Sip and Twit UYE at the Black Fox

How fitting to write my 100^th review on an elite event :)
This was my first wine and twit event, and I must say they had a several different wines to choose from (all from USA). 3 of the wines that stuck out the most were the chocolate flavored wine (which left a smoky hint of chocolate flavor in you mouth). The other one being a combo of different kinds of hot chilis (and boy did that have a kick). I believe both these wines came from VA. And lastly, the wine from Idaho that tasted like it was from France! Who knew Idaho made more than potatoes?! j/​k.
Ofcourse they had wine and cheese to go along with tasting. Great event amongst a wonderful, intimate group.

I always have a great time at DC Sip and Twit events. Where else is it actually socially acceptable to consistently have two wine glasses in hand at all times *and* a piece of bread hanging out of your mouth, simultaneously?
I cannot pull that off at many other events.
With about 30 different American wines to sample from, I sipped and tweeted about wines from Virginia, Maryland, California, North Carolina and upstate New York.
I know your supposed to just have a little sample from each, but I don’t like being wasteful… or classy apparently. Of all the wines I sampled, there were hardly any that I did not enjoy on some level. Obviously, some stood out more than others but there really were plenty of tasty wines.
There was this one chocolate wine, XOCO from Hornton Vineyards in Virginia. OMG. It’s love in a bottle. Seriously though, it reminds me of chocolate, cherries and flowers… without being syrupy or heavy. With a bottle of that by my side, I could be single forever and still feel constantly romanced.
Hats off to Giramondo Adventures for another great event! Can’t wait until the next one!

This was so good that I’d actually pay for it next time!
I tried everything, and liked most things, and really liked about 7 things, and loved about 3 things…
Chili Dawg from Horton Vineyards was surprisingly great. I have no idea if I could drink a whole glass of that, or with what I’d serve it, but WOW, that’s flavor tripping.
Also from Horton, the XOCO chocolate wine was as Tara said in a more eloquent way… orgasmic.
There was a wine made by some rock star in Arizona that was pretty good, and I could go on and on.
The venue was memorable for the dark leather chairs and mood lighting. Love it.
The people presenting their wines were almost 100% knowledgeable about their offerings. (One didn’t know what she was pouring and hadn’t tasted 2 of her 4 wines, stating she was «working on the whites for now») OK…
The crowd was pleasant, and there were plenty of glasses, cheese, and bread for all. I hoped it would last another 2 hours, but hunger got the better of us Unilocalers, and we had to move on in search of our next meal! :)
