When I was in middle school, my local Giant introduced their first food delivery service called Peapod. They delivered groceries in a light green VW bug with a giant pea magnet on the side. I remember thinking — what kind of lazy butt would get their groceries delivered to them? Well years have passed and a majority of my free time is trying to think of excuses on why I don’t want to go outside such as: #1) It’s cold, #2) I don’t want to wear shoes, #3) I don’t want to have to pay for parking and/or scam for free parking, #4) I don’t want to talk to anybody, #5) There’s a new episode of Jane the Virgin on, #6) I have to wash my hair and the list goes on and on. Yep, I’m now a lazy ass who gets their groceries delivered to them. But before you write me off, here are some reasons why Instacart is definitely worth it. #1) You can get Costco items delivered to you WITHOUT a Costco card and WITHOUT having to battle the crazy checkout and parking lines. KIRKLANDSIGNATURESTHATSWHATSUP! #2) Besides Costco they also offer deliveries from Whole Foods and Harris Teeter(if they added Trader Joe’s and Target to that list I would NEVER leave my house) #3) By planning your grocery list ahead you won’t get distracted by superficial purchases(Whole Foods Natural Beauty Product Aisle I’m looking at you) and saving your money All of the items can be checked off a list online and if they are out of your Stoneybrook Farms Blueberry Yogurt your personal shopper will call you with substitutions. I can’t think of a better service on a cold day… or the days before Snowzilla! Delivery charges are minimal and when you think of the time you saved you realize it is worth every single penny. I wish I could outsource my entire life!

This is an amazing service. It is reliable, fast and extremely convenient. I used to use peapod for grocery delivery in DC, and I am glad to have switched to instacart. First of all, their customer service is very responsive and caring. The shoppers are friendly and pleasant to interact with — which adds an extra level of personalized touch to the experience. Second, they deliver from stores such as Whole Foods(where you can find high quality produce). You can find organic and gourmet items. Third, the online user interface is very easy to use. There is an option to add and request items(by description) that you may not see in the database, and the personal shopper will search the store for you to find what you descrinbed(and they will call you to confirm what they found is what you wanted). Overall, it is an almost perfect service with an almost perfect platform. There are of course glitches here and there, but they are very quick at addressing those. I have to point out one downside though — price. The items cost significantly more than what you would pay if you were to go to Whole Foods yourself, so if you are like me — getting deliveries every other day and doing your entire grocery shopping from Instacart, you will realize that you are paying about 30% more than what you would normally pay if you were to do the shopping yourself. So, sometimes, I have no trouble justifying the premium paid for the service and convenience, but other times, it feels like the add-on is a bit too much…

Instacart is the best grocery delivery option yet. Even during the massive snow storms this winter, I was able to get my groceries delivered. The best thing is, I can choose food from a variety of stores. As a DC area entrepreneur, I don’t always have time to spend in the grocery store, and Instacart solves all of those problems at a very fair price.
