Hands down the best place to get a salad in D.C. Consistently high-quality ingredients from the lettuce to the meats to the vegetables. And they make their own dressing unlike the other competitors in town. Anyone complaining simply doesn’t understand quality. Finally the east coast has a place to get good produce, and it’s all chop’t up in a perfect little salad. Can’t be beat. DON’T CHANGE!

Excellent salad, fast and nice staff. The fixings were fresh and I like the salad dressing options, very good lo-cal stuff.

My first time. This place needs some serious signage: «Order here,» «Follow your salad down the counter,» «Pay here,» etc. For a newbie, the flow was confusing and unexplained. I like the convenience of being able to order a pre-made salad; I understand a lot of people want to customize. But it was confusing and a little annoying to be asked questions about my salad that I thought I had answered just by saying«Santa Fe» please. Chopper: «What kind of dressing?» Me: «The one that comes on the Santa Fe, please.» Chopper: [Confused look] «It’s spicy.» Me: «That’s fine.» I get that they’d rather err on the side of asking than have a customer freak out at them for not asking a question, but I think for me combined with the lack of signage or general clarity about how I was supposed to proceed, it was kinda stressful. The salad is pretty good. A little soggy. The flatbread is not great. I might try this place again, but I will also likely try that other made-to-order salad lunch place in the neighborhood.

I like to give credit where it’s due. I order form this Chop’t all the time, and earlier this week had an issue where my order was never delivered. The manager called me, issued a refund, and an apology, and sent me lunch today on him. Customer service MORE than makes up for an occasional glitch. THANKYOU!!!

Great place with great salads and options! I kind of like it more than sweet greens because it has so many other options! Also the salads are way bigger!

Best salad place ever. Every time I go through NOVA/DC we always stop here. The Mexican Caesar Salad with Avocado is my favorite! You can’t beat the price, dressings, ingredients, and service!

Enjoyed this place while on our visit in DC. Lots of flavors and options, not your typical salad experience!

This place really changes if it is busy or slow. I came here at night once and got much better service, in terms of how much they let me make ingredients, dressing, and chopping specifications about my salad, then when I came here during lunch rush. I guess that’s normal, I just feel rushed at lunch. I would recommend the Vegetarian Powerhouse salad with shrimp. It had so many ingredients and was very hearty and delicious. The other salad I got was the Asian something. I thought they put too much Chinese crispy noodles on it and there wasn’t enough tofu. The bread here I think is just awful. It’s like a little pita slice.

Came here for lunch while I was working downtown, very fast and efficient. Decent portion sizes.

We got to Chop’t around 3:30pm on a Thursday and it was empty. I got the Vegetarian Powerhouse with chicken — it had everything I wanted: edamame, cranberries, walnuts, apples, greens. I took the suggestion from the menu and had it with the balsamic vinaigrette. It was pretty good — it was a perfectly satisfying salad, but nothing I would crave or mmmmmm’ed about as I ate. You can add or leave out whatever ingredient as you wish, which is great.

They have good salads, but I wouldn’t feel the need to go out of my way to get it(hence not quite reaching the 4 star level). I got the Palm Beach(avocado, tomato, cucumber and hearts of palm) and added spinach and steak with jalapeño pesto dressing. The steak is tender, not much seasoning. The dressing was nice at first but after several bites seemed too tangy. The«pesto» name is misleading to me. I was expecting a basil pesto base, but between the super tang and the heat(surprisingly spicier than I expected) I couldn’t really get any basil that I was hoping for. The salads are a large portion though, which is nice. But I guess if you want your customers to be satisfied by a pile of leaves, you have to give a good amount. If you get add-ons to make your salad more substantial/to your tastes, it will add up. $ 10+. Seating is limited. There are mostly two-tops and a couple of long tables. There are some four-tops on the patio, but now it’s November. Seems more of to-go type of situation or sit community-style. We were there at 3:45pm, so the place was empty then and we had no problem. I’ll go out of convenience because it’s downstairs of my work, but that will probably be the limit of my relationship with Chop’t.

I get delivery a few times per week. This is one of the few places that allows me to get a Kale salad, and have it delivered as well. By weight its a great deal. It usually comes within 40 minutes or so and if you order before noon you can get a custom salad with 5 toppings for $ 5.99, I think the order minim is $ 7 so I always pick some other toppings and ask for both mixed in and an additional dressing. Here is my standard mix Customer Craft Salad(Before Noon) = $ 6.98 +(Tax/tip) * Kale * Jalapeños * Broccoli * Hard-Boiled Egg * Kalamata Olives * Pickled Broccoli & Carrot Slaw * Crumbled Blue Cheese $ 0.99 * Mexican Caesar Dressing * Dressing Mixed in * Extra Dressing On The Side

I love any and all CHOPT locations. I’m so happy there is a veggie place like this. Its all veggies! And people shouldn’t complain about the portion size because it’s ALL veggies! If you can eat a whole burger and fries, then you should be able to eat a very large salad fully loaded with veggies! ;D

Today is the day. I’m breaking up with you, Chop’t. Every time I eat here, it’s just OK. I thought that maybe I just wasn’t a salad person, but I like the salads that I make at home, and I like Sweetgreen. I think the first problem with Chop’t is that they use too much lettuce — there’s no way, unless you order $ 20 worth of toppings — that this salad will be proportional. That being said, my past 3 salads have been made incorrectly. Sometimes I find extras in my salad, like corn, or sometimes my salad is missing the $ 1.50 avocado that I paid for. The first time, I figured it was just the lunch rush, or maybe someone else’s salad got mixed into mine a little. No big deal… But then I ordered their seasonal caprese. Caprese salads are my favorite, but after reading the description for this one, I feel like I had set the bar at average and had a realistic expectation of what I’d be getting. First of all, the lettuces were not as advertised, there was NO dressing(I made sure to specifically ask for dressing online), and they didn’t put tomatoes on it! No tomatoes on a caprese! The description said that I’d be getting some fancy heirloom tomatoes, but do you know what I got instead? Pickled sweet peppers. They weren’t bad, but they were a bad mistake for that salad. AND it cost $ 13. So today, I decided I’d give them one last shot. I ordered the same salad that I get at Sweetgreen. All of the lettuce was at the top with no dressing, and my avocado was all at the bottom. Bad chopping/mixing! AND they forgot my regular, non-heirloom tomatoes! I know we aren’t talking high quality gourmet here, but for $ 10-$ 13 a salad, I expect a little better. Sorry Chop’t, we are never ever ever getting back together.

More than 3 stars, but not quite 4. Here’s the thing about Chop’t, I really like the salads about half of the time. For a while I thought it was simply because I hadn’t chosen the best salad for me, so I’ve tried them all. They’re solid, but I don’t go home wishing I could have it again, which happens with all foods I really enjoy. I know people think the fact that they chop it up for you is cool, but really it just makes them the coldstone of salads. Fun to watch, but doesn’t serve a serious purpose.

I stopped by Chop’t after rush hour and lucky for me, it was not crowded at all. As soon as I walked in though and after taking a look at the selections and the prices, I immediately assumed it probably gets super crowded for lunch. After reading other reviews, this seemed to be the case, and I completely understand why. I was greeted right away while looking at the menu and all of the employees who served me had great personalities and a sense of humor… That’s a huge plus in my books because, for me, great food doesn’t mean near as much without friendly employees :) I ordered the Cobb chicken salad which was a generous portion for under $ 10. They also have Puck’s crème soda… A cool addition… and my first time trying it. My only complaint would be the dressing. Not sure if it’s just the balsamic vinaigrette, but it was pretty bland for my taste buds. Looking forward to trying another salad my next visit.

I kept going back again. I’m a fan and when I was visiting I suggested to a relative who lives here that we meet at Chopt, she was enthusiastic because she loves it here too. Kind of a «supervise-your-own» salad bar where you order a salad and follow the artist/chopper person down the bar adding extras to your liking. Very clean, fresh, and affordable. I like big portions and I wasn’t disappointed here. I ate at a couple other locations which were just as good. I wish these franchises were everywhere.

Salad places abound where I work. Not crazy about Corner Bakery salads… Cosi is okay. However, I think Chop’t has the best variety and options. They also give a great portion. I wish they gave an extra piece or two of that bread(also ask them to put it in foil separately not stuffed in your salad bowl — hot bread in cold salad is no bueno — bread is a weird texture by the time you sit down to eat). My fave is the Mexican Cesar. I add eggs chickpeas and red onions to mine. Be careful with you add on’s though — they could add up in $$!The line gets long some days so it’s also nice that you can order in advance online if you are in a rush. Santa Fe and Chopt Po Boy is also pretty good. I like that they customize to your liking(how chopped and how much dressing). Also, today I noticed a lady in line had a really odd/slightly annoying order but the salad maker was really awesome and patient with her so I do think their service is really good too. This location does not have tons of seating but haven’t had a major issue finding a seat if I do stay in.

I know the place is called«chop’t» and salads get all chopped up, but I think they overdo the chopping. And once the greens and other things have been all cut up and drenched in dressing, they start losing water. If you don’t eat quickly enough, you’re left with a big ol’ bowl of soupy green stuff. Pass. I can see the appeal, however, and I don’t begrudge people their super chopped up salads, but I am of the opinion that there are far superior lunch options within the vicinity.
