Ended up on WUSA9 after attending the Redskins vs. Eagles game here. Very small bar in Adams Morgan. Nice friendly crowd and quick bartenders. There is not alot of room for seating so everyone was crammed standing. Been here a couple times and 2 doors down from Jack Rose.

Straight-forward neighborhood bar… good food… cold beer… cool atmosphere. The best place in the city to catch a Skins game. This is the type of spot that can easily go unnoticed, even for frequent AdMo visitors.(The Gatsbyesque façade of the upscale whiskey bar next door sucks up all the oxygen on this block.) But this small dive is a refreshing change from the typical DC sports bar: Washington sports fans actually show up and cheer for the home team. The food is typical sports bar fare: wings, burgers, sandwiches, etc. Well executed(I’m a big fan of their Rueben), but not exactly a foodie’s paradise. They have a pretty good beer rotation, but if you’re a complete snob for crafts you might be disappointed. Everything is priced fairly cheap, especially for AdMo. But what truly sets this place apart is the gameday atmosphere. I’ve been for a few Wizards games and was surprised to find that they had the game on most tvs, with the sound up and actual fans watching. Not typical for a DC bar showing a regular season basketball game. On my most recent visit, the Skins were playing for a division title. I got there about a half hour early thinking I’d be able to get a seat at the bar. Wrong, the place was already standing room only. By time the game started, it was completely packed. It felt more like a college gameday crowd than a DC crowd– people were cheering from start to finish, booing every questionable call, and chanting«You Like That!» every time Cousins made a big play. Another big plus is the customer service here. The bartenders are super friendly and easy to talk to. Because this place can be low volume(especially when games aren’t on), they’ve developed a knack for taking great care of the customers who do come in. If you’re looking for a delicately crafted cocktail, rare bourbon, or impossible-to-find microbrew, this probably isn’t the place for you. But if you wanna get super casual and have a beer in a laid-back environment with a chill crowd, this is your spot. And if you’re a Washington sports fan, this needs to be your go-to.

Nice spot to have a few drinks and watch some games. The bartenders were great. They definitely knew what they were doing. Gets a little too crowded for a tight spot on the 1st floor but it’s expected.

I highly enjoyed this place for a lot of reasons: Great food, bartenders know beer and can make recommendations, welcoming staff, great playlist. We decided to pop in for a few drinks before going to Keren for dinner. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity at Keren and watching someone eat food off of another table’s leftover plates(desperate times?), we decided to go back to the bar. The door guy recognized us and helped us get a table even though it was slammed. Food was awesome and atmosphere is great!

Wish I could give negative stars this place sure earned it! I came in here to get a friend and they refused to let us in because we were in Baumba for brunch. But shockingly another one of my friends went WITH us to brunch and was already in the establishment. Wonder what was the difference? Hmmm??? Maybe it’s because she was a very attractive Caucasian girl! And as an African American woman, accompanied by a middle eastern man and gay man weren’t welcome. Then the doorman CLAIMED to be the owner and still refused to let us get our obviously intoxicated friend from their establishment. Maybe your sons of anarchy knockoff doorman shouldn’t make up his own rules and apply them when he feels like it.

Some people hate that they can’t get in… But it’s a great place if you aren’t a drunk ass who gets turned away.

This is a really cool neighborhood bar. The owners, and the bar itself have the vibe that they went through with the idea that a group of friends has about buying a bar. The food is good, I highly recommend the wings. The drink prices are very fair and the happy hour runs until 8pm most nights. Its a really cool bar, great places to watch a game. The kicker for me, and one of the reasons that I will be sure to continue to come back besides the good food and drink prices, is that the owners seem to really care about making sure their customers are happy. I came in one night and was over charged about $ 8 because an employee forgot to factor in an extended happy hour. The owner apologized and gave me a $ 10 voucher for my next visit. To sum up, awesome bar, awesome specials every day of the week, go grab a pint!

Get beer specials during any DC sports on TV normally with sound. Fast friendly service. Great non processed real chicken strips.

We’ve been going to the Blaguard since they opened. Great neighborhood feel and classic bar environment. The food was always decent, but they’ve definitely stepped it up over the last two years! Excellent burgers, wings… pretty much anything I’ve eaten there over the last few years has been great. Great beer selection. They have decent variety without overwhelming you with 1000 different beers – a trend I’ll never understand. I typically avoid Adams Morgan on the weekend, so I can’t speak to the crowds on a Friday or Saturday night, but happy hours and Sunday afternoons at the Blaguard are my happy place. Put me at the window seat on a sunny day and I’m all set.

I wish so much that the Blaguard was in Mt. P so I could stumble home every time I ended a wonderful night there, but if it was around the corner I’d probably spend too much money, develop a drinking problem, and gain a bunch of weight from too many orders of delicious fried pickle chips… and wings… and burgers. Sigh… why can’t Mt. P(or CoHi for that matter) have a place like this… I’ll keep dreaming. The beer selection is always good(around 15 taps that change fairly often) the happy hour specials are amazing(½ price burger mondays, 5 – 8 mon-fri cheap wings, $ 2.50 tallboys, $ 4 drafts/rails), the food is exactly what you’d want for bar food(get the fried pickle chips) at a good price, the bartenders are always so nice and chill, they always have sports on and will do what they can to play what people want. Did I mention the pickle chips? My only complaint is when it’s too crowded because some co-ed sports team has commandeered the bar for its post game celebrations. But that’s not really a complaint against the Blaguard itself, that means they are doing something right… I just always want a seat.

One of the best happy hours in DC. Great spot for wings and beer and just a great bar feel. Also a great spot to watch any kind of sporting event although it can get packed. If you live in Adams Morgan or anywhere near it this can easily become your favorite neighborhood spot.

This is a small neighborhood bar. My friends and I came one night for happy hour. I made it there just after happy hour ended. Oh well. I ordered the lemon pepper wings. I consider myself a wing connoisseur, so I feel qualified to offer an opinion. These were the best wings I have had in a bar in a long time. They were tasty; the breading was just the right thickness. Best of all, the wings were cooked all the way though. That hardly ever happens! They give you enough blue cheese to last through all the wings. The bartender and food runner were awesome. I felt like they actually wanted me there. That doesn’t happen in bars very often. I’ll definitely return.

I like this place. A friend who lives nearby took us here on a random Sunday evening. Everyone was extremely nice. I thought it was a dive bar(nope sports bar?) until I got into a long discussion with several Cowboys fans who never lived anywhere near Texas. But I didn’t care. The jukebox played«I Want It That Way» and I was in heaven. I must note that us plus one other woman were the only females in the place for reasons I do not know. It took a while to even notice since we weren’t being harassed like in some of the other places nearby. We didn’t stay long, but I will definitely be back to check out Happy Hour.

Phenomenal bar, great service, friendly atmosphere, good regulars. Food is real good bar food, try to mac and cheese. Cheap cold beer, lots of sports. Excellent local pub.

Awesome little bar on 18th street. This place is no frills, is small and can get packed in the afternoon and don’t look for an intimidate conversation because everyone there is loud. Nice jukebox system that allows you play a variety of songs. Plenty of TV screens including a projection screen for game watching. The Happy Hour specials are really good, low prices on beers and rail drinks, bartender can pretty much mix you up whatever you’re looking for. Speaking of bartender, he was good. He appeared to know several of the patrons so I assume it is the kind of place you go to a couple of times and they remember you and what you like. Standard bar food, you don’t get anything fancy but they do a good job for what they offer. I especially enjoyed the tater tots that were cooked nicely with just a dash of salt. Fried chicken sandwich was okay, definitely nothing special but it did the job to fill me up. Great little place to have a quick drink, decent bar food and having overly loud conversation with other low brow drinkers.

I really like this Adams Morgan neighborhood. I mean, I don’t see me ever living here but I think it’s a cool place. So here I am, walking along and suddenly I got very thirsty. And there’s the Blaguard and it looks more of a dive bar than a sports bar, but there’s nothing wrong with that designation. I popped in. A few friendly barflies were in attendance at 5:00 in the afternoon and they were getting very tipsy. Yep, they even bought be a drink. Hell, they insisted on it! I had that, and my one beer to soothe my sore feet and thirst, then I was back on my way. A neat place, the locals are fortunate to have it! Not just Redskins, but there’s a ton of National’s stuff too.

Mixed feelings about this place. There are twenty beers on tap which is great. However, there is no beer list so you will need to eyeball the taps which is kind of a pain in the ass. Some of the beers are local which I appreciate. Redskins images are everywhere in here — and they suck. Someone had to say it. That having been said, I had a good time here. There is nothing pretentious about this place, its casual, and bantering with others is not unusual like it is in some places. I like it for what it is.

I really like the Blaguard, but it is one of those places that I have a hard time putting my finger on exactly why. Is it the huge beer selection? yea I like that Is it the giant projector for watching sports? Well yea that is nice How about the good inexpensive food? Hmm the food is good The Blaguard has something more than all those though. It has personality. It is one of those bars where you randomly have a good conversation with someone sitting next to you. It is one of those bars where the owner introduces himself as he pours you a free drink on your first visit. It is one of those bars where it seems like they aren’t really trying to be anything in particular and it just works. Somehow when sitting on an old wooden bar stool with people pushing past you you just feel comfortable here. So I don’t know exactly what it is, but I hope the Blaguard keeps doing what it is doing(or not doing) because I like it.

Fake Hipsters. Mustaches. Unilocal Check-in Deal. Yeah — this is my kind of place. The drinks are strong and keep flowing and the beers are cold and crisp(if that’s your thing; I stick to the cocktails). This is not the place to go to if you are really looked for ambiance. Head next door if that’s the case. However, if you are looking for a good time or ready to start off the night right, The Blaguard will do the trick.
