A wonderfully altruistic organization focused on improving health care in North and South America and the Caribbean. This is the Americas portion of the United Nation’s World Health Organization(WHO). Staffed with many researchers, medical doctors and PhDs, their focus is to work with member states to lobby for and support health care efforts. An example they use is that they do not give the inoculations, but research and develop the vaccine, set up the local programs, educate the medical professionals and provide for the inoculations to be given. There are around 39 member states and numerous programs. They work in and accommodate four languages: French, Portuguese, English and Spanish. A fascinating organization of sincerely dedicated professionals who are out to save the world and doing it.
