I think the owner(Rodney?) must have read Chloe’s review, because when I went in there yesterday there were at least 5 bottles under $ 10. I think I bought most of them :-) I love the idea of this store, because it’s a *wine* store on the typically fast food oriented Columbia Road. And the owner is a local. Those two things are really cool. The wine selection is eclectic, and *thank god* it has some different labels from the usual eight(Turning Leaf, anybody?) you see at Safeway. That is definitely a plus. I’ll be coming back and keeping an eye on this place. Plus I told Rodney I’d let him know what I thought of the two $ 8 Pinot Grigio’s I bought. Update 7÷30÷07: The old kitchen was finally torn out, so there’s MOREWINE! More space, and more shelves to hold more wine. Rodney is very nice, and loves to suggest wines. Go by and visit him.

I walked by this little wine shop on my way home one day… If you have been to DeVino’s on 18th and U in the past, then you will probably recognize the owner of La Colmenita… he left DeVinos to start his own gig. I like the décor, it is small and has nice wooden shelves… plus, it is doubling as an art store of sorts, so all of the art on the walls is for sale… its not bad… not great. When I spoke to the owner he said he plans to have a little cheese area/deli for nice meats and cheeses… so be on the look out. Lots of South American and new world wine… knowledgable staff. I just bought a Hungarian red there the other day… I’ll let you know once i try it. The price points are a bit high, but you can easily find you $ 10-$ 13 bottles. The great thing is is that they stell wine you wont see everywhere… its a great place to try something new!!!
