Wow. The service is absolutely horrible. Both times we tried the wait for service was incredibly long with only a handful of people. Additionally I was over charged twice! The first time the server said the manager wasn’t there and nothing could be done. The second time I disputed the extra 3.5 on my order the server went for their manager. And left me waiting for 15 minutes. The only reason to eat here is if you have no other choice.

Pleasantly surprised. Took advantage of the excellent happy hour menu, out the door for $ 20 for quick preflight meal. The BLT was fantastic; crisp bread & bacon and nice thick juicy slices of tomato. Will definitely stop in again for the happy hour on future trips.

We stopped in for breakfast because the smell was awesome. But, they’re not food allergy friendly, unfortunately. No substitutions, no al a carte options. No alternatives. The décor was very nice though.

Small, quiet, and nothing«special». I’ve stopped in here a few times this weekend and have only seen 1 employee, although I haven’t seen many customers, and I haven’t had to wait for service either. The menu is small and unimpressive, but I have not eaten here — only stopped in for drinks. Happy hour is everyday from 4 — 7.

Glad this bar was there for us after s long fat traveling to DC. Friendly bartenders, a nice atmosphere, strong drinks, and good bar food. A better beer selection would be a welcome addition. We ended up going to happy hour here a couple of times. $ 4 rail drinks and discounted appetizers.

Excellent hotel. Horrible restaurant. As a guest of the hotel for five nights I gave Chartwell a chance three times. For dinner one night I ordered the salmon salad, which was unfortunately served with pickled vegetables. The salmon(supposedly fresh caught from the Atlantic) was slightly overlooked. My breakfast was a complete disaster — the eggs seemed to have cooked in a cheap inferior oil instead of butter and were overlooked. The dish was supposed to come wi potatoes but a bowl of over ripe fruit was substituted. And the wheat bread was generic bottom shelf crap with brown food coloring. As for the coffee, I couldn’t tell if it was Folgers or Maxwell House. As a nod to my stupidity, I tried Chartwell one more time. First I was given a glass of iced tea that was no less than room temperature. I asked for more ice and was poured more tepid tea. This was at about the same time my soggy tasteless vegetable panini arrived — accompanied by wilted cole slaw. On a positive note, the sweet potato fries were acceptable.

I was the only one at the place on a Sunday afternoon. I had the turkey panini which was good. The bartender/server(he was the only one working) did a great job of checking on me but keeping his space. Good food and good service. I am staying at the Churchill so I figured I would give this place a try. If you’re staying here I would check it out!

Service was friendly. French onion soup was blah but was nice and hot. I had the turkey club which was OK but think it could have been more wholesome.

One of the worst hotel restaurant food I had. The quesailla was bad, and the«salad» it supposedly to come with it was simply a few leaves(litterally, less than 10 leaves). The environment was a bit outdated. Given the number of great restaurants down the street near DuPont Circle and on 18th street, I will certainly not return.

The fries taste like McDonald fries ~ they were awesome ! I had a club sandwich which was big and fresh. The tiramisu was also AMAZING! The price was fair and the service was great.

My department ate here for kind of a «working» lunch, and it was just right. This restaurant is attached to the Churchill Hotel, and is not too formal or too casual. The lunch menu was really nice, and included soups(French Onion, Tomato bisque, Chowder?), salads, and various sandwiches and lunch-portion entrees. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and it came with french fries and a small salad with house vinaigrette. The sandwich had a real chicken breast, with a delicious whole-grain mustard. It was on a soft whole-grain ciabatta-type bread that was soft and flavorful. The french fries were great – they actually tasted so similar to McDonald’s fries that it was weird… good weird. My colleagues had the French Onion and Tomato Bisque, which they enjoyed, but all of them did add salt and/or pepper. They also had the club sandwich(looked super fresh), crab cake, and Caesar salad. No one had any complaints. Now the service was really weird. The server that was helping us was very… uncouth? He was speaking very loud and quickly, and it kind of felt like the service you’d get at a diner or bar, not a quiet restaurant. At one point my boss asked a question, and the server answered it, but as he was walking away, and he didn’t bother to turn around to do it! The service was very distracting during our lunch meeting, and actually made us stop and laugh a few times. Funny, but not *funny* funny… if you know what I mean. Despite weirdo waiters, I would definitely go back here for lunch… it seems kind of like a hidden gem in the area. Dupont restaurants can be a zoo at lunchtime, and this place wasn’t. We first tried to eat lunch at the Hilton across the street, but that place was beyond zoo… it was utter chaos! If you are at the Hilton or a local business and are looking for a quiet, reasonably-priced lunch, give the Chartwell a go.
