Love this corner neighborhood coffee shop with lots of choices for food. Jasmine and her family operate it and they care about the quality and service they provide the community. Their Illy coffee is fantastic and Jasmine knows how to operate the espresso machine to pull delicious and flavorful espresso shots. I highly recommend stopping by. I’m eager for summer as they have a fantastic outdoor space that I hope to help make a local hangout spot!

Changed management over the last month, and things have gone downhill fast. Usually can get in and out with a coffee and breakfast sandwich in under 10 min, now it took 30+ minutes. No busier than normal and no line to order, just a bunch of people waiting around for their food so I know it wasn’t just my food. Had to ask about 5 minutes after ordering for my iced coffee, the cashier and woman doing drinks were just standing around. Two people doing food somehow are 3 times as slow as the one guy that used to do it. Plus they raised their prices… again. I’ve probably gone for the last time.

This is a great local coffee shop. I would come here on the weekends and get coffee and food. The breakfast sandwiches are very good but the Italian french toast is incredible. Also, the bubble tea is pretty good. The atmosphere is cozy and there’s sparse seating. The owners are friendly and never had any issues. Highly recommend this little place if you are close by.

Sep 2,2015 I was humiliated by the lady who works the cash register. I was sitting in the coffee shop reading on my laptop. Looking over the menu because I wanted a cup of tea. Before I can get up and order anything. She walked up to me and yelled… Wifi is not free for customer use only!!! The coffee shop was a space people was working and reading. She assumed that I was using her wifi. Which I was not doing. Walking up to someone yelling is not the way to receive people business. I was disgusted with her rage and attitude. She will never get my business.

A good, unpretentious neighborhood café with solid coffee and breakfast food that hits the spot. You should come here.

I simply love this place. The owners are friendly and the food and drinks are great. The only downside is because they run it completely on their own, the hours are a bit wonky(don’t always open at 7:30 sharp). However, they sell everything from soy lattes to bubble tea, and croissant sandwiches to lox bagels. There really is no better place on the hill to grab great food fast and service with a smile :)

The owners are really nice and the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. That being said, it’s kind of expensive for what it is. I can get the same sandwich and a coffee for less at Starbucks and $ 1.86 for a refill when most places offer free refills on a cup of coffee is pretty lame.

Good coffee friendly service and a great patio. Made for a nice Sunday morning. I Can’t Believe it was so empty at 11am. I had a ham egg and cheese croissant, nothing fancy but solid

Small coffee house. Their bagels are obviously not made there and are store bought but it did the job on a hungover morning.

Coffee is okay, bagels and sandwiches are unexpectedly delicious. Setting is super peaceful but feels a bit uptight. Overall though Jacob’s is a cool place and convenient for residents of the Hill.

When I need a quick cup of coffee or a latte, this is a good place to go! But this is not Starbucks or Chinatown Coffee. The atmosphere is not conducive to hours of lounging, and the food/drinks are not good enough to warrant a full meal. I also question the cleanliness. When I want an interesting danish or quiche with a cute little cup of coffee in a pretty little place, I venture about 10 blocks away to Batter Bowl Bakery on H St.

I just moved into the neighborhood and was excited about having a neighborhood coffee shop. Armed with my laptop and hours worth of work, I walked over late on a Sunday morning and set up shop. I ended up working here for almost three hours and had a chance to sample the fare and make some observations. Food: The coffee’s ok. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. They used a slice of American cheese(think Kraft Singles). Really? I was hoping for something a little bit more sophisticated… Service: The owners don’t do much to engage their customers or create a sense of community, other than cursory politeness. Wifi: Wifi works great inside but does not work well(or at all) from their outside tables. I had to come back inside, which was a bit of a drag on a beautiful, autumn day. Summary: They get a lot of traffic because frankly, there’s not much else around but it’s nothing special. They have to up their game on the food even if it means charging a bit more. Customers like me would be willing to pay more for something nicer than a Kraft single. Also, their service style does not encourage me to want to come back here.

It was fine, but so many rules! Five dollar card minimum, don’t take the books, pay for your copy of wapo BEFORE reading it, non-paying customers can only take one table, and to use the restroom, you must ask for the key. All these are fairly standard requests for a small business to make of its customers, but what was unsettling was that there were signs with rules posted EVERYWHERE. Haven’t been back because it reminded me of being back at my mother’s Korean church, where we weren’t allowed to touch the walls lest we get them dirty with our grubby lil hands… Besides that, I was a fan of the hi-chew variety available. Put me in my happy place.

Yummy iced coffee on a hot hot day. Comfy chairs. Calm music. What else do you need? The couple working were so kind and hard working. Will happily be back when I’m in the neighborhood again.

Stopped at Jacobs Coffeehouse on a whim for a caramel macchiato and bacon, egg and cheese on croissant and I’ll tell you… if you live in the northeast dc area and love coffee, this is a shop you want to check out. Now I haven’t tried the other coffees as of yet, but I’ll come back at a later date. The caramel macchiato blew Starbucks away… yeah seriously. I almost lost my mind when the cook grabbed a fresh egg to cook my sandwich. It’s even that much greater because the sandwich was really hot. It has a pretty nice atmosphere. It’s a small corner shop that’s probably really great in the summer time. Didn’t check out if they had wi-fi on this go around, but if I wanted to chill on a Saturday or Sunday morning this would be it.

3.5 stars After a difficult day at work, I knew I needed to unwind at a coffee shop. Jacob’s was the closest to the school where I was working that day, and was VERY excited to see that they have bubble tea. My first thought was«Screw coffee, I’m getting BUBBLETEA!!» By the way, the«bubble tea» is not tea, but smoothies. I liked the combination of two of my favorite drinks but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea(no pun intended). I have had bubble tea at two places in DC and VA, but have yet to find a place that I love. At $ 6, the drink was a bit pricey for my comfort, given that I’m used to spending about $ 3 – 4 bucks for bubble tea in the Bay. The strawberry bubble tea smoothie was just what I needed on a hot and hard day, but I’m not sure if it was worth $ 6. Outdoor seating is a plus, and I was the only person outside at 3:30 pm. Since I don’t live in the area, this place is too far to make it a «regular» spot. I’d go back next time I’m in the area and in the mood for bubble tea, but I’m not going to go out of my way to come here when there are plenty of coffee shops(aka 2 Starbucks) and restaurants within walking distance of my apartment.

I’m a fan. There’s plenty of seating, including outdoor seating and some super comfy chairs inside and free wifi! The coffee isn’t anything special but certainly does the trick, but the breakfast sandwiches are sooo good. I wouldn’t say you should go out of your way to go to Jacob’s but if you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth going to to have breakfast while working or reading.

I lived around the corner from Jacob’s for the last three years. I really enjoyed having them so conveniently located, particularly for lox on an asiago bagel, or other breakfast sandwiches, which they do incredibly well. They also have great seating areas(often full!) and plenty of outlets and wifi. They even have some books to peruse while you are there, and a nice patio. But the thing for me is that this is a coffee shop… And their espresso drinks are pretty mediocre. Their steamed milk is just kind of… Heated? Really nothing to write home about. But for a spot to read/work and eat a bfast sandy — go for it. FYI: there is a $ 5.00 credit card minimum.
