Looking for an upscale, walkable section of DC? Well, look no further than Georgetown. There are tons of shops, both high-end and not so high-end. You can find the famous Georgetown Cupcakes and maybe even purchase one if you’re willing to wait in a long line or you can venture on down the road to Baked and Wired or Sprinkles for a cupcake. As a tourist and non-DC native, I enjoyed the walkability of the area although parking is terrible. The shops and the beauty of the area are unbelievable. Definitely a must see area for anyone visiting DC.

I love g-town! Definitely a DC must see. The shopping is great. The iconic georgetown cupcake is here(dc cupcakes). Shopping is great, true religion, American apparel etc. Far from metro you have to walk it from foggy bottom. Nice campus very mid-evil looking.

Georgetown negatives: too much traffic; too many students; too many tourists; too expensive; too much noise; a lot of bad, collegiate food; almost impossible to park there at night; and too much crime. Georgetown positives: despite itself, café/restaurant gems have emerged(Café Milano, Leopold’s Kafe, Citronelle, Café Bonaparte) and it is becoming a pastry mecca(Baked and Wired, Georgetown Cupcake, Leopold’s). More positives: the splendid Dumbarton Oaks park; quaint, cobblestone streets; beautiful houses and gardens; impressive shops(Dean and Deluca, Kate Spade, Lacoste, Coach, Lush, etc.). Plus, the Social Safeway has finally reopened — and the Georgetown waterfront is coming to its own(Founding Farmers, et al.). All in all, it looks like the positives are outnumbering the negatives. So, thumbs up, Georgetown!
