B. Salon

The very best. It took me half my life to find Blane and B Salon and I have never left. My entire family, grandma, husband and kids won’t go anywhere else. It’s not just a haircut, Blane is an artist — and my hair looks great whether i take the time to style it or let it dry naturally.

It is easy to see why my aunts have been going to Blane for 20+ years. Not only is he a master at cut and color; but he literally transformed my hair into something it hasn’t been in years– stylish, healthy and something that really makes me feel beautiful. He also spent time to show me what he did and how and the best way for me to keep up with it at home. No pushy retail sales and the receptionist and his assistant couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. I genuinely enjoyed talking with Blane and just the entire experience. 5 stars all the way!

Extremely disappointed. Blane used to cut my hair and I was a great client. And then I moved from DC. Fast forward, when I recently returned to DC and tried to make an appointment I was told that Blane was booked for the next four years. Please. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Wow. Why haven’t I gone here before? Fifi did a fantastic blowout, and I watched one of the stylists give an amazingly precise haircut. Friendly staff, great products (Morroccan Oil and Phyto). Blake, the owner, checked to make sure I was happy woth my hair. That was a nice touch.

There is no hair salon better than B Salon in all of DC. I first saw Blane on the recommendation of a friend, to style my hair for my wedding, and Blane did a phenomenal job. I’ve gone to him ever since, and over the years Blane has never disappointed — his skill (and speed!) are truly amazing, and his rates are beyond reasonable. My hair is unruly and curly and he somehow manages to make magic with it every time. And since actions speak louder than words, I’ll just say this: I have sent my best friend, college roommate, sister, and even my own mother there, and all have become part of his devoted clientele. All the stylists are friendly and extremely skilled. I’m very grateful B Salon is here!

I moved to Washington DC in 2000 and my cousin was working at the White house. I needed a stylist and I was extremely picky. I liked her hair and she strongly recommended Blane. He was already doing all her friends hair and all her family’s hair — all good signs.
I went when my aunt was getting her hair done, so I could observe and ask him questions — a gentle and efficient way to «interview» Blane and see him at work.
He is extremely consistent, so what I observed then, I still observe to this day:
1 Very gentle person, calm, open, kind, sensitive to your needs, good listener
2 AMAZING skills — particularly for color and for cuts — my cuts make me tickled pink as I leave the salon, make me blush with pride with every ensuing compliment (and I get A LOT of them for my hair — not because of me — its always because of BLANE) and the cut always look better and better as time goes on.
3 He is clean, organized, prepared, timely, you never feel rushed in your appointment and he makes each person feel like #1 for the time you are with him
4 He creates a community — he introduces me to other clients and we chat while were there. I have developed one really dear friendship as a result of his introductions! I think he is a closet-​Southerner for this point, even though he is actually from the mid-​west.
5 He surrounds himself with other talented folks who have the same strong positive values he has therefore you find serenity at his salon, warmth, cleanliness, organization, professionalism, consistency, etc…
I cannot speak highly enough of Blane. Thank you for 13 years of hair joy and satisfaction — I can NOT imagine ever changing and I make every effort to be respectful of your time — by being on time and working politely to change when necessary — because mutual respect is at the heart of every relationship. I have recommended countless people who are now also his clients and we all talk about him behind his back — to say how much we love him.

After 13 years of being a client at this salon, Blane the owner, fired me as a client because I canceled my appointment due to a medical emergency. Seriously??? This is after he used permanent color on me while i was pregnant… I have never used permanent color, and my color was always organic. Maybe he ran out of it??? But if so, ask me if I want to use this new product…
I have supported his business for many years and have recommended a bunch of friends to him, but no wonder they don’t go back.
Rude, terrible customer service and does not appreciate his clients! He thinks he is the best in town… You are far from that!
I do not recommend this salon to anyone.

Blane and Joel are the most amazing stylists and people! Blane has been styling my hair for 15 years and is the only person I trust with my hair (other than Joel) I move a lot, but no matter where I am, I always fly back to DC to go to B Salon! My red hair is pretty unmanageable and they are the only people who know exactly what I want without having to say a word. I love Blane, Joel, and B Salon! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

What, only 2 reviews? Well, this salon is spot on. All the stylists are very friendly and very informative. Karla was my stylist and she gave me ideas on what kind of haircut to get, tips to maintain it etc. Also, she cut it very well (I look damn good if I don’t say so myself). I am lucky to have this salon in my neighborhood!

Blane has been styling my hair for over 5 years now. He has taken an unruly head of hair and transformed it into a sophisticated, easy to handle, style. And he has a talent choosing the correct color. But most importantly he stayed with me through the loss of my hair due to chemotherapy… picked out a wig, styled it, helped me maintain it, and has created style for me as my hair has grown out. There are not enough words to express my gratitude, love and admiration for Blane. And to top it off, the entire staff is very welcoming… hugs all around.

My experience was very welcoming. Karla had time to take me in the afternoon of the morning I stopped by on a bike ride. They are committed to the neighborhood and run an efficient, clean and stylish salon. All I needed (desperately!) was a cut, and she took careful time to discern my needs and lifestyle. The results are fantastic. The price was spot-​on. I will definitely recommend this salon to everyone I know.

Blane has been my stylist for about 20 years, including a brief period where he lived in Florida and came to DC once a month or so to cut hair! He is a master of cut and color, and I get compliments and requests for referrals from friends and clients all the time. I almost hate to review him, as he is already booked solid with loyal customers, but it’s only fair when he’s been so great for me:) His other stylists are also very nice and skilled, from what I’ve seen some of the best around. They are also reasonably priced, and it’s easy to find street parking near their place (except mealtimes, when Listrani’s and the other restaurants can sometimes be busy enough that you have to look around for a few minutes).

This review is for Blaine and Joel’s new salon on Macarthur Boulevard, just across the street from their old place.
They have now been cutting my hair for about 6 months, and their original instructions from the honey were «Make him look younger, thinner and with more hair.»
I guess the best testament to their skills came from my sister-​in-​law, who I only see about once or twice a year. She doesn’t drink much, so when she had a glass of wine she asked me:
” Come on, admit it, you’ve had hair plugs haven’t you?“
I kid you not.
They have clients who have been seeing them for almost 20 years now, they have a beauty salon and skin care place on the premises and they are great fun. If you are shopping around for a stylist I would totally recommend them.
