Very nice and professional staff. I requested a plain baguette with cheese and butter, which was made on the spot. Thank you!

Cute coffee shop with lots of pastry and bakery options. Unfortunately, due to celiac disease, there wasn’t much for me to try. But I wouldn’t expect such, and was here for a working lunch. I really enjoyed my Moccachino though!

Freshly made breads and cakes in the a.m. I had the strawberry cake and chocolate mousse cake for my friends and I. The maccaroons are small but they resemble the ones I had in France. We also ordered catering, sandwiches, salad and desserts. It was one of the best and freshest sandwiches I had. Will definitely grab lunch there more often.

The staff — though very, very nice — seem woefully inept. It took no less than six minutes for the order taker /ringer upper to find my menu selection on the cash register, even with the«help» of two other white jacketed servers. This being a prerequisite to placing the order I figured I was in for the long haul. I decided not to be impatient but instead to pass the time absorbing the bit-too-slick boulangerie et pâtisserie française décor and convincing myself the sandwich quality would make it worth the wait. …Unrewarded hope. The sandwich was in fact not a sandwich but three toast points more cold than warm, accompanied surprisingly by a huge salad more wilted than fresh.(Note that it was nearly closing time.) The prosciutto was excellent but the fig and goat cheese spread was little more than a rumor, and the salad — which outweighed the sandwich by 2 to 1 and for which I was not offered dressing options — was never mentioned in the menu description. At under $ 10 for a sandwich this might’ve been a two star review, at $ 13.95 for what felt like a bait & switch I can’t get past one star. That said I hasten to add this was my first and thus far only experience of Paul, and based on the notion that anyone can have a bad day I fully intend to give it another try.

The pastries are very good, though a bit expensive. The salads have healthy ingredients and taste good. The manager is very friendly. However, there are several very unfriendly employees who seem very put out and bothered when you enter the store. I don’t need someone to chat me up but they are extremely unfriendly. Also, one of the guys who takes care of table maintenance and delivering food to the tables basically dropped the plate on my table with a cold blank look. That was the end for me. It does not help that they are closed on weekends. I guess they just don’t have the draw to support a weekend business.

Paul is not appalling(hahaha — get it?), but what is disconcerting is that the prices are about double those in France.

I was so excited when a Paul was opening up just down the street from me– their baked goods are out of this world(especially the pain au chocolat!!). Both times I’ve gone in now, however, I’ve had odd experiences with their staff. The woman at the front forgot my order both times and the first time I sat waiting for 15 minutes before I finally went and asked for it(it was a simple latte). Meanwhile, the man who works cleaning up the tables and delivering the food has stared at me lasciviously and made odd noises when he’s walked past me both times I’ve gone in(the second time I was with my boyfriend!). With so many competing coffee shops in the area I’m not sure I’ll go in now unless I’m craving a croissant…

Wow, just had an amazing pumpkin tartlette and mocha cappuccino. Service was quick, very friendly, and professional. I’ll definitely be coming back to this location more often.

Finally, a high-quality bakery/breakfast shop has entered the downtown/K ST. business district! This place makes Au Bön Pain look like child’s play. Everything is delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend the egg, ham, and cheese baguette as well as any of their omelettes. Coffee menu is also awesome!

Food: Yum! As far as the Quiche Lorraine goes anyways. That’s a food by the way. Décor: Omg, I’m in France ^_^. I ordered the Quiche Lorraine, was delicious. Noticed they had a soup special that includes soup and fresh iced tea with it. They didn’t make me pay for another order and just shaved the Quiche off of my next order. I’m not an expert of French Onion soup, but it was good. The design of the place is awesome. It’s very comfy and warm. It’s kinda pricey for what I got, the Quiche is going to be smaller than you think, it comes with a salad but salad is meh, but the quiche is good.

I love Paul’s food. It’s amazing. Their hot chocolate is to die for. Maybe this is a cultural thing, but in London, it’s made with real melted chocolate. In DC it tastes like its out of a machine, just powdered stuff you can make at home from the supermarket. Same price as London, though!

I was so very excited when I found out a new location was opening up close to my office. My 1st visit was a bit confusing but it’s to be expected since it was a grand opening. I got a turkey & cheese croissant sandwich which was good. My 2nd visit there was more confusion or where to order or where to stand. I waited for almost 10 mins for a slice of blueberry pie & a raspberry macaroon. The pie was good and the macaroon was just ok. Today was my 3rd visit and I was pleased that I was in and out without any confusion. I ordered a egg, cheese & turkey croissant sandwich. When I got back to my office I noticed the bag that the sandwich was in was very greasy. When I took the sandwich out of the bag it didn’t look or smell appetizing. I figured oh well, I paid $ 6 for this thing I might as well eat it. I took one bite and threw it in the trash. It was like biting into a big ball of grease. Not only that the turkey wasn’t sliced turkey like the sandwiches they make, it was more like ground turkey meat. UGH! I was so disappointed that I wasted my hard earned $ 6 on that mess.

First trip here and you would never know that they just opened earlier this week. Very friendly staff. My breakfast was delicious and the Café Crème spot on. I’m sure this will be part of my regular Saturday routine. Great addition to the K/13 area. It would be a nice place to have a quick work meeting over coffee. Lots of little two people tables with cushy chairs.
