After a decade of disastrous therapist hopping, I felt pretty hopeless and gave up until a friend insisted that I try talking to Dr. Van Wagoner. I see him weekly, for over a year now, and the changes I see in myself are remarkable! He is a consummate professional who is also compassionate and empathetic not to mention as ethical as they come! While he does not take notes(which I actually prefer), he seems to remember nearly everything we have ever discussed. I have a long way to go and am happy to have Dr. Van Wagoner by and on my side. I very highly recommend him to anyone searching for a new therapist or who may be pursuing therapy for the first time. My only regret is not finding him sooner. Be well and good luck on your journey…

He seemed warm and enthusiastic when I had my introductory meeting with him, but during my next four sessions, he did not ask me about my family history, took no notes, and fell asleep during each session. I felt uncomfortable opening up to him, but did so anyway in an effort to «make progress.» In the end, I just felt embarrassed, cliched, and self-indulgent about the issues I wanted to work out, because I felt as if he wasn’t listening at all(which was proven when he would ask me questions about things I had already talked about). My insurance would only pay for one out of every four 45-minute sessions, so I definitely paid for the bad experience.
