DC Combat Labs

I took an RPM Conditioning class with Darren Lopez which was equally tough and motivational. Great music, great people, small classes, super clean. The group atmosphere really helps to push you and Darren’s back to basics exercises push you to your limits. I got there early so I watched a kickboxing class as well, which looked like an exhausting blast. Whether you are looking to get fit or hone your MMA skills this spot will welcome you with friendly open arms and then kick your spare tire squarely in the ass.

This was my first experience in combat training and it was quite intense! I did the kickboxing class and I was one of two beginners. Nevertheless, the instructor made much effort to make sure I was properly doing things and not getting left behind. It was also helpful to look on to what other students were doing for guidance. I took a kickboxing class at a local gym so I thought it would be similar. wrong! This class required gloves which I didn’t have and the instructor was nice enough to let me borrow an extra pair. We also used a huge standing punching bag (my favorite part). There are quick water breaks during the class, so be sure to bring a water bottle (Guess who forgot theirs ._​.) and don’t return late from water break or you will be required to do push ups. Lesson learned ^_​^ Everyone in the class seemed very motivated so that is a nice environment to work out in.

The staff was nice, welcoming and cheerful. My class was interesting, kept me moving and the instructor did a good job tailoring it to different fitness levels (other participants were clearly more advanced than me). He also didn’t let me quit much which is the motivation I need and why I prefer working out in a class setting. There was music playing and a time clock to track your progress. I used it to give myself a little motivation.
The place was clean and you are required to take your shoes off so as not to track the outside, inside. They are a new local business and are still working on the space, but overall it was a great experience.
Oh yea… they validate and provide free parking!
