hard to turn on or off the light when your room is dark. I only had one bar of soap so I had to bring it from the shower to my sink each time, not significant just a little annoying.
All of that is little stuff that with little changes can be fixed, as reflected by my 4 star review of this place. The one thing that is major is how gross my vent was, something like that takes awhile to get that dirty, I took a picture to show the front desk when I was checking out but they never asked how my stay was. I would rather have addressed it with the hotel instead of posting here but I had too many little things.
I will stay here again, just hope minor corrections and training is done.

The Embassy Row Hotel is beautiful, centrally located, and pet friendly. All reasons why I chose to spend a couple of nights there.

Cons:
–The Beds aren’t very comfortable. The mattress in my room was old and in order to provide some «softness» they placed a cheap foam (not memory foam) pillow topper on it. The bed was loud and creaky.
–Don’t expect any breathtaking views. Looking out my window I see a brick wall, some heating and air units and the neighbors apartment.
— The doors. All night, the sound of slamming doors echo through the hotel halls. I know this may be more of a guest complaint but my room door stuck and it took me forcefully ramming it to open every time I wanted to enter the room. Perhaps others were having similar issues which caused the loud slamming all night.
–Mini Fridges are reserved for Premier Members. If Super 8 and Best Western can provide all their rooms with mini Fridges, I think this boutique hotel should start doing the same.
Overall:
The hotel is … ok. I don’t see myself recommending it to anyone.

Lovely hotel! My first time checking out this hotel was for Unilocalchella and I had a blast. Nice rooftop pool and love the décor of the floors I got to see. The front desk was super helpful, I had asked to check in an item and had no problem. They took my item and gave me a ticket. At the end of the night, an employee returned it back to me. Would love to book a night here for a nice «stay-​cation»

Beautiful hotel!
I came here for Unilocalchella and it was amazing! So many floors and so much happening on each level! Way too many things to name. But I will say, my favorite part was the rooftop patio! Omgosh! Talk about an amazing view. Wowzas! Modern patio furniture, outdoor bars, pool… and once again, that amazing view! Ah! Living the luxurious life!
I’d love to come back here just for the heck of it one day soon. Looks like a fabulous venue to spend some time!

I spent the weekend here during the MMM & absolutely loved every minute! after a 4 hour drive the only thing we wanted to do was relax for a bit before heading out and they gladly let us check-​in early without hesitation! the place feels like you walked into a House Beautiful photo shoot, every detail was thought out perfectly! while the room is smaller than standard, it was the perfect size to sleep, shower & change! There’s too much to see and do in and outside the hotel to be worried about how small the space is! since the weather was sunny for an October weekend, we checked out the rooftop and had breakfast in their outside balcony. There’s so much to mention here so if you’re visiting DC I highly recommend Embassy Row! The free library box outside was also a nice treat! Thanks to however left the Sartorialist, a great coffee table book!

I may have rated this place higher had I not had certain expectations going in. I booked through Travelocity and I believe they erroneously have this hotel rated as a 4 star hotel. I booked it thinking that it was a bit more luxurious than it truly is.
I stayed for three nights. The day of check in they had some event in the hotel. There were not enough staff and it took quite some time to check in and retrieve my one piece of luggage that I had stored earlier in the day. They charge you $ 15/​day for a «resort fee». Well it rained the entire time and was only about 50 degrees so obviously I was not using the pool. You get wifi and one cup of coffee at the hotel’s restaurant. They do have coffeemakers in the room but the coffee they give you is horrendous, don’t even bother. There’s a Starbucks one block away.
The hotel is really cute and I loved the look of it. However, the rooms just lacked a bit. The bathrooms are super tiny and it’s not really possible to take a bath. I guess you could but it’d be pretty cramped. There is no mini-​bar or bottled water in the room (yeah, I’m a sucker and sometimes I just don’t want to leave the room if I want something right now). The bed was pretty comfortable. As other reviewers have mentioned, the door slamming is a serious issue. I don’t think you have to slam the door to shut it but people probably just let the door swing closed and it slams. The housekeeping staff also starts rounding at 8 am so you won’t be sleeping in, that’s for sure.
The location is really nice, it’s about a mile to Georgetown and a mile to the very edge of Dupont Circle. Would I stay here again? Depends. If other hotels in the area were way more expensive, then probably.

Rooftop review:
Pool is clean, but small. The décor is modern and fun. There’s a small bar with a limited variety of drinks. Definitely arrive before noon If you want a spot in the cabanas or beach chairs. We came at 9:30 am to redeem a Gilt voucher for the rooftop and were informed they weren’t taking the vouchers due to a special event (Labor Day party). This was our 2^nd attempt to visit the pool and it was getting really frustrating. We weren’t planning to be at the pool during the event and asked if we could stay for a few hrs. The manager was nice to let us in and said we can use our voucher another time. I’ll update this review after we redeem the voucher and try some of the food at Station Kitchen.

A cool roof top, a little swimming pool, a nice bar, … there are many great things. But the valet parking here is not organized well. I had to wait for as long as 30 minutes to pick up my car. It’s pricy but cheap if you pay in advance at parking panda on internet. They have many promote codes too.

This is MY SPOT! Where else in DC can you find a GORGEOUS rooftop pool that the public can enjoy for free-​99?
Ever since I discovered this place in July, I’ve been back to swim weekend after weekend. It’s very metro accessible from the DuPont Station, so walking here is a breeze. The venue is nice, sexy and intimate, and the DJ keeps the tunes spinning while you swim. From 5 – 10 PM, Monday-​Sunday, the pool is open to the public for free. All you have to do is simply make your way up the 9^th floor and enjoy!
They have a bar and a chef on the grill so you can enjoy tasty food and yummy drinks while you dry off in a nearby cabana (free — the cabana, not the food/​drinks lol).
This pool isn’t the largest, but it’s a nice size for a mid-​evening dip during the hot DC summer days. It ranges from 4−5ft, so small kids shouldn’t really «play» in this pool. Additionally, I’m 5’8, but the «5ft» level had my face nearly almost underwater… so if you can’t swim and you’re shorter than me… I would stay out of that section lol.
Overall, I’m so glad I found this gem and wish I had found it sooner, but I will be here ALL the time next summer! Love u embassy row ! Xoxo

This hotel is chiq, stylish, newly remodeled, clean, and has one of the best looking hotel rooms I’ve stayed in (even though the bathroom is a little small). I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely stay here again.
The front desk staff was also great.

This place has a rooftop pool that they open up to the public. It is amazing! The pool is a bit small but it gets less and less crowded from 6pm on. All the items on the menu was $ 10 and I had the crab cake sliders which came with free chips and they were fantastic.
The drinks for happy hour were also rather reasonable.

Recently renovated and very modern! The customer service was really good. They helped us extend our stay and responded quickly when we told them that our AC wasn’t working.
Facilities were comfortable, but I was disappointed there was no mini fridge or slippers available in our room.

Super cute hotel! The décor is very modern and artsy. From the lobby to the room to the rooftop. It was all gorgeous. I’m sad I didn’t get a chance to try out their restaurant or coffee shop, but I’ll be back to do so! The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were adorable, but a bit small. My room only had one bed, so maybe the two beds rooms are a bit more spacious.
The rooftop is only open until 10PM on a Friday, so I only had time for one drink. But, it was really nice up there! If you love the details to a hotel then definitely check this one out. You’ll be blown away by the art. :)

Embassy Row Hotel is a newly renovated and chic hotel right in the heart of DuPont Circle. Embassy Row is so centrally located that depending on what room your staying, you might be treated to a view of DuPont Circle or some other beautiful landmark in the area.
My stay at Embassy Row Hotel was last minute because I originally booked the Capital Hill Hyatt for two nights but I found myself needing to stay a third night and thus my change. Now, Embassy Row Hotel is no doubt, a great place to reside while in DC. The rooms are newly renovated and so you can’t go wrong. The staff is very friendly, attentive and professional. However, I feel an ingredient was missing. I’ve stayed at many hotels and I must admit I walk in with an expectation of unified front of excellence because that’s what hospitality means to me.
Now back to the staff, as I mentioned, the staff was good but after a few minutes, I got the sense that the few staffers weren’t operations form a common vision or focus. It’s had to describe but I would have liked to have seen a unified wave of welcome if you will. Similar to what you get when you board a cruise ship; everyone speaking and acting out the vision of the hotel. It should be something your feel upon arrival. Again, the gentleman who checked me in was nice but it appeared that everyone else was distant or distracted.
On another not, I did have the opportunity to have a bite to eat in the beautifully appointed dining area. However, that was after being told rather rudely, we are not a restaurant. I’m not sharing this to get anyone in trouble but to point out that — that bit of information was totally unnecessary. My focus would have been to promote what you do offer instead of what you don’t. That particular morning, I saw the manager walking around making sure things were going well, I only wish he had stopped at my table to say hello and to get a feel for my comfort/​satisfaction. On another note, my breakfast was excellent and the tall man serving me was a delight!
I want to point out two other things that made my trip less then perfect. When I called to make my reservation, I was told there was a difference between a standard room and the Ambassador rooms. I was told the Ambassador room would have a view and when I arrived to my room, I was disappointed to see that the view I was lead to believe I would have, ended up being a view into the rooms of other guest. So, please make sure you confirm with the front desk before going to your room. Another thing that troubled me was the lack of accessibility of the rooftop. As a guest, I wanted so desperately to experience the beauty of the rooftop but due to radio station Hot90 whatever it’s called, I was not able to. The following day, there was another private party and even then, there was no guarantee that I would be able to enjoy it when it ended.
Honestly, Embassy Row is a great hotel and I’m not going to take it off my list but I will say, make sure your expectations are met. If I received a courtesy call from the front desk asking if things were ok, I probably would have mentioned a few things but never the less, perhaps next time.
