I only had the veggie bowl with a fried egg, and I have to say, the portion was pretty small(I believe the total was $ 9). The zucchini was my favorite, but there wasn’t much– some dry shredded carrot, cabbage slaw, and spinach(I did not get lettuce or bean sprouts). The spinach was covered in garlic, which is unfortunate for anyone who speaks to me for the rest of the day. The egg was nice and runny, but I still think the price point and portion size are off– you should get more veggies if you order the veggie bowl. Overall, I was completely unimpressed and didn’t feel like I got anything close to a «lunch”-more like a mediocre snack.

Solid comfort food and hits the spot. Would have preferred the veggies were seasoned with the slightly sweet vinegar sauce I’m used to. I’d also like to see the carrots and radish julienned rather than grated. It’s just more pleasing to the eye. You know what they say about eating with the eyes first. Loved the Spicy pork it was tender and flavorful. Sauces are killer good!

What can I say? Fire and Rice is amazing. As far as food trucks go, their food is delicious, warm, and the sauces they provide are great. I recommend getting a bowl with all of the veggies and a fried egg on top. I also use both sauces on my bowl. The line can sometimes be a bit long, but it’s worth the wait.

Finally got to try the bibimbap here, and it left me disappointed… disappointed in myself for taking so long to try it! It is the best bibimbap I’ve had outside of a hot stone pot. Got myself the spicy pork version which come heavily laden with a mixture of pickled and fresh veggies and a healthy mound of deliciously and perfectly marinated and grilled spicy pork(think: pork bulgogi). Everything is expertly seasoned and the individual ingredients are portioned in a way that ensures a perfectly distributed bite of meat, veggies, and rice with every spoonful. Don’t forget to add a fried egg on top, because if you don’t, you are doing it wrong. Let me take a second to tell you about the sauces. They are FANTASTIC. You have your choice of a sweet brown sauce and a fiery gochujjang, which is a korean chili paste sauce. Using both sauces in a 4:1 ratio(gochujjang: sweet brown) was the perfect way to elevate the rice bowl to next-level badassery. I’m convinced that, if given a chance, the scratch-made gochujjang here could line the pantries of homes and restaurants the world over, nestled right next to the sriracha bottle that everyone has now, if it were to go commercial. That’s how good it is. Also, they have Fresca, my jam since the 1980’s. Bonus points rewarded.

Awesome food. Got the spicy pork bowl with fried egg and all veggies. It was a pleasant surprise to order before 11:45 and get the egg for free. Really quality stuff!

The spicy pork bowl is excellent! The meat is packed full of flavors and is just plain delicious. You have to add the egg on top of the bowl because it just soaks up all that delicious flavor. Make sure you try their spicy red sauce. The vegetables are pretty average, they don’t add much besides texture to the meal. This is a solid bibimbap lunch and the service is a lot quicker than other food trucks. I would definitely recommend giving this Korean food truck a try.

Got the veggie bowl with a fried egg, should have added more sauce than I did. Bowl doesn’t have much flavor, but where it does it’s pretty good. I liked the spinach a lot and everything else was just ok. Not a bad vegetarian option, but not the best either.

Decent. I had the chicken bibimbap. Make sure you get the fried egg. The veggie additions are A-okay, nothing really that stands out. I have heard the pork bowl, and the beef bowl are better options. That red sauce has a real kick to it, so be careful. However, they do have real good service, and don’t make you wait forever. Verdict: Avoid, if you have a better option.

I had the veggie bowl with all the veggies and a fried egg at Truckeroo recently. I hadn’t ever had bibimbap before, but I had to try it when I saw a veggie option available. With the rice, veggies and egg, the bowl really filled me up. Add a generous amount of the sauces on top(because the veggie bowl has no flavor otherwise), and it’s a quick, filling and delicious lunch. I’ll definitely be tracking the truck so I can stop by for lunch when it’s close to work.

This is another solid 3.5. Sticky rice. Added all the veggies. Really loved the seaweed salad. The chicken was not as flavor packed — what’s up with some Korean spots not adding lots of flavor to the chicken?!? But, there sauces were awesome. But, if you don’t love an extra kick like I do stay away from the red paste. Not the best Korean food but a good fix if a better Korean option is not around.

Perfectly fine, but nothing to write home about. Slightly over-priced. I had the spicy pork bowl, which was the spiciest option and not very. Not many accoutrements for Korean food — some seasoned nori and kimchi with my bowl would have been nice. One of these quick bibimbap places needs to create a method for crispy rice. This rice was obviously not crispy and a bit over cooked. Regretted not going to peruvian bros instead.

Yummy bulgogi bowl! I think they need to put more rice in the bowl, though. There’s lots of meat but it needs more white rice. I see a lot of Unilocalers saying that Korengy is better. Sorry, but no. Fire & Rice is second out of the best korean food trucks in the area. Korengy is probably fourth. Korengy’s bowls end up becoming really soggy and soupy. Everything is always crispy and delicious at Fire & Rice, and the egg is perfectly runny.

3.75 stars. As far as rice bowls for lunch go, I’d say that the spicy pork bibimbap with a fried egg is better than Chipotle, but not quite as good as Cava Mezze Grill, mainly because their vegetable game is a little weak. I liked the zucchini and sautéed spinach, but they are stingy with it. And the grated carrot and daikon are nothing special. A little pickling would go a long way, and would give the whole bowl more flavor. That being said the pork itself is well seasoned and tender, and the fried egg was perfectly done for maximum runny glory. And for a food truck their service is speedy, which I appreciate when it’s cold outside. They clearly have their system down.

I work in Metro Centre and look for this truck every day… The spicy pork bowl is my absolute favorite. The pork is well flavored and the spice is incorporated into the dish not just added on top at the end like you see at some of the other food trucks with similar cuisine. The Bulgogi beef bowl is also very good if you are interested in something sweeter over spicy. The proportion of meat to other ingredients is very adequate. They offer«extra meat» for an additional $ 2 and change, but I am glad I tried it «as is» first. I find the amount of protein in all of the bowls to be adequate and would most likely be in a food comma if I added any additional meat. For a food truck, I don’t see how you couldn’t give them 5 stars; especially when there are so many food trucks out there that are just interested in joining the band-wagon, but are not interested in the quality of their food.

They are at Metro Center today and I just had a spicy buldak chicken bowl with fried egg on top and all the veggies except the carrots(my enemy). Also helped myself to a generous amount of gochujang(Korean chili pepper paste). This truck is pretty good. For the rice’s sake, I wish it hadn’t suffered the walk back to the office in 30degree weather, but that’s not anyone’s fault. The vegetables were authentic(pickled cucumber and daikon; sauteed bean sprouts, zucchini and spinach) and fresh, my chicken was tender, my egg was perfectly runny and everything was well-seasoned/flavored. I don’t know how big of a portion other Unilocalers expect but I found that this bowl had a good proportion of rice to veggies to meat, and I was quite satisfied with the amount of food I ate. Another plus was that I got my meal much faster than from other food trucks, which is going to be important with blistering cold weather already upon us. One critique would be that you need stronger spoons! I’m really happy to see you using green materials but these compostable spoons kind of suck for mixing bibimbap. I broke both mine and my husband’s :( Definitely a food truck I’ll look for when I’m homesick or, well, just hungry.

I love bimbimbap but have to give this place 3 stars. I ordered a spicy pork bowl, which was good but not anything amazing. Everything – from the pork to the vegetables to the rice– was decent though. After eating at Korengy, I definitely have to say Fire and Rice is a step down in terms of portions and quality of the food.

love this place and love the food. It could go for more spices and flavoring in the bowl and bit mre meat too. I would love a option for noodles instead of rice too. I like to mix the spicy with the sweet sauce.

Ok… I will not echo everyone But … Get the Spicy Pork Bibimbap Bowl!!! Before I start I do want to say that the best of the best of food trucks will have lines. How they handle these lines is the key. Some of these guys will even give you a cell number to call. What I saw today knocked my socks off! THESE guys have a website that you can order from! Click the desired item and a drop box drops with the modifiers!!! Ok… I have never had … I know, I know, I know… I didn’t know what to do… so I just told him to to top it with everything… Lettuce, sprouts radishes, zucchini and spinach… The guy behind me said, «Are they out of eggs»? Eggs? I didn’t know that you could add a sunny side up egg! Sign me up! The rice was slightly over cooked and mushy. It was at the end of the lunch service so I will not hold that against them. With the exception of the spinach, the vegetables were well seasoned. Not over the top spicy pork but flavorful just the same. Why is everything separated and placed on top if the word actually means, «Mixed rice»? Who cares! This stuff is great!

I initially intended to go to Metro Center to one of my favorite food trucks, however, I went on auto-pilot and headed to Franklin Park instead. I noticed that Fire & Rice was there so I immediately got in line. I saw earlier in the week on Food Truck Fiesta that this new truck had started in DC. They serve bowls of Korean bibimbap of which I am a huge fan. If you’re not familiar with bibimbap, there’s usually rice at the bottom, veggies on top(ranging from carrots, bean sprouts, zucchini, watercress, spinach, carrots, mushrooms, etc etc…), the protein of your choosing(usually bulgogi) and then an over easy or over medium egg sits on top of that mound of awesomeness! On top of the egg is a red Korean sauce(i can’t remember the name) that is not too spicy(some may consider it to be). The proper way to eat the bibimbap is by mixing everything together and just tearing it up… So the offerings at Fire & Rice are bulgogi bowl($ 8.50), spicy pork bowl($ 8.50), buldak chicken bowl($ 8.00) & veggie bowl($ 6.00). So when I got to the truck to order, I was asked if I wanted all of the veggies(nice that they give you the option because I didn’t want the lettuce). But here’s where I get annoyed, they charge a freaking DOLLAR extra for the egg! Wha wha wha??? The EGG is essential the dish… how do you pay extra for it? Why not just charge the $ 9.50, which is in line with what most food trucks charge anyway — and not tell me about the freaking egg being a dollar? all THAT being said, the bibimbap was about as good as any that I’ve gotten at a Korean restaurant. I like the bowl(with optional cover) that it comes in although it seems like they skimp on the bulgogi and veggies. It is because of that and the extra $ 1 for the egg that I’m giving Fire & Rice just three stars. The quality of the food definitely gets 4 stars. It’s much better than Korengy’s bibimbap(with scrambled eggs — WHAT!?)… I’ll probably be back to this truck sometime in the future when I’m hungry for a yummy bibimbap, but hopefully they’ll make some minor changes…
