I got the vegetarian dish which had tofu, potatoes, egg, and rice along with a side salad. Overall, it was good and well priced. However, this would be a 5 star rating if they reduced the rice a little and added a bit more of the potato/tofu mixture.

I liked it. I had the balada, which was a tofu/potato dish on a bed of sticky jasmine rice with greens on the side and a hard boiled egg. The dish had a pleasant amount of heat but nothing excessive. It was a little rice heavy but overall very enjoyable and fairly priced. The man in the truck was also very nice and the dish came out quickly. I would eat it again.

I was a bit disappointed in this truck. I went on my honeymoon to Bali and had a lot of really delicious food, so I hoped that this would be tasty as well. Indonesia is a large country with thousands of islands and a wide variety of cuisine, but i recognized pretty much every dish on the menu. I was there around 12:40 and the chicken rendang was already sold out, so I thought I’d give the beef rendang a try. Just before running my card I was informed that there was no more beef rendang despite being reassured twice that I was going to be getting the last one. Bummer. So, I went for the only thing left on the menu that was an entrée — bihun goreng. It’s a noodle dish with fried egg, chopped bok choy and a few pieces of chopped chicken. Thank goodness I was offered some special spicy sauce on the side to try because otherwise the dish would have been quite bland. The sauce added some good flavor. It came with a small«salad» on the side — about 8 pieces of lettuce with some dressing… pretty simple, but I wasn’t expecting a salad at all, so I can’t complain too much about that. In short, the food was ok. I’m curious to try a rendang dish, so I will probably return a little earlier next time to make sure I get that. It’s not amongst the top food trucks, but I’m not giving up on it yet. Will update if I do return to try another dish.

Not nearly enough sauce in the chicken rendang — you’re left with a pile of plain white rice after a few bites. Side salad is less of salad and more like a few leaves. Much better trucks out there.

It was my first time noticing this truck in NoMa and according to the operator, he’ll be back every Tuesday throughout March 2016. I should start off by admitting that I have never had Indonesian food before, but I love Asian food so I was looking forward to giving this truck a shot. I went with the lumpia and the spicy chicken rending. The lumpia was delicious. The outside was light and crispy and the filling was tasty combination of chicken and bamboo shoots. The dipping sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the rolls. I have mixed feelings about the chicken rendang. It was spicy as advertised, not overly so… just a nice kick. The chicken itself was dark meat, which I love seeing in Asian dishes. It was well cooked, nice and tender. No complaints on the rice. I think I had different expectations for the sauce itself. I was expecting more of a creamy sauce, like a Thai or Indian curry. This sauce seemed pretty thin. The spices tasted like they needed to be cooked more. It was alright, but I would like to try different versions of a rendang in order to have something to compare it to. The side salad was pretty paltry and could use a little dressing. This meal was alright, I’m looking forward to trying this truck again to see how their other entrees fair. They had a beef rendang and some other tofu and veggie entrees that sounded interesting…
