I bought the Groupon for this place, and have been trying to call, at various times of the day, to make a reservation for the past few weeks. They NEVER answer! How do you make a reservation? What are the hours? I really was hoping to use the Groupon, but I feel like it’s going to expire before I ever get a hold of them!

This place is the worst to get in touch with. I have tried calling over and over for the past few days to make reservations and there has not been any answer. If it wasnt for the groupon deal i bought i would have stopped trying after the second time calling. If this is how you do business then i’d rather take it elsewhere. Will call groupon to try and get a refund back. To everyone else DON’T waste your money on this groupon deal! Worst service without giving service!

We bought a groupon for this place and tried using it twice. The first time they were closed because some mechanical equipment was broken. Last night, there was a sign on the door indicating that they were closed for good due to health code violations.

Tried going here Friday night(aug 29th) for dinner and there was a notice on the front door stating the health department has closed this restaurant.

Did the groupon for fajitas and bottomless margs — it was very worthwhile. Liked the fajitas a lot and the margaritas were huge! Kind of a dinky place but that didn’t bother me. Good service. Only complaint is that they charge extra for everything with the fajitas — sour cream, cheese, guac, extra tortillas etc. I wish it was just all included.

Used the groupon deal with some friends and it was amazing! Service was great, wait staff was really nice. Very generous with margarita and fajita portions. Food was very flavorful and filling even as a shared entrée. Would definitely go back, groupon or not.

Ok: so 5 starts for food and 1 star for drinks — so I figured I would average the two. My girlfriend and I went a little while ago with a Groupon. We called ahead to reserve a table(even though they were all open when we did arrive the next day). So we decided to sit outside — it was a nice day, plus there was a very odd smell indoors. We couldn’t decide what fajitas to get — so the waiter/owner actually let us combine our orders. We ended up with half seafood(salmon and shrimp) and half steak. It was a very good combo! It was served over veggies and rice/beans were on the side. They were both pretty plain, so it was good to put them all together in the itty bitty fajita wraps. We also had chips and salsa before our meal — all of which was very tasty, hot, and fresh. The drinks, however, were a complete miss! We decided to start with the margaritas(the groupon was for endless margaritas and/or sangria). They came in VERY large pint-like glasses with a handle. It was obvious it had been made with some sort of mix because it was very syrupy and tasted off. So we switched to sangria. It was worse. Honestly: tasted like melted jell-o shots. There was really no fruit and it was entirely too sweet. I think I made it through 2.5 drinks that night(not a lot for 2 hours) which is why I was SO confused why I woke up with a pounding headache the next morning! Probably a lot of sugars in there, it wasn’t a good combo. I’d highly recommend the food, sitting outdoors, but stay away from the sugary drinks! Grab a cerveza instead :)

Bought groupon. Came with family to do the tourist thing. Seriously the good is great. Had steak and shrimp fajita and they were so good! The margaritas kept coming and are not watered down at all. Had chips and salsa and the salsa was so good. I know they are a bit understaffed but the waiter was awesome, he did a great job taking care of us. Great deal great food!

We had an awesome time here! We got the chicken and shrimp fajitas and it was season just right and fresh. The sangria was delicious and the margaritas were great. They give you huge mugs and very generous with reifills. Wait staff were very friendly and helpful. .will come back again.

So, I bought the Groupon because I thought it was such a great deal, however It really wasn’t! I made a reservation about 1 hour prior per the groupon instructions… upon arrival I was a little shocked at the establishment… It was down some steps which led to a small outside area(I was thinking more of an Aleros time of establishment)…we waited for about 2 minutes for a host to come to the front to seat us, we chose to sit outside.(The place had a total of maybe 8 people). Something about the outside felt dirty, I just felt like a rat would appear at somep point. Had I not bought the Groupon I would have probably left … Sothe waiter brings us out chips and salsa which was pretty good but the chips holder wasn’t cleaned at the bottom, it looks as f there were crumbs on it from the previous guest. With the groupon you got either bottomless Sangria or Margarita’s I chose Sangria which was very sweet and syrupy like… they serve them in big jars so in reality you will only drink two so that really isn’t bottomless… the food was fajitas’ for two. They were decent but you have to pay extra for cheese, sour cream and an extra fajita shell. The service was pretty slow it was only 2 employees and one of the waiters was the bartender. Basically, I would never come here again just because the place felt dirty to me and something just didn’t seem right!

I SHOULDHAVEWENTTOHAYDEESONMT. PLEASENT. This is my very 1st review, I felt obligated… just left Café Marisol… I was very excited about this place due to the $ 40 groupon(fajitas for 2 and bottomless margaritas/sangria) however, I very very very disappointed for the following reasons: (1) we arrived at around 9:15, there was no host at the door so we approached the bar and asked bout seating. The busboy told us it was self seating, so we found a booth and took a seat. We waited for at least 17 minutes before we flagged down a server. He was apologetic, but still… we DID sit there for almost 20 min and had NOONE acknowledge our presence. The place is pretty small so I don’t see how a table can fall through the cracks like that. (2) after flagging down a server, he informed us that the unlimited margaritas weren’t ready so we should order the sangria(both were included in the groupon). We ordered the sangria and before we could tell him that we’re ready to order, he disappeared. We had already had plenty of time to look at the menu so we were ready for sure. About 7 minutes pass by and a different server approaches our table and ask if we’ve been helped. We say«yes, but we would like some additional help». This server informs us that we can have margaritas and says he’ll be back to take out orders. Another 15 minutes pass by… and then he brings water, margaritas and takes our order…45MINUTESLATER… that same server stops by to ask of we’ve ordered food. I look at him kind of astonished because we had already ordered food… with him… almost and hour earlier. (3) the groupon included unlimited drinks, however, because the servers kept«overlooking» our table, we only got ONEDRINK A PIECE !! I paid $ 40 on groupon for fajitas for 2 and unlimited drinks! And I literally got a fajita serving(arguably for one) and 2 drinks… what a waste of $ 40. I would have come out better now even buying the groupon. THe food is decent but the service SUCKS… haydees on mt. pleasent is a lot better!

Ick! Shortly after we ordered, a LARGERAT walked right across the floor from the kitchen area to the bar. On a positive side, the service was so slow that we hadn’t even gotten our drinks before we had the opportunity to walk out.

Let me start this review with the understanding that this place is new and SEVERELY understaffed… With that said, we bought a groupon for fajitas and bottomless sangria/margarita for $ 40(amazing deal nonetheless). The food was amazing and super fresh, while the drinks were huge and really flavorful. Clearly, the groupon was intended to bring people into this new place, but if they don’t start to hire more staff they will surely fail. You couldn’t even count the amount of people constantly looking for assistance. Only 3 people on staff, plus one cook, on a Friday night!!! I hope they start hiring because the food and low key atmosphere is legit. Once they figure out the staffing issue, they’ll get 5 stars from me. I just hope they make it to that point before they irritate too many people.

Ok so we called in to reserve a table, like the groupon says, and the manager says there is space and then hangs up on me. So we walk to this place and it seems nice and cutesy. We probably waited 10 minutes before we get attention from the waitress/hostess? They are definitely understaffed. They only had three staff which includes the manager and two waiters. So we sit down and wait about 15 minutes before a waiter comes by. Actually the manager comes by and asks for our order. We order our margaritas and fajitas. And they come pretty fast as if it was already pre made. Then the chips and salsa is extra. What Mexican restaurant doesn’t include chips and salsa complimentary. The food was good tho and so were the margaritas. We ordered the bottomless option, but have been waiting still for it. It seems people just go up to the manager to complain. I even saw some people just walk out because of the service. They have poor service. The manger just runs the show. Running from the kitchen to bring food. He is also the main bartender and he also talks to the costumers. And only has two staff. They are nice but always busy. And then they ran out of margaritas. The waitress said the manager will make a new batch in a minute. Ha! We waited. That was foolish of us. They should’ve comped us for something. We spent most of our time here WAITING! I don’t know if we would come again. Maybe we came at a bad time. But still that’s no excuse. We were going out for our anniversary and it was disappointing. Most likely won’t come back.

Can I just say… THISPLACEROCKS! My Co-workers and I were surfing the web for a margarita spot in Dupont. When this place came up we decided to give it a try since it is right off 17th street. For starters the service is amazing, Tom(Our Server) was quick with recommendations and proved the authenticity of each dish by describing it. Super cool! The best part is they offer Botttomless Margaritas for $ 24 a person… you just can’t beat that… at lest not in DC. On to the food, we decided to order the fajitas since you can smell the sizzle from our neighboring tables dish… and another win… seriously, well marinated and full with flavor. I can’t give this place less than five stars because I had an amazing time with friends and they delivered on the food and booze.

I was sad to see Malgudi go, but I’m happy to report that a great Mexican restaurant opened in its place. I was walking down P street with some friends and stopped to look at the menu when the server came outside and started talking to us about the restaurant. I was reluctant to eat there since the menu didn’t look that special, but he won us over. That first visit(I’ve been back twice, since) we had the nachos, quesadillas, and fajitas — all of them were great! They didn’t just throw some toppings on it, the toppings were layered perfectly so there was plenty for all of the chips. The quesadillas were also excellent. The staff are very nice, and extremely accomodating — I’m a vegetarian, and on my next visit they made me a tofu/veggie fajita(it wasn’t even on the menu). I also recommend the sangria pitchers — warning: they are huge and strong, so bring friends! I hope this place is able to make it — we needed a decent mexican restaurant near 17th!
