Been waiting in line for an hour. Which gave me time to write this post. They’re lucky there is a lack of other options nearby

Great place to shop, prices are more than fair. Very helpful workers who can direct you to whatever you may be looking for. Its nice having a neighborhood grocery store that delivers a pleasant shopping experience

I am a fan of Safeway for a few reasons: 1) their prices are consistently lowest 2) the staff is friendly and helpful 3) they have a good selection of produce and 4) the selection of shelf items is excellent and 5) they stayed in the neighborhood when other stores closed shop and left for the suburbs. In order to have the best shopping experience, I usually go in the mornings as early as possible. For example, produce gets picked over during the day, and when I have to shop after work, I find that stuff can have that leftover look. Or at night sometimes they’ll be out of the specific kind of milk I want. But I look on that as positive — at least I know that the food I buy isn’t sitting on the shelves for long. Morning shopping also avoids the long lines that others complain about. I find that the Safeway staff here is very helpful and mostly friendly or at least polite.

You’d be hard pressed to find anything resembling pride in work at this store. If you want to wait in long line, you can get your canned goods relatively cheaply, but it’s hard to find a single fruit or vegetable that’s not rotten, and usually the displays are decimated. The same attitude shows through and reflects in the employees and customers. It’s close to home, but nothing else recommends it. I should also add that I purchased a couple of chocolate bars here a few weeks ago because they were on sale, and when I got home and opened one I found out why — it had apparently been kept at the wrong temperature and had completely melted and resolidified in a flat whitish gooey mess. Totally disgusting. They shouldn’t even sell a product in this state, and not warning customers it’s damaged before purchase is inexcusable.

Just moved to the neighborhood and discovered that the Unsafeway was my local. So far so good! Have not experienced the grim lines everybody else mentioned — even late afternoon on Saturdays when stores are usually packed. Service is good. Nice and clean, great selection. The wine and beer shop off to the side is convenient and well stocked.
