There are two Starbucks locations in Union Station and I think people are a bit confused when they are reviewing because I see that there have been a few pictures posted of both locations. My understanding is that this location is in fact the one that looks directly at the Amtrak/train entrances and NOT the front doors of Union Station. That being said — I have a hard time loving this location(much like the other as well). I just don’t think people really want to be working there and it really does show. I’ve been there a few times — at different times throughout the day — and still the same. In and out, nothing happy about it. I’ll continue going because I love Starbucks’ coffee and these are my only options throughout the work day — but I don’t go expecting much.

This starbucks location was outrageous! Very rude staff! I am a type that will never back off if you pissed me off. First was this asian cashier who was rude, it was early morning and with a scowl on her face. I ordered a java chip frappucino with extra whip cream. Then the barista gave me my order, but with no chocolate drizzle on top. I asked her nicely to put the drizzle and she suddenly told me «you shouldve told that to the cashier!» WTF??? I order this drink like twice a week and i know it should be added automatically. Then she threw the double whip cream away and instead, put a single whip with drizzle. Again, i asked her very nicely, despite her rudeness, to put DOUBLEWHIPWITHDRIZZLE just the way i ordered it. But she said that i cannot have a chocolate drizzle and double whip at the same time, it will be messy! I told her i dont care if its messy she needs to give me what i ordered and paid or i will call her manager. Geez… How can she be so d*mb?

A star Starbucks is a Starbucks, but what distinguishes this Starbucks from the rest is the staff. It’s a product of a major transit station(Union Station) and the staff(at least the morning staff) are all about efficiency and getting you on your way with a good cup of coffee in hand and they do it with a smile on their face. The staff are even on their A game when they open at 4:30AM putting you in a good mood before you catch that 5AM train.

This review is intended for the satellite location near the Massachusetts Ave entrance. Worst Starbucks ever. Rude and unfriendly employees. They don’t smile. They don’t say thanks. Charged me for a new grande iced coffee when I asked for a refill for my tall, burnt my bagel. I accidentally left my used coffee cup on the counter, I apologized and to my surprise they made a huge fuss about it. Other Starbucks would have said«No it’s okay, have a good day» instead

Very rude employees! They lack customer service skills and don’t know how to smile or communicate with customers. I ordered a Starbucks double shot espresso. Not only did they seem confused on how to make it but it was also watered down. My husband had them replace it with an iced latte that sill fell flat.

This is my «home» Starbucks. The staff is always friendly and efficient. They are usually pretty busy, but they work hard to keep the line moving. They often have to deal with some pretty rushed(and rude) customers, and still they keep smiling and keep the coffee flowing.

Feeling very defeated in all areas of my life right now… Completely predictable spot… interesting for people watching… Service a bit on the slow side during busy morning and lunch times…

Although this is the closest place to get a coffee after I get off the MARC train in the mornings, I’m done giving this place a chance. The baristas are quick and somewhat attentive but my major gripe is with the cashiers and the one lady in charge of pastries. The cashiers are rude, semi-attentive, and unfriendly. The lady in charge of pastries is condescending and has a nasty attitude. On several occasions I have seen her heat up my pastry only to throw it on the counter without saying anything. When I get a chance to ask her if this is the pastry that I ordered(I’m not about to touch someone else’s food without asking if its mine first), she rudely responds«It’s been sitting there for a while, can’t you see?» I’ve contacted Starbucks about this worker. Unless you want to start your day off in a bad mood, do not visit this Starbucks location. The service is disgusting.

This store is generally buys given the location — folks want coffee when waiting for their Amtrak train to arrive! The location is quite small considering the foot traffic here. The line generally overflows outside on to the station area and that sometimes causes a bottleneck for folks walking around the terminal. Drink quality is a hit or a miss — depending on the number of drinks being made at any given time, how tired the barista is, and if the trains are running on time. There is no causal correlation between the drink and the train performance :) Sometimes, I have had my drink ordered being mixed up even tho they write your name on the cup. But getting a drink at Starbucks makes the rest of the travel experience(WMATA or Amtrak) that much more bearable.

This location is extremely busy and over the years has had inconsistent service. There’s a mixture of regulars from a nearby office building and travelers passing through Union Station. When the«A» team is working, they are extremely efficient with a pleasant staff. When Sophia is working, things tend to go very smoothly. She knows her regulars and their orders. One of the friendliest Starbucks baristas I’ve come across, despite working in a very challenging environment.

For the iced coffee connoisseur this is the right spot. For us hot coffee people take a back seat. Staff are a bit unorganized. I had 5 people behind me get their iced coffees first. After looking hard enough at the preparer, she finally asked me what I ordered and she put it on someone else to make my latte. Time between order in and out was around 12 minutes. The coffee was a bit weak considering I ordered a quad shot. I regret I didn’t give myself enough time for my Starbucks at home.

I have never in my life been treated as poorly at a Starbucks as I was just treated. Semhar was the cashier and all I asked was how much the coffee mug was. She went on a rant at how I needed to be more careful holding the mug. I told her how rude she was and I left. Definitely not the customer service that I’m used to from Starbucks!

It’s been said before about this location — the small size, odd configuration, semi-attentive employees and overwhelming amount of customers rushing to work/catching a train make for long lines and sometimes short tempers. Come here only if you can’t resist the urge of an expensive yet tasty frappé or latte and have the time to wait.

The usual Starbucks with its usual menu — this time conveniently located across from the waiting area and boarding stations. They’re fairly quick so I stop by for a latte before heading to NYC.

The location is convenient, especially if you are already in the area. The white chocolate mocha is my favorite.

My boyfriend and I stopped to grab some coffee and snacks from Starbucks in Union Station before we boarded our train for NYC for our weekend trip there a few weeks ago. I got the Frosty the Snowman iced cookie and it was delicious! My bf got coffee and our bill came out to exactly $ 11.11. Good luck? I’d say so! This Starbucks gets crowded, but the employees do a great job of juggling everything and making sure customers leave happy. There isn’t much room to sit inside, so a tip would be to grab your food/drinks to go and sit at the gates. Overall, we had a great experience here and I’d certainly return, especially since it’s conveniently located right next to the Amtrak gates.

I took a chance with this union station Washington dc location of starbucks because of my previous enjoyment with a starbucks near where my husband and I live. This union station starbucks is also superb. I felt like the workers actually valued me as a customer there and I actually received my peppermint mocha frappucino and almond praline croissant pretty quickly, and both products turned out tasting scrumptious.

I’m more of a Dunkin girl, but since that’s not available at Union Station, Starbucks is where I head to. I usually avoid this location because it always has a long line. Not surprising since it’s literally in the middle of Union Station where all the train tracks are and near the escalator that goes up to all the bus lines. Sometimes they have a barista taking orders while on line during those times, but I wouldn’t bank on that every time. They try to get through your order as quick as possible, but you’ll definitely wait the longest if you’re ordering a specialty drink or any food. The wait probably feels longer than it really is though. It’s a clutch location if you need a Starbucks fix before/after getting on/off a train, bus, or metro.

Until further notice, I would highly recommend eating NOTHING from the pastry case. On 1÷19÷2014, I saw a roach in the pastry case, flagged down the staff who attempted to kill the insect. After much maneuvering, she accomplished the task however, she proceeded to return the items to the case!!! This behavior is beyond disgusting. I am a city dweller and have been all of my life. I am not naïve enough to believe that high traffic areas would not be impacted by rodents or insects but I do expect for proper steps to be taken regarding health and safety. I phoned Starbucks customer service who assured me that someone would reach out to me and discuss next steps. I have yet to hear from anyone and as a result decided to notify my colleagues, their teams and the community at large. Don’t patronize if you don’t have to.
Good Luck!

It’s a Starbucks. You know the menu already… I’d say conveniently located, but that depends. If you’re driving during the day, find another location as it is tucked away deep in Union Station, meaning an expensive parking garage, and no street parking as most is SSA reserved(Senate Sargeant at Arms — US Capitol). If driving during evening SSA isnt enforced so limited street parking available. This location is for Union Station metro, Amtrak, MARC, and Mega Bus travelers who have a stop here, commute to work, or came via cab. It’s in space T-16 which is on the main level, center, across from Amtrak Police kiosk. It has some of the later hours in DC compared to other Starbucks as it is open till 9:30pm. It also opens early. Busy as Union Station is, the line can get ridiculously long, but 4 baristas and 2 cashiers keep it moving quick as possible. They have now open another smaller Starbucks towards the front of the station to ease heavy traffic. Staff is friendly, drinks well made, prices eh… yeah. Good location.
