Walked in and saw all the shelves with alcohol spirits and realized this Shopette is also the Class VI or Package Store. The guys that came before me always called them Package Stores. Basically your on base/post liquor store. So I’ve always called them that but some know them as Class Six Stores. Why Class VI? Military logistics has ten classes of supply. Everything is classified in the military. From bullets to bedspreads. Class VI — Personal demand items(such as health and hygiene products, soaps and toothpaste, writing material, snack food, beverages, cigarettes, batteries, alcohol, and cameras – nonmilitary sales items). Class VI happens to be the one that alcohol falls in and so the«package store» became known as the Class VI Store. Shopettes are typically where you can get some smaller items when you can’t get to the Exchange. Same items and same prices. It’s more like a 7 Eleven+. The hours are always longer so you can pick up some things to get you by. This Shopette has a decent stock of food/snacks and personal items. This is also the gas station with prices cheaper than off-base.

Always cheaper gas available across the bridge in Virginia. Shop is over 50% booze and limited ‘everything else.’ ALWAYS have to wait in line at the register here. I think it’s required to stand on line longer than your shopping time.
