Today is Good Friday so I can only have fish today. The location is right where NY Ave and US-50 meet. I pulled into the parking lot and walked up to the window and was greeted by the order taker/cashier. I ordered a #8 again which is the double fish meal. It didn’t take long before my order was ready. Since it was kinda warm today I decided to eat at Checkers. When I opened my order I was excited because they got the order correct and both the sandwich and the fries were piping hot… YES! The only reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars is because NY Ave is extremely loud with a considerable amount of traffic so having a conversation was very difficult but all in all I had a good experience compared to my last Checkers experience, not at this location; this experience was 10X better so I will definitely be back. I had no problem entering or exiting the premises… thanks Checkers NY Ave for restoring my faith in your company (Arnold Schwarzenegger voice) I’ll be back

It’s food… can’t say it’s great but it’s open late. Don’t be picky just order by the meal number. Otherwise it could be icky or sticky or worse. Be polite and you might have a good experience.

We arrived late into D.C. and needed some place to eat. So why not go here? It looked like it was poppin so we wanted to drop by. Turns out, that the drive through service is a bit spotty. We waited in front of the intercom for a good 5 minutes while the person on the other end kept telling us to wait… WAITFORWHAT?! WEWANTTOORDERDAMNIT! Anyways, the menu is pretty extensive, the food is not bad at all, their fries are pretty good though. So I’m giving this 3 stars based on the service of the night. But I will say that their food is pretty darn good, especially the fries!

SLOWMOTION is the theme for this review. I mean how do you have 2 lines and it takes 10 min per vehicle. I had 3 cars in front of me and I still was stuck in line for almost 30 min and wouldn’t you know it I get my food and looked like I ordered a kids meal. My thing is if you raise the prices then raise the quality and/or quantity of my food.

Whenever we get in the mood for milkshakes, we think about going to Checkers. I only order from the discount menu because I don’t want the calories of a giant milkshake. This location is in a weird spot on New York Avenue. There must be good hotel guest and local customers. The drive thru area seems like an accident waiting to happen. There are many umbrella covered tables for eating outside on a nice day but I wouldn’t want to linger in this area, even in daylight. There is a running theme from previous visits but I will focus on my most recent one. There were ants all over the small counter area outside of the sliding«order» side window. The cashier/order taker did not smile or seem interested in my business. There was a notice on the sliding window that had an address where you could give feedback. When the employee noticed me trying to copy it, she kept the window open to prevent me from seeing it. The food isn’t healthy or good for you but banana milkshakes are yummy. You may get a tasty shake, but don’t expect a hug from anyone.

Very good burgers and other goodies at unbelievable affordable prices. Don’t waste your money at some of the expensive burger places like the shake shack. Try checkers first.

THISISTHEWORSTFASTFOODRESTAURANT I’VEEVERBEENTO. I WOULDGIVEIT0STARSIF I COULD. A friend and I spend OVER20MINUTES(after we ordered– and no I’m not exaggerating I was watching the clock) in the drive-thru with one car in front of us. The staff looked like they were just have a good time and being as slow as possible from the window. By the time 20+ minutes rolled by and we finally got to the window we were pissed off(and late to where we were going) and they gave me a fruit punch or something instead of my diet coke. To top it off there was a homeless man waiting by the drive-thru window asking for money as people paid for their food.

We were in a rush, so we thought a drive-through fast-food joint like this would be quick. HUGE mistake. We waited at the order box for 10 – 15 minutes and NOONE answered. Then we decided to pull ahead and ended up being stuck in the drive-through between other cars for half an hour without having ordered any food. When I called up the manager and asked him to do something about the fact that we were trapped in the dysfunctional drive through lane, he started spewing insults about the other customers in the drive-through lane instead of doing anything about the problem. I ended up not ordering anything and going to the McDonald’s down the street, where at least they have their act together.

the burgers are small here. Like Mickey Ds double cheeseburger sized… and for the price its really not worth it. The food tastes decent, but nothing special. The only thing that’s really good here are the fries.

The service was extremely slow no professionalism and definitely not efficient! I don’t care if it’s a $ 1or a gourmet get it together!

Oh man Oh man. This location has to be the MESSIEST place ever! I mean that in a good and bad way. Good as in the staff is definitely the local type to where it could either cause some to question them or you’ll just enjoy them as you get to experience how they interact with each other and the customers. Bad in which you’ll be waiting forever for your food. Doesn’t matter if you’re in Drive Thru or standing in line. The wait is there. And the location isn’t the safest place to be. All kinds of stuff goes down there. Yet and still I LOVE this place!

In still sitting here waiting on my food. 10 minutes later I’m thinking I should have went to the Exxon across the street and grabbed a snickers bar, came back and my food still wouldn’t have been ready. Well, at least my food was done…

I didn’t have any shady experiences with the drive-thru, but can’t the Checkers chain expand in this region?! Their fries can’t be beat, their burgers are better than the other fast food options, and its cheap. And seriously, these are the BEST fast food fries you will find: battered, seasoned, delicious. My best memories of Padres games as a youth was eating Big Buford burgers and Rally’s(Checker’s) fries while watching the Padres go on to a 100 loss season. This location is located right where 50 turns into New York Avenue, and is a good pitstop if you are cutting through the city. Geographically, it’s the closest one to Arlington, although I’ve been known to drive to the Richmond Highway location in Alexandria also… Seriously, the fries are good enough to drive that far.

You know what the food is like if you’ve ever been to this chain. It’s also the same thing as Rally’s if you’ve ever been to one of those. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fries(crispy and covered in pepper, they’re so yummy), it’s your typical fast food. Checkers is either drive-thru or outside tables which is what really makes this location suck. Place right where 50 ends and NY Ave begins, if you sit outside you’ll be breathing in massive amounts of exhaust as you listen to cars honk and tires squeal. Also, with all the traffic, it can be difficult to get in and out of their lot.
