They make great sandwiches here and this is my first time here. I ordered the Caprese sandwich and it’s probably one of the best Caprese sandwiches for the price. Normally Caprese sandwiches from other places are watery and just don’t taste good. This sandwich hit the spot. I cannot wait until SUNdeVICH opens shop in Georgetown!!!

Delicious! The sandwiches are very creative and big enough to share. Great lunch option.

I had the Seoul sandwich! Absolutely delicious. Bulgogi beef tender and well-prepared. Great balance of sweet, savory, spicy and acidic flavor. Kimchi and Asian slaw added wonderful textures. I got two meals out of this sandwich. Will be back!

Mmmm… was excited to try because I love a good sammie but this was definitely an underwhelming experience. Love the alley it’s located in and the guys working there were cool. I was recommended the bulgogi sandwich but I eat versions of bulgogi on the regular so opted for the Jamaican sandwich instead. Meat was pretty bland and it definitely could have used more of that pineapple salsa. Also, pretty sure all the sandwiches would be 10x more bomb if they used better bread. Bread is key! May come back to try the bulgogi sandwich if I’m ever in the mood and in the area… The guy next to me had some type of beef sandwich that he seemed to really enjoy though.

I love this place. I love how fast the service is and how much bang you get for your buck. Don’t be discouraged by the lunch rush hour line — the fast service takes care of that(plus the sandwiches are worth it). My personal favorite is the Seoul. Do yourself a favor and add an egg to it; you won’t regret it.

*Written in my best Hubie Brown … You’re in DC. You are an East Coast guy who loves living in the nation’s capital but cannot find a good sandwich to save your life. You’ve been to Taylor Gourmet and are consistently overwhelmed. You know they pulled a rope-a-dope and substituted their Sarcone’s rolls with a ill-designed knockoff. Now, all of a sudden, you’ve found this place called SUNdeVICH. Artsy-fartsy name, you think. You order a simple steak, onions and chimichurri sandwich on a long roll. You are prepared to be disappointed. But the disappointment never comes, and you look back on the last seven minutes of eating and realize it’s the best seven minutes you’ve spent in the last month.

Well this small sandwich hole in the wall happened to treat my tastebuds just PERFECTLY and its personality made we want to come back even more. Warning, the sandwiches are HUGE! Granted, they are around $ 12 which is a pretty penny for a sandwich but the amount of food you get with it is enough for a meal and a half, I promise you will not be disappointed. Came in with a friend and we split a salad and a sandwich. Should have split a sammie and a side salad because this was way more than enough food. Went with the kingston which was labeled as «spicy» but not too spicy for my taste buds(as I am dousing it in sriracha). Chicken, pinneapple, yumminess. The man at the register said this was one of the more popular sandwiches. The ones with lamb looked intriguing, can’t remember the name but the top one on the menu! Also — speaking of the menu, super fun and trendy menu! Written on a chalk board and colorfully well done, loved it. Service was fast and helpful. Me and my friend were clueless souls walking in a back alley of shaw to find this place. If you don’t know where it is it definitely wouldn’t be able to spot — tgod for google maps. Please note — they are not open on Sundays! Took about 5 minutes for our food to be ready. We sat inside(not sure they have outdoor seating when its nice) but space inside is extremely limited. Probably less than 20 seats and everyone would be packed in nicely, didn’t deter us! Best part of the whole place was the atmosphere! I have a new succulent obsession and they had a whole mirage of cool plants on display. Made me want to hangout here!

If you’re a vegetarian, walk in with some swag and say, «I’ll just have the Cairo… and I’ll have a spicy Cole slaw with that!» Then somewhere halfway through that sandwich, you’ll hit«PAY» on your Chase iPhone app and reward me for recommending this place. Don’t mention it. And don’t pay me, just eat here. Was here on a conference at the Walter Washington Conv Center and refused to eat the industrial food warmer lunches on offer. Instead, walked a few blocks over to here and felt like I was in a corner of Chicago’s Humboldt Park. You can always stop by at La Colombe and grab a house coffee beforehand. What a classy neighborhood. Amazing sundevich-es? Maybe, pay me? Oh, and the carnivores seemed pretty content in there too…

I love myself a good SUNdeVICH! The sandwiches here are delicious! The service is friendly and quick, and did I mention the sandwiches are delicious? SUNdeVICH has a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. Being from Miami, a city home to many Latin restaurants, I had to try the Buenos Aires sandwich. The Buneos Aires is a steak sandwich on a baguette topped off with chimichurri and sautéed onions. Mmm! Although it didn’t taste exactly like the sandwiches from the Argentinian restaurants back home, it was delicious! If you’re hungry(which I was) you’ll be able to chow down the entire thing, otherwise I can see how someone could half the sandwich into two meals. With minimum seating, SUNdeVICH may be a grab-n-go for some, but I got lucky. Definitely a must if you’re in the area.

The sandwiches here are quite good. My favorite is the Istanbul, but really, all of them are worth trying. The service is usually friendly and pretty efficient, especially granted the crazy lines that I usually encounter here. I definitely recommend planning on eating your sandwich elsewhere, just because of how crowded it gets in here.

Yum! I ordered the Capri but when I tasted my date’s Seoul I had major food envy. The highlight of the meal may have been the eggplant dip, which was fabulous leftover as well.

Wow. The sandwiches here are fantastic! Plan for takeout. But if there happens to be available seats, consider yourself lucky. This place’s entrance is in an alleyway and not on a main street, so it’s easy to walk right past it. You should see a small line outside or people eating their sandwiches casually in the alleyway. There is a good selection, maybe a dozen, of sandwiches ranging from Korean to Spanish to many other combinations. 1. Seoul: this is composed of bulgogi with some pickled veggies on a baguette. It’s as absolutely delicious! It’s well-wrapped in brown paper which helps hold the sandwich together. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. 2. Pulled pork: Yum! Loved this one too. The pulled pork was really well done and not too salty. Again the same baguette, which was really crispy. I was still hungry after eating one sandwich but I think it’s because it was so good. Otherwise it was a standard sandwich. This is a must visit place if you’re in the area.

These sandwiches are unbelievably delicious. I’ve tried the vast majority of them and they are all ungodly delicious. It’s ALLABOUTTHEBREAD when it comes to sandwiches and this place nailed it. These sandwiches arrive at the intersection of perfection. They have the best bread baguettes coupled with flavorful fillings. Things that you’d normally not think go together are paired beautifully in these sandwiches. Such as the Kingston, which is a spicy jeep pork combined with pineapple and other ingredients. On this visit I ordered two sandwiches, yes I love them that much that I couldn’t decide which to get so I got both! I ordered the Tehran and the Beirut. The Tehran was more of deli sandwich with cold cut mortadela, feta and other herbs while the Beirut had hot steak, tomato, lettuce and other flavorful garnishes. I routinely come back here and try new sandwiches because of the variety of options and the amazing array of options.

I can’t believe it look me so long to try this place! The gourmet sandwiches here are da bomb. Even better than Taylor Gourmet! I was stuffed after eating half my sandwich but tried to keep going purely for sport. Not super cheap for a sandwich, but the portions are big(and let me reiterate how tasty it was). They have a sandwich representing just about every cuisine from around the world, so there’s something for everyone here. We got the Paris and Seoul, and I loved the Paris. The eggs over easy just makes it! The Seoul was good, but I will probably try something else next time. The flavors sort of reminded me of a banh mi sandwich, which I have gotten cheaper and better at other places. There is very limited seating inside(tiny place), so best to take your sandwich to go.

I love SUNdeVICH because I love long sandwiches on French bread that are packed with delicious ingredients. They’re all on the pricier side but I’m always full after I eat one of these sandwiches WITHOUT a side item which is a miracle for someone as hungry as I am all the time. I know I should branch out but most of the time I get the Beirut, the Istanbul, or the Buenos Aires because I need more beef in my life and I like herb-y toppings. The shop is small and really made more for take-out than anything else. I’ve seen people working on computers here which boggles me but I guess you can do that. Service is quick and there are usually specials on the chalkboard

I love this place. The sandwiches are enough for 2 people, served on thick baguettes, lots of good juices and spices. The Athens is the sandwich I never leave without, but I’ve also had(and highly recommend) the Seoul, the Kingston, Buenos Aires, and Havanna. There’s this great balance of flavors in all the sandwiches, whether it be that meaty richness and the sharp tang of pickled veggies or spice and heat paired with some sweet elements. The hummus is reaaaaallllly good as well… and the soup… the soup is good too :)

We split the Kingston. Which is $ 10 for a decently sized sandwich. Here’s why I didn’t like it. As with many other places. Sundevich falls into the trap of allowing their sandwiches to be dominated by a robust, chewy bread. While this did a nice job of soaking up the sandwich’s juiciness, it pretty much masked any of the flavor present in the chicken. Unfortunately I was nonplussed by the fact that they call this a Jerk Chicken sandwich. It did not at all resemble a jerk style chicken. In fact, it had very little flavor at all. The chicken, which was of the breast cut likely, was definitely overcooked as well. It’s like they boiled it for several hours. This left it completely devoid of any of it’s natural juices and also provided for that almost sticky, stringy, dry mouthfeel that I deeply fear when approaching a first bite. Although Zagat gave the food at SUNdeVich a stellar rating, I cannot advise you go there based on this singular experience. Look elsewhere for a good sandwich in DC.

Had the Buenos Aires.(steak with chimichurri) I had to look up the recipe for chimichurri, cause I always make mine with red wine vinegar. When I didn’t taste a bit of the sour, I had to double back and make sure I wasn’t wrong. Had the olive oil, the bitterness of the parsley, possibly some garlic and red pepper, but no vinegar Naw, I’m guessing they didn’t add any to this batch, or they don’t add it at all. Other than that, this place is my own personal dream come alive. I need to come back to try a few more of their sandwiches, but this one was a bit of a dud.
