My experience with them was minimal but nonetheless a great experience from beginning to end. I needed an appraisal done on some jewelry and they offered me not only the fairest price out of all of their competitors but also awesome customer service! I needed the appraisal documents asap so they offered me the convenience of reaching out to the appraiser and offering to send it via email as soon as possible. Someone I worked with stopped by to have a watch part fixed and they went above and beyond to show they valued him and wanted to earn his business going forward. I would definitely recommend this team for your jewelry related needs.

Inherited a large number of pieces of fine jewelry and got some excellent help here. Appraisals for insurance purposes on 20+ pieces and they have redone a diamond bracelet for me from a gaudy antique piece into something beautiful and wearable. Appreciate the good customer service and advice. Also like the downtown location — able to take care of things over lunch from work. Always felt like they were honest and good to work with.

Very frustrating experience trying to get my ring repaired at the downtown store. The woman I dealt with (several times) was patronizing to the point of insulting — she implied that the ring was going to require a lot of work so I asked for an estimate. A week later, after an unreturned phone call and a visit, where I asked her to give me the ring back (and I discovered that the jewelry repair takes place at their other store in Friendship Heights), I received an estimate. At that point, I just wanted my ring back; I took it half a block up the street to Bensons, where it was repaired by someone onsite for exactly half the price.

Joe at Chas Schwartz & Son has been great to work with — he is very knowledgeable and customer friendly. He helped me find the perfect wedding rings for myself and my fiancé, and happily sent back my fiancé’s ring for resizing at no charge once it came in and I realized I had over-​estimated the size when I ordered it to propose with! Highly recommended.

Purchased an engagement ring here last week. According to Elaine who was a sweet woman and an invaluable aid in my search, this jeweler is the oldest of it’s kind in DC. They mixed up the initial delivery of the ring, but the quality of their antique collection made up for it.
