This place has potential but the people who work here are ridiculous and have absolutely no customer service whatsoever. When my pregnant wife ordered two vegan egg rolls and then found out midway that what she was eating wasn’t vegetarian, she went up to them and asked them what was in the weird egg roll. The two ladies behind the counter looked puzzled, didn’t apologize, and instead asked her what was in it(as if she’s supposed to know). They proceeded to yell at her and berate her acting as if she was unreasonable for asking for a refund. I have seriously never encountered such disgusting and unprofessional behavior from people in the food service industry. My recommendation is to take your business elsewhere. If they can yell at an unsatisfied pregnant lady, only god knows what they’ll do to you!

The city’s perpetual humidity and dampness(please Lord let it rain already!) has left me feeling a bit underneath the weather. Thanks to Soup Up, I’m already feeling tons better! Their herb chicken soup puts your mama to shame. It’s chunky and zesty and even a bit spicy. Every single sip will warm you up, calm you down, and make you feel good about life in general. It’s like a warm hug in a bowl. What’s even better is Soup Up uses no milk or butter in any of their bases and is committed to only using the freshest, local ingredients possible. They post their rotating soup selection daily on their Facebook page and they will give you free samples of everything. For those looking to round out their meals they also serve spring rolls filled with jerk chicken or shrimp! Yum! At $ 8 for their smallest serving, I find this spot a bit expensive but it truly is a meal in itself. Cheers to the fall!

This soup is sooo good! The red bean soup is rich and flavorful with a subtle sweetness. The lasagna soup is filling and delicious! And according to my partner, the Harvest Vegetable is equally good. Stop by here and grab some fresh bread from Lyon’s bakery(also in Union Market) and you’ll have the makings for a wonderful meal!

The absolute BEST soup in the City!!! Everything is fresh, organic, and the flavors are amazing. Everything is available to sample and you can’t go wrong with any selection. It’s the reason I go to Union Market. Donna is the ultimate SOUPINISTA!!!

I was visiting DC and brought back a couple of soups to nyc. I had the cold cream of pineapple and fresh herb roasted chicken soups.

Soup Up has several unique soup offerings, though the sizes are slightly expensive, even for being homemade. On this occasion, they actually were featuring mango gazpacho, so of course, I had to try it. I found it flavorful, yet light and a good choice for eating outdoors among friends. Everyone seems to think highly of Green Machine, which I’ll have to try it when I’m next there.

Soup Up truly«serves up» homemade soup. My favorite is the green machine soup, I must purchase every time I visit Union Market. They were sold out of the green machine soup when I visited last, so I opted for the chicken noodle soup, although clearly homemade I would have preferred a little more seasoning. Thankfully my green machine soup was available today, I am pleased to satisfy my craving!

Absolutely wonderful! Had the breakfast in bed soup. It’s so hearty and delicious with plenty of ginger spiciness. Need to live closer because I’m already craving more!

An absolute gem! My first time and Union Market and it won’t be my last, thanks to Soup Up — not only was the staff friendly and accommodating, but this soup was truly some of the best I have ever had. The soups I tried were flavorful, warm and rich — perfect for a cold and rainy day(or any day really). I would highly recommend Soup Up!

This soup concession is fantastic. The owners were there doling out as many samples as you want, and this is the best soup I have ever had. The«breakfast in bed» soup is thick, full of spices, vegetables and complexity; others that were amazing were the black bean, actually was light even though black beans are so heavy, the chickpea cashew, spicy pumpkin and there were others we didn’t try that sounded great like«green machine.» Was visiting from New York and took a quart of breakfast in bed home; asked my daughter to bring some home next time she visits from D.C. All this and no cream or butter, ever. Not cheap but soup never is, and these are standard soup prices, a bargain for this quality. Well worth the trip and they couldn’t be nicer.
