I agree with the person who had to go to their office in person. In my case, my license materials were left sitting on someone’s desk corner and only after I showed up IN PERSON to their office with a completely new application filled out a 2^nd time in my hands did they find my original. Granted this was in 2009, but I don’t think a whole lot has changed in their office, other than the location. Back then, it was due to a combination of a lack of competent staff and lack of caring about doing a good job. Like a lot of offices in DC government, they need to be privatized and run by a private organization. «My dears, a little firing can get you everywhere.»

I ended up writing a letter to Mayor Fenty about the office and my experience. I received a personal email from the head of that division with a sincere apology. My feathers are a little smoothed…
