Very nice restaurant. Loved the ambience & view. Our waiter Kevin was amazing & the food was delicious.

The service might have been been a tad slow, but they sure brought the flavor! My coworker from The Center for Refugee Integration excellence and I walk in and cannot get over the dim lights, fashionable décor, and the unbeatable location near everything I love in downtown. We just finished shopping at Gucci at City Center(can you say we needed new backpacks for back to school at Georgetown?) and needed a quick bite. We were quickly seated at a romantic table on the sidewalk near the electronic art. I studied Mass Video Advertising at the University of Bangkok and was excited by my views– I applied all of my concepts of my degree to my friend and she was flabbergasted. But that’s not the only thing that I could relate to my time in Thailand. I ordered the Khao Klook Kapi and was engrossed in a déjà vu moment to my time back in Thailand. Our food came out– ingredients separated– just like my host mother Wendy used to do. We truly personalized our dish and had the perfect meal before we continued our shopping spree at Hugo Boss!

Walked out after waiting nearly 15 minutes to be recognized at the bar, and then was told by the bartender that he would not substitute vodka for gin from the cocktail menu… and he was snotty about it. Yes, I’m allergic to gin; Yes, I’m aware that the integrity of the drink will be compromised; Yes, I’m an adult and will take responsibility for my request.

Why did I come back here again? I know you must be asking yourself this as you see this update. I went back a 3rd time guys — disappointment. I didn’t even make it to order anything before I walked out. That décor *shakes fist* the décor had me believing it would still be a great gem in my rolodex of places to go. The 3 ppl working, no bartender or bar open and only the dinner menu with crazy prices has me knowing this place won’t be around too long.

Absolutely appalled. I came here with a girlfriend for dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine, an appetizer, and entrée. When we ordered the wine, I made sure to point out the bottle and the waitress verbally confirmed the bottle. Service was slow but understandable for the atmosphere. When the bill came we noticed a wine more than twice as expensive as the one we ordered was on the bill. Upon confronting the waitstaff, they informed us that was the bottle we were presented and since we drank it, we had to pay for it. Now, I’m sure this was an honest mistake of bringing the wrong bottle, and could have easily been corrected by adjusting the bill, as we had clearly ordered a different wine. However we spent 30 minutes going back and forth with the manager, who insisted we had ordered the more expensive wine despite us informing her that was not the case, and we should not have been held responsible for the servers mistake. The manager did end up correcting the bill to reflect the bottle of wine we had originally ordered, but the overall experience left a very bad taste in our mouths.

Bougie, bland, and bad — my alliteration of choice for this restaurant. So many better options around there. Came here to sample happy hour and maybe get dinner. For starters, the staff acted like it was my privilege to eat there. No greeting or check in. I ordered the wings and my wife got the pork sliders. Both were excessively greasy. $ 6 for three emaciated wings. Seasoned with mango and served with a terrible sauce. The combination made as much sense as Kanye West at a humility seminar. Wasn’t good at all. My wife didn’t like her sliders, informed our bartender, and he acted like he needed to get Congress to sign off on a bill allowing us to not be charged for the dish she didn’t want. Never going back here. I’ll tolerate snobbery for good food and service. Can’t do it when the food was equivalent to broiled cereal.

Gathered here for bottomless mimosas, the downtown location, and the opportunity to try out a new Saturday brunch spot. We were a bit disappointed to find out the restaurant was not offering bottomless mimosas due to the large amount of champagne consumed over New Years Eve. Despite this, the staff was able to accommodate us and provide a reasonable workaround. Additionally, despite my reticence at eating brunch at a Thai restaurant, the food was very good. Above all, the service was excellent.

This place was GARBAGE. I ordered a steak appetizer and they brought me a steak entrée. The bar tendered offered to take it back but since they took 25 min to bring the food I said it was ok since I was so hungry. I took a bite of my food and it was cold. My friends food was cold as well so the bar tender took it back and told us that they would make us a new plate that would be warm. That was a lie. I’m pretty sure they stuck it in the microwave because my friend cut up her chicken on her plate and they brought the plate back with the cut up chicken. We got the bill and we didn’t get any discounts or a free drink for our food being cold and having to wait a long time for the food when the place was dead. There’s no way that this place is the best Thai in DC. I was so disappointed! I’m never coming back here again.

The Two stars are based on the ambiance, I would choose this location for a happy hour with friends. I ordered the lamb chops and my husband ordered the stir fry chicken… i believe the stir fry was a pre-packaged frozen meal. The spring rolls were ok but nothing to write home about. For two appetizers and two entrees no drinks only water… our meal was 84.00… our meal was definitely not worth that based on taste and portion size. The other comments and ratings on this restaurant are fair. Cute spot… Drinks only.

Not very friendly this evening. I was at the bar on the first floor and the service was subpar. The gentleman who was behind the bar seemed super uninterested in helping guest. I don’t think I’ll return to have a proper dinner. Upsetting

The reviews don’t lie. This restaurant is 2.5 stars but their service put them into the 3-star zone for me. Rose was our waitress and she was very attentive and knew most of the menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful and is in city center which is prime real estate right now in terms of restaurant. There is a bar level on the first floor and restaurant dining on second floor. No one greets you on first floor when you enter. There is a sign that says go up the stairs and meet our greeter there for dine in. Be sure to grab a table by the window off of 9th street. It’s fun to have a view. If you are blind or have vision problems, ask the bar tender what to do. I personally don’t like they have a sign there instead of someone greeting you. They have an elevator! So people who want an elevator, your prayers have been answered because finally DC is getting the message: «there are people with many different needs who can’t do all these stairs in the business in DC. « Food: 2.5 stars for the entrée. 3 stars for the duck roll. My husband had the lobster pad Thai. It’s market price so that evening it was $ 35. I tasted his and it is definitely not a traditional pad Thai which is understandable but for the price I was expecting a lot better. The duck rolls had a lot of duck meat in them which was great and they had a great flavor. The roll is just your typical fried bread product. The sauce with it is thick and strong and you will make a face when you first taste it but it’s decent. The steak was cooked medium and to perfection. It was a great piece of steak and you should eat it without their spicy sauce that tasted like fish. The restaurant is pricey but it’s in CityCenterDC so it’s expected. It’s a restaurant attempting five star fancy Thai cuisine but they are falling short of that and only hitting 2.5 to 3 stars. They need some work. I won’t be back but glad I tried it.

It was the only place that virtually had all times available for dinner reservations on a Friday night, that should say enough. The food was pretty good, I’ve had better Thai but the main problem is the fact that it’s WAYYYY overpriced.

4 stars for service and venue, 2 for menu and food. The location has great potential, but(rightly or wrongly) the restaurant would probably do better if they included a few more familiar Thai options on the menu(e.g., more curry options, more familiar noodle dishes). The appetizers we had(steak, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, duck rolls, chicken satay) were all very good, but some of the entrees fell flat. The server was nice and prompt, and most of the issues felt more like structural things with the menu.

Very trendy setting in the new DC City Center. Came here with friends on a Friday night which was surprisingly not crowded. Our waiter was so helpful and patient with us and had good recommendations. Even the bartender came by our table to ask about our cocktails. I ordered the duck with drunken noodles — which was a little bit too spicy. The duck was cooked very well and was tender and juicy.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed Mango Tree for happy hour. The hours are a little weird(check out the menu, they skip the 7pm primo hour) but the specials are decent. $ 6 house wine, tasty cocktails. The cocktails are premade but they are yum, so whatever. The food was surprisingly good. I tried two of the HH $ 6 dishes. Keep in mind they are small, but packed with flavor. I recommend the peanut salad. It’s a dry peanut dish with Thai spices. and it is great. What a tasty upgrade to the quintessential bar snack. The fried tofu was also tasty. The tofu was deep fried, sauced, and had great flavor. The atmosphere was a bit forced. There is something fun about a bartender making your cocktail in front of you. I can see having a premade cocktail at a busy bar, but this place was empty. The bartender thought he was going to run out of the cocktail I ordered and said«Sorry were out. nevermind!» and pours me from the pre-made potion. I was a little turned off. It was a simple drink to make and they had a full bar. That confused me. The décor was equally forced. It was trying hard to be a four star trendy hotspot when in reality it didn’t have those vibes. Overall I had a great experience but I didn’t LOVE it.

BELIEVETHEREVIEWSTHISPLACEISAWFUL! Terribly slow service and overpriced food. 8 – 12 dollars for THREE veggie/duck rolls?! Why?! To force you to eat more. Had to wait 15mins before I even got a drink, food took even longer. Worst part is my homegirl, who was celebrating her birthday, found 6, SIX gnats in her F@wk!ng drink. All they did was comp the drink, THATSIT! After finding that bugs were in someone’s drink that’s all you do to make up for it?! And they were so quick to get rid of the drink that I couldn’t even take a picture for evidence which was so convenient for them. Awful service. I will NEVERCOMEBACKHERE, EVER!!! Stay away!

It was date night tonight, Max and I haven’t gone out together by our lonesome in quite some time, so needless to say I was excited. We made our way into DC for our reservation at Mango Tree. I’m glad I scheduled it at 5pm on a Tuesday because it was almost empty. The place was ours, and I didn’t need to feel weird standing to take photos. Heading into the restaurant you walk into a bar area with seating, so at first we were slightly confused as to where to go. Once we found our way upstairs we were immediately struck by the the front wall, which was almost completely glass. Luckily we were sat next to it, so we could people watch as we waited for our food. Our server, Daniel, was very friendly but not over-attentive(which could have easily happened given we were his only table). We started with cocktails and a side of duck spring rolls. I had a Khing Wiski, which was absolute perfection. Often whisky based cocktails can be overwhelming, too much whisky, but this one was perfectly sweet and bitter. It was made with their in-house ginger beer(which I would love to try), and topped off with a bit of cilantro. All that would have made the drink better, would be if they muddled a bit more of the cilantro into it — while it was a great drink, it was a bit one note. The duck spring rolls were unexpectedly greasy, but delightfully crispy and flaky. The dipping sauce wasn’t needed, but once used, it stole the show. I would definitely recommend the spring rolls. For my main dish I got the Butcher’s Cut in a Curry Sauce — which tonight happened to be pork cheek. It came plated with roasted brussel sprouts and grape tomatoes all sitting in a savory and thick curry sauce. The pork nearly fell apart when attacked by my fork. I say attacked, because there ws no holding back. I could eat those brussel sprouts for days. I saved my rice for last, so I could use it to sop up all the sauce. If you happen to be in the DC area, hovering around Chinatown, I would definitely check in here.

My food was not to bad and had the traditional Thai flavors I expected. Staff was extremely friendly and prompt however for the price I was not impressed with the whole package. 4 stars for service and 2 for the food.

I ordered the full English for brunch and was disappointed. It was way too greasy, everything seemed to be deep fried. It also came with two wok fried eggs which were way overcooked. Four stars for service, one star for food. I won’t be coming back and I wouldn’t recommend it. The best part was sitting outside in the shade with a Thai iced tea.

I am giving Mango Tree 3.5 stars(really wish we could give half stars on Unilocal!). It was VERYVERY crowded even at 8:45 when we got there. We had a 9pm reservation on a Saturday night for my friend’s birthday but they did not seat us until almost 9:30. An acquaintance of mine had also complained about being sat on time and though it wasn’t a huge deal, it was a small annoyance none the less. The Drinks were OUTSTANDING. I had the lychee mojito as did a few of the other girls and everyone loved it. I also tried the spicy mango drink and that was also delicious. My friend ordered appetizers and the lobster pad thai to share for the table. Here’s the rundown: –Lobster pad thai: the only entrée we ordered and it was awesome. Highly recommended –duck spring roll: tasty, wish it held together a little better after one bite –papaya salad: good, but I’ve had better –octopus salad: SPICY, the octopus was well seasoned –side pad thai: standard pad thai –fried silken tofu: crispy, nice texture, nothing amazing –lemongrass shrimp salad: just OK, somewhat disappointing –thai street coconut ice cream(dessert): At first taste, I didn’t care for it but it really grew on me! With a fresh flavor, it was a great ending to the meal. Overall, I would like to return and try more entrees before I make my final call on Mango Tree. The décor is nice and it is definitely what I would consider a «trendy» restaurant. It’s hard to live up to the hype so maybe once it has cooled down, I’ll give it another try.
