What you’d expect from Capital Grill. Came in for happy hour. Food is decent and the drinks were stiff. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. Nice spot.

The happy hour specials make this place a steal for DC, but the food is pretty mediocre. I had a cocktail and sliders, and my friend had a cocktail and the ahi tacos, and the bill came out to about $ 13/person. The tacos had a nice crunch to them, but they were tiny, while my sliders were actually pretty dry and had the tiniest meat patties I’ve ever seen on a slider. Can’t argue with that price, though, or with the friendly service.

Where do you go when your Senior Executive takes you out for lunch? You go to the Daily Grill! I would describe the Daily Grill as a notch above«casual» dining. They serve your«traditional American» dishes here, but don’t get me wrong, this is not your Ruby Tuesdays or Applebee’s. I ordered the Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad, which was about 10 quarter-size pieces served next to a bed of Asian sesame salad. All were seasoned with the right amount of spice for the tuna and dressing for the salad. For lunch, this was the perfect portion. My colleague ordered the Moroccan spiced chicken, her portion was a bit more like dinner — but who would complain about getting more food?! Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and the ambiance the Daily Grill was on par. I would return, when I have some executive money to splurge.

Guys OMG… so I went back to the Daily Grill for Happy Hour and they completely changed the drinks selection. As I mentioned previously I’m a Mojito girl and would you believe they now have an apple mojito on there. I can’t describe the amazement of this drink. I mean it’s something like what I’d imagine drugs to be like. It’s all smooth and addictive and sneaky strong. I think I might actually either be an alcoholic or in love. I’m not sure. The food was awesome as well.

The meatloaf here is something special! James & I met up here for a late lunch on a late game day Sunday. It’s right across the street from the Luck Bar. James had the club, he asked for no tomatoes… they added then anyway. We had the spinach dip appy which was really good too… toasted & lightly buttered thin slices of garlic bread, very tasty. Good service and a nice dining room.

I have been to Daily Grill a few times now for lunch and like the place. Not your average daily meal kinda place(for me) but this is a good option when you want to have a good dining experience. Reservation/Call ahead is recommended but I have been lucky got get a table by the bar most times with little to no delay. Serving staff is good tho not efficient and quick but that was not a turn off. Food has been good on every occasion. I have generally ordered the burger for my meal and the meat is done to my satisfaction(medium rare). The meal size is decent and I am always full for the rest of the afternoon without feeling bloated. As I said, a good lunch option for when you want to splurge a bit!

I’m confused why this place only has three stars. We came here for a hearty meal on a Sunday night after the marathon and I was very happy. The Food wa delicious. I highly recommend the spinach dip. I had the chop house burger and it was amazing. The service was amazing. We sat right away and wanted for nothing. People should stop being so picky.

Great food, drinks and atmosphere… On a Sunday afternoon the place is lively. They have Happy Hour all day on Sundays and everything we had was top notch. Spicy Mango Margarita Crabcake BLT and Naked Chicken Wings we have no complaints

This is a late post but good food remains on your mind. I had the pan seared trout With mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. The price eludes my mind but the food Was more than worth it. This was my first time eating trout. It was tasty. The carrots were sweet and delish. The ambiance and Wait staff were great. When we go back we will most likely return.

We had very good experiences for dinner and brunch. The Daily Grill provides large portions of well prepared food at reasonable prices; a rare find in downtown DC. The menu provides a nice variety… meatloaf, trout almandine for dinner; Eggs Benedict, Crab Cakes Benedict, French Toast for brunch with bottomless bloody Mary’s and mimosas, and the monkey bread(free) was awesome.

Allison was Awesome. As soon as we sat down & looked up, there she was. We didn’t do a full dinner as we noshed on Appetizers. Her recommendations was on point as we settled for the Ahi Tuna Tacos & Hummus. The tacos came out in a nice four slot serving stand, nice apparatus. The Tuna was seared perfectly quick, avocados & light concoction of dressing. The wonton shells were not greasy & very light tasting. I was happy to see she was kind enough to put the Schiracha Aioli on the side, when she overheard me state my Dairy allergen. She had a very outgoing & cool serving style. Everything was portioned pretty decent, very tasty & very good patron service. Not to mentioned Allison served as a Bartender as well & balanced it all like a Pro. When the tab came, the Manager came over just as full of spirit as can be & applied my New Membership discount. He was so «turns up» about me Unilocaling… I told him that’s what we Unilocalers like to do! Great spot to get your night started… yet I’ll be back for a Happy Hour to see Allison on deck for round two… she’s on super point!

Possibly the worst service I’ve ever received at any bar, a friend and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to take advantage of their happy hour, I was surprised that the place was surprisingly empty but I understood why after my experience. My friend and I sat at the end of bar, which was really filthy by the way, and not even a hello from the bartender… oh okay… when her majesty finally decided to greet the peasants and hand us a menu, we quickly settled on getting 2 sangrias, sounds pretty simple right… wrong! She said«okay», then proceeded to make drinks for other patrons…5 minutes later, she walks away from the bar and is gone for a while… we waited 5 more minutes and when she didn’t return we left, I will definitely not be returning to the establishment

3.5 stars Daily Grill is a traditional American restaurant between Dupont Circle and Farragut West. They serve hearty and big plates of food. I came with a group of nine and made reservations online. It is technically great for large groups, since it has multiple tables for up to 12 guests, but it gets very loud here… so much so that we had to yell across the table to talk to one another. There are lots of staff working during lunch, so the food comes out relatively quickly. Our lunch lasted 70 minutes. What I got — Grilled vegetable plate with mac and cheese instead of brown rice, $ 14 What I thought — Just like most traditional American restaurants, there weren’t many vegetarian options. My meal was definitely the healthiest option on the menu and it happened to be the only vegetarian option(besides the caesar salad). I decided to get mac and cheese, and the server informed me that it had bacon in it. I told him that I changed my mind, but he insisted that they can make it without the bacon. When I took my first bite of the mac, I thought I was safe, but I noticed small pieces that looked like bacon. Alas, it was bacon. That bothered me, since he assured me that they would not use it.

Possibly the worst bar/happy hour service I’ve ever received. No one understands how difficult it is to find good hospitality in Wash DC — but what I experienced today at Daily Grill/18th Street was bad service at its best. Maybe it was my attire — baseball cap, t-shirt and shorts — that he 2 female bartenders thought I wasn’t «the type of guests» they wanted to sit at the bar. I wait a solid three minutes for 1 of them to greet me — I asked for a menu, another minute or 2. I ordered and a few minutes later and I received my cocktail followed by the HH appetizers. After I received my drink or food neither of the bartenders ever asked if everything was good. Had they I would have said the cocktail was very good but my pizza was cold. I placed my credit card in the glass with the bill and one of them promptly processed the CC, giving it back to me in the shinny black check holder — without saying as much of a Thank you. She said nothing just put the check down for me to sign and leave a tip.

A friend of mine and I stopped by Thursday night to get some drinks and possibly dinner. We sat at the bar and waited for someone to notice us. First of all there was no one behind the bar. Fine, maybe they’re in the back getting supplies. We were at the bar for 10 minutes without service. A server came back there to get some water for her tables, but other than that not a soul in sight. We ended up just leaving in frustration, thirsty and hungry. 6÷23÷2015: As an update, someone from the restaurant reached out to me about my review. I didn’t hear from them after I sent them my info, so I reached out to them again. Turns out they had a wrong number. They left a voicemail for me, which I returned, but then I never heard back. I appreciate the attempt at service and it certainly could have updated my review, but it doesn’t look like that is the case. No ill will, but my review now stands firm.

This is really a big place and seems very popular during the busy hour. Not specifically vegetarian friendly but there were 2 – 3 entries that were not watered down version of their meaty counterparts. They had some excellent beer selection, including the regional microbrews. I ended up having spaghetti — cooked and served to perfection. On the whole, If forced to dine with carnivores, vegetarians can manage to find good picks. They obviously don’t go overboard with veggie options though.

So the restaurant opens at 10AM we get here at 12:15 and they have no monkey bread! My friends were here from Texas and this was what they were really looking for was monkey bread. We spoke to the manager Dallas and ask him if you could call one of his other locations noncommittal he did give us a 15% off coupon which well I guess is satisfactory I guess? Don’t think I would come back to eat here again it was just okay Had to ask for refills waitress was nowhere to be found My friend did ask for crispy bacon and was it crispy
