I never leave this awful of a review but this is really warranted. My delivery took an hour and a half on a Monday evening, and I’m located less than two miles from the restaurant. I finally got the food and was STARVING, but unfortunately it was disgusting. I got the grilled salmon salad and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries tasted like they just threw some sliced sweet potatoes on a baking sheet and threw it in the oven. Not like fries at all. The salmon was dry and tasteless. Looked and tasted like it was removed from the freezer and put right in the toaster oven. Awful. Not worth your money!

I got the Texas salad for lunch. The chicken was okay. The salad was not great. I added avocado to my order because why not and the pieces of avocado I got were disgusting – black dots all over them. If you are going to be the avocado café you should at least try to provide fresh avocados. Also– get some sort of stickers for your delivery drivers’ cars.

Got the smoked salmon wrap with sweet potato fries. Let me start with the sweet potato fries– they had the consistency of a wet noodle. I’m not sure how they could be classified as fries if they were never fries but whatever. The smoked salmon wrap was awful. The salmon was warm and soggy, even my dog wouldn’t eat it. There was no cream cheese, like the description said. The cucumbers were soggy and there was only 1 tiny chunk of avocado. Actually I’m not positive why I gave them 2 stars considering literally no part of it was good, but I’m too lazy to go back and change it to 1 star.

NOOOOOOOOO! Ordered via GrubHub. Said it would take 45 minutes. Called at 55 minutes, and the lady said she would call the driver to see where he’s at. I live a mile and a half away. She said he left a while ago. When I told her that it should take him no longer than five minutes, she said she would call me back which she never did. I called back 10 minutes later again and she said that it would be another 25 minutes. I’m sorry… an hour and a half for a falafel sandwich? I don’t think so. I told her I wanted a refund, she told me the company will still charge a fee. I told her I expect a full refund it was supposed to be here 30 minutes ago and this is unacceptable. She hung up on me. I’ve no idea if I’m getting my refund.

Never ordering from here again. I was searching through GrubHub for a healthier option, and went for the turkey avocado club and the eggplant dip. The turkey was slimy, there were only 2 pieces of(burnt) bacon, and the bread was CAKED with mayo. This made the sandwich pretty inedible since it was so slippery/soggy. Attached is a pic of the eggplant dip, which seemed to be some sort of mixture of bread, miscellaneous vegetables(I hope), and long strips of limp, chewy eggplant. There was absolutely no flavor or any attributes that resemble a «dip.»

Ordered from Grub Hub… Which I must stop doing. $ 8.99 for stale chips and a hand full of «Guac“more like an avocado purée that was definetly processed in a blender, is way overpriced… I Love avocado and this is a great concept, but please provide better quality… The avocado smoothie was more acceptable, but not great… Tasted watered and it would be nice if you can list the fruits in the ingredients to make the smoothie.

This place is not good a all. I had a spinach wrap. The spinach was soggy, and the wrap itself was not tasty.

I was really excited to order from here hoping to find a new healthy go to spot. Boy was I wrong. Aside from the sweet potato fries(which weren’t actually fries but still delicious), I could not have been more disappointed. I never write reviews but felt this time it was necessary. I ordered a Tuna sandwich and it came dripping in mayo — they must have used an entire jar to make this sandwich. I actually got sick after forcing myself to just eat half of it(I was STARVING) because of the mayo, even after wiping the huge globs of it off. One of the main reasons I ordered the sandwich was because of the avocado and it was pretty much non existent. I also got a smoothie because they said it was made with real fruit and it tasted like it came from a box loaded with sugar. All in all, I highly doubt I will be trying this place again. I only gave it two stars because of the sweet potato«fries» I got with my sandwich. For their own benefit, they should invest in stock for mayo.

I’m 8 min away 1.7 miles and it was ordered at 11:25pm there’s no rush hour no issues I’m down the fucking street bro Never ordering again not even bothering to come inside

Horrid. I order from this place regularly when I’m in DC for work because I work long hours and I often want to eat late at night. They’re the only place open. Generally, their food is passable. Their only virtue: Long hours of operation. This week alone, I have ordered 3 nights. Last night, they delivered in 45 minutes(which is not great, but acceptable). Tonight, it took them 1.5 hours to deliver. I called once at 45 minutes, asking status. I called again at 1.25 hour mark, to ask for an update. Both times I was very nice. The second time, the dude acted very put out in his strange tone and accent, lying as he had before saying the driver was in my building. I hung up knowing I had no recourse at this point as they were the only place delivering and I had already been charged. So, 15 minutes later, the dude shows. I get up to my room, my salad is almost hot. My pizza is almost cold. To top things off, my pizza had a bite out of it. Not only did they transfer my food in the heat retention bag — cold and hot together, but someone took a bite of my pizza. They lied about the driver’s ETA. I don’t have a problem with many things when it comes to food. I have a huge problem with liars. Manage my expectations. That’s all I ask. If he’s behind, tell me the fuckin truth about it. The whole thing is deplorable. I called them immediately. He cussed at me and said to stop calling them. Needless to say, I’m going to bed starved. Not touching a pizza that has a bite taken out. Bottom line: If you don’t mind dealing with gross and what can only imaginably be filthy, creepy crooks(I mean cooks) and deliverymen, order here. If you don’t mind eating left overs of the chef and bus boys, eat here. If you don’t mind having to hassle with your CC company to get a stop payment, eat here. I guarantee that if you eat here enough, you’ll eventually be sorry and exasperated. If you want good food in DC, bring your own or find a room with a kitchen. If you want good food late at night, order early from somewhere besides Avocado Café and keep it warm for later.

1 star for the chips that came with the guacamole. To be clear the chips were in fact store bought Tostitos which were delicious, the other 3 items were inedible as was the guacamole itself.

I ordered a TX Salad last night for delivery. It’s described as «Romaine, black beans, corn, crunchy tortilla strips, BBQ chicken, and oil and vinegar dressing.» I received a regular house salad, with Romaine, a sprinkling of black beans, shredded carrots, a few slices of red onions and green peppers. Also two slices of avocado were gingerly tucked under the tons of of lettuce. There were slices of plain chicken(no BBQ in sight), no tortilla strips or corn. It was late and I was very hungry, so I wasn’t going to call and demand another salad, but the salad described isn’t what I received. I won’t be ordering from Avocado Café anymore.

I’m not a picky person at all, but the chicken in the southwest chicken sandwich was extremely rubbery. Almost seemed fake. Also, the sweet potato fries that came with the sandwich were covered in grease and there were only 8 of them. What kind of side is that?

The hours for this café are impressive, but, I am sad to report that the hours are the most impressive aspect. The proprietor is very friendly and patient, as well as accommodating. However, the décor and ambiance leave one feeling as though the place is either newly opened and about to be remodeled or just tired and worn and in need of remodeling. The food was fresh for a salad with falafel, as fresh as I could expect from a small café front like Avocado Café. Nice large hearty veggie pieces like, wait for it– yes, avocado. But… also tomatoes, bell peppers, sundried tomatoes and cucumbers– even an artichoke heart– graced the crunchy salad with vinaigrette and tahini sauce. If late night hunger leads me to this location, I would be satisfied, but otherwise, I feel as though there are many other eateries with more variety and better ambiance. It’s more like 2.5 stars, but I just feel the food and ambiance are limited. So I went with 2 stars.

I have ordered delivery from here four times. Everything varies. I order because when a friend and I first tried it she was thrilled, so when she comes over, we order. Three times I received my order correctly, wrong once. Three times I’ve received my food in 1 – 2 hours, once in 30 minutes. Twice my food arrived cold, once room temperature, once appropriately hot. Three times the delivery instructions were not followed, once they were. My most recent experience was drastically better overall. . Six months ago my delivery was left on the front porch of the house I live in the basement of, in the snow, with the food spilled all over the bag. Earlier this week I received an explanation and apology for it from the delivery driver which made me very happy. However, this delivery contained several items, one of which had smelly, slimy, discoloured meat in it. Everything else tasted fresh, hot and delicious. If you’re patient then order delivery otherwise just go in person.

3.5 stars. I’ve only gotten orders delivered from here… and they’ve usually always been on time. My favorite items are the Kara Avocado wrap and the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The sandwiches are triple decked so it’s a lot of food! Great if you have a large stomach and if not, great to split into two meals :) The only thing was that there was not enough of the buffalo sauce and so I couldn’t quite taste the«spiciness». On the other hand, the kara avocado wrap is full of deliciousness from the chicken to the avocado to the beans to the feta to the mustard sauce they use. In addition, the strawberry mango smoothie and the strawberry banana smoothies are GREAT and do just fine in the delivery process(doesn’t get too liquidy or anything of that nature). A pretty cheap and tasty option for lunch!

I guess it’s used to be called ‘cappuccino pizza’. I only tried french fries and cheese calzone. I really liked cheese calzone which filled up with lots of cheese and soft crust. I’m not sure if it has any ricotta cheese as described in the menu but it was tasty. Definitely come back for more calzone. PS: For french fries, I think Five guys still gets my vote over any place in this neighborhood.
