Last night they brought in more help and wow what time we had. Good time by all. It’s clean and they were fast with the drinks. Good people

This is the bar/lounge inside of the Hyatt on Capitol Hill. It was a nice enough place to meet a friend(who was staying at the hotel) for drinks and snacks. The ambiance is basically«nice hotel bar». The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were pretty strong, which is nice since they all cost $ 12 or more. I had some frou-frou drink with strawberries and cucumbers and gin, which was pretty good except for mashed bits of strawberry getting stuck in my teeth(TMI?). I switched over to the rum punch for the next round and the rum punch was absolutely outstanding. Very flavorful, nicely blended, and it packed quite a kick. I shouldn’t have but I had a second one. We finished with some shots of some really nice rye, but I don’t recall the brand. The food unfortunately wasn’t up to the bar’s high standard. Offerings are limited to «bar food»: wings, sliders, loaded potato skins, calamari, etc. There might have been a salad for people uninterested in meat. I got the calamari, which comes with some rock shrimp and a spicy«remoulade» sauce. It was quite possibly the worst calamari I have ever had. My friend had the sliders and she said they were pretty good. I’m not sure this is the sort of place you’d go out of your way to go to, but if you are in the neighborhood or at the hotel for some reason, you should probably stop in for a rum punch. Or three.

Food is excellent. Service at the bar is slow even when they’re not busy. Morning crew is good though, always on top of the coffee and OJ.

Ahhhh, Article One. Many a night spent at the bar during my stay at the Hyatt Regency. Bartenders were friendly, albeit quite slow even when we were the only people at the bar. Somehow, they kept disappearing… Anyway, we were low on time one day and grabbed lunch at the bar rather than in the full restaurant. The chicken tortilla soup = AMAZING. Their prices really weren’t that bad, especially for DC and a hotel where they’re always willing to charge a little extra. The lounge area was quite comfortable, although there was no way we could comfortably accommodate a group of about eight people without seriously rearranging the furniture. All in all, a decent option, especially if you’re stuck at the hotel.

I’m at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill and after schnoozing in my room too long… Its 1030pm and I’m hungry. I search here for awesome places nearby, but everything stops serving at 11pm Grrrrrrrrrrr. SO, okay hotel restaurant I go, ahhhh they stop at 11pm too, but hey the bar serves alot of the same stuff till 12am, AWESOME! I got the chicken tortilla soup, it’s good! spicy, hot and plenty of it! Comes with a couple little pieces of bread and butter, its good. The people around me seem nice and very diverse ethnicities. I did wait awhile for some help, but I’m alone and I think they just missed me. I got a nice BIG glass of the lager, and every one is bubbling with talk around me so the drinks must be ok. I decide, yeah Its my last night in DC I’m getting dessert. Fig Crème brûlée… its cold but good. So total damage $ 30.00(includes tip & tax) thats a big beer, big soup, and an a-ok brulee. Good in a pinch.
