I am currently studying marketing at Georgetown. As a Penn alumna, I understand exceptional education.
Georgetown’s downtown facility is pleasant, with great places to relax with classmates, grab mango smoothies and Starbucks, and engage in some of the best educational experiences of your life.
The value proposition for SCS is phenomenal. Having Titans of industry teaching tricks of their trade, to McDonough School of Business professors giving you access to MBA curricula, the marketing certificate is the best value for enhanced education.

As with all universities, it depends on what program you are in how you feel about the experience and even then it varies based on the course and the professor. I am currently enrolled in the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University’s Graduate Certificate Program. So the course I took this week was the first course I have taken at this location.
It is a beautiful building. The security team was incredibly helpful and answered a classmate’s question about how to obtain the key for a wellness room. There are lots of open spaces with seating. There is a small bookstore and a café inside the building so you don’t have to go to main campus or in search of food during breaks. There are lots of hook ups for laptops in both the common areas as well as the classrooms. (Though make sure your desk is actually plugged into an outlet or else the outlet won’t work). The guest wifi network is also pretty fast and the classrooms are well designed.
I also love that it is just a few blocks from both the Convention Center Metro and Chinatown Metro. We ate lunch in Chinatown each day and it was super convenient. The Circulator bus that goes between Georgetown and Union Station also stops right in front of the building, so if you had to get to this campus to the main one, it is pretty easy.

I recently applied to the School of Continuing Studies, Paralegal Summer Intensive Program and insofar the experience is truly disappointing! Albeit, a late application was put in, I called to see if such an application was still possible before submission.
On May 14, 2014 I received an e-​mail stating that my application was complete. From there nothing else whatsoever — not that I was expecting anything to be rushed, but there was a scholarship deadline on Monday, May 19^th. Naturally, if accepted, I would have loved to try for it. So, on the 19^th I called the admissions departments and a girl told me I should be receiving instructions shortly. (No, I wasn’t rude. I even said hello and good morning and went into the long explanation of putting in a late application and was worried since classes are supposed to be starting soon — back to this later.) Towards the end of the conversation she switched me over to someone else that said I’d be getting an e-​mail some time during the week and then hung up. Well… the week has gone by and nothing. I

last night and by noon today, nothing!
Additionally, I am coming from New York and knew that the time crunch would be hazardous to finding a place to live. Now???
However, looking back on this experience now, I suppose the real indication of problems at this part of the University goes back to trying to get a hold of Shani Sutton. I called on a Friday afternoon back in February and was told she probably left for the day and to leave a message. So I did and received a call back at 7:30 pm that night. Sorry, I was having dinner and the phone was shut off. Called back on Monday, but it was the day ALL of Washington, DC was shut down because of the weather. Left another message apologizing for missing her call. By Friday of that same week no call back. I let another week or two go by and called the main number, but finally ended up e-​mailing her my questions. (Yes, she eventually e-​mailed me back, which is why I put in an application to the program in the first place.)
Nevertheless, back to the problem at hand: No communications from the school and according to their website classes start on May 27, 2014. Their exact words:
Program Schedule
The Summer Intensive program meets Monday through Saturday from 9:00am until 4:00pm for 10-​weeks, followed by a 4-​week internship. The program begins the third week of May and ends the week before Labor Day.
Semester Start/​End Dates
The Paralegal Summer Intensive Program generally begins around the third or fourth week of May and concludes before Labor Day. The 2014 Summer Intensive Program began May 27, 204 and ends September 5, 2014.

As stated in my e-​mail last night, what does this mean? It means either classes already started or will start in less than a day.
Overall, at this point I don’t expect to be accepted into the program — but at least have the decency to tell me so! For nearly $ 10,000 that I was willing to give for a certificate and not a master’s degree treat me like a person.
In the corporate world, perhaps this would be called a lack of communication skills. If it were a class where I was the professor and the school a student, I would give it a «C» for not handing in the final assignment.
