Great arancini balls and margarita pizza! Great place for kids early in Saturday morning!

I’m never that impressed. I gave this place a few shots. The place is so loud, the waiting time is always long, and the quality of the pizza is not that great honestly. The pizza crust is often doughy; and the toppings are just thrown on top. I wouldn’t go there for a nice dinner or a date. You can find better pizza in town easily.

Honestly it was whatever, the fact that I took it to go and ended up eating it cold didn’t help I’m sure which is why I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and adding an extra star. I’m also aware that brick oven pizzas have a more«rustic» flavor but a lot of the bottom side of the pizza tasted like pure burnt edges. Wasn’t impressed, sorry!

I seriously cannot get over this meal, which was one of my favorites in recent memory. My boyfriend and I came to 2Amy’s when I was in DC for a conference. We came across the restaurant on the Unilocal app when we were looking for places to eat dinner nearby, and boy am I glad we stumbled upon it. I would return in a heartbeat. We tried the polpettine(little meatballs) and a slice of the pasta frittata to start. Both dishes had such deliciously rustic flavor. You could really tell they used good olive oil to drizzle over the frittata, and the greens in it(I think broccolini) were so fresh and tasty juxtaposed with the anchovy dispersed throughout. The chewy bread served with the meatballs was perfect for soaking up the rich and spicy tomato sauce. Then for our main course, each of us had a pizza. I chose the«Etna,» which featured eggplant confit. It was delicious, but I couldn’t really taste the eggplant a ton because it was overwhelmed by the taste of the olives on top. So that’s my one little criticism of that pizza — too many olives, which I usually love but were a tad too overpowering and salty here. However, it was still a wonderful pizza, especially with the chewy thin crust. I really did enjoy it. Dessert was lovely. We had the marsala custard and the house-made cannoli, which were the best I’ve ever had. The custard was so velvety smooth in texture, and the orange liqueur-flavored cream in the cannoli was so delicate, pairing nicely with the clearly homemade pastry crust. Next time we’re back in DC, this will be one of the first stops we make. We loved the tapas-style ordering and can’t wait to try things we didn’t have room for on this first visit, like the salt cod croquettes and bruschetta. Passionate service, great lively atmosphere, and seriously delicious food clearly made with only the freshest ingredients. Do yourself a favor and enjoy everything with a nice Aperol spritz!

2 Amys has the best pizza in DC. Fresh, wood oven cooked, and flavorful pizza with fluffy crust, what more could you ask for. My favorite is the Norcia pizza with salami and spicy peppers, they also have great daily specials to look for. Today I had the daily special with sausage, egg, fontina and parsley, it was delicious! The staff is friendly and accommodating and very helpful should you need help picking a pizza or a glass of wine. I highly recommend 2 amys, and be sure to look out for their«little things» menu, it’s always changing and includes great sides that pair well with a pie or you can get a few of them and make a meal out of that.

The margherita pizza had little to no cheese and sauce. Maybe I just had a bad one. The small plate dishes were great though including the polenta and quiche. But unfortunately I can’t appreciate the bread to sauce/cheese ratio on their pizza here.

Best pizza I’ve had in DC and it’s beats Chicago style pies(note that’s coming from a lifelong Illinoisan!). I started with the salt cod croquettes which were good. Nice sharing size for two people but for three or more I’d suggest two orders or an additional appetizer. The pizzas were outstanding! The Two Amys was very good but I fell in love Etna! Their crust is perfect, nicely cooked, slightly chewy, and the center is not mushy like most of the other Neapolitan style pizzas I’ve eaten. The toppings are generous but not overdone, providing a good balance between crust and toppings. I’d suggest one pizza per person if you don’t get an appetizer. Staff was nice and refilled drinks quickly. I also liked the interior of the restaurant; love the exposed kitchen and the building had a great old charm feel. I will definitely be coming back here next time I’m in DC. The location is a bit out of the way for tourists but well worth the trip, especially if you’re visiting the National Cathedral.

My husband I traveled Italy for 6 weeks and ate pizza non stop… this place is as close as you can get for authentic pizza in the district. We can’t get enough of 2 Amy’s!

2 Amys makes the best Neapolitan pizza in DC. There are a few competitors, and your preference for the base pizza dough may differ. However, 2 Amys uses the best ingredients for toppings, and has the best pizza selections. You should really eat the pizza! I say ‘eat the pizza’ rather than ‘go to 2 Amys’ because the restaurant is not a very welcoming place during most dinner hours. The main room is brightly lit and covered in tile. In other circumstances this would be a refreshingly clean look. Here the din of children screaming, bouncing off the tile, building to a crescendo really destroys your desire to eat. The back room suffers from spillover from the main room while upstairs is fine. Overall, most of the seating is poor. You’re better off calling ahead to order a pizza, though they rarely pick up the phone when it’s busy. Maybe you’re better off ordering the pizza in person? Though it’s so busy the line to order in person, also the line to pick up pizza, can take longer to get through than a pizza takes to cook. The food is excellent. The restaurant is cursed by its own popularity.

Pizzas were ok, every one of them were undercooked. I made the mistake of ordering a stuffed pizze = weak soggy calzone. My wifey’s was ok and my son’s margherita slightly better. Service was efficient(read here: pushy). We were a table of 13 with 5 toddlers, did the idiot server think we were going to camp out? Three year olds have a shelf life of 25 mins. before they become unglued. If you are in the neighborhood, Vace Deli in Cleveland Park has better Pizza, except the only do takeout BUT call before 7pm and 4pm on Sundays to get your order in or else you’ll feel like you were kicked in the gut by the Pizza Nazi’s.

–Lots of volume in the restaurant. –Clean sitting. –Lights were a bit hostile. –Waiter was unheard over the crowd in the joint. –Pizza was uncut when brought to the table. *never had that happen to me before coming here* –I ordered the Margherita Pizza and it was pale in presentation, it quickly fell apart after the first bite I took. –Dough was like chewing gum. *There should be either a bottle of Olive Oil at every table or a bring a side of your Marinara sauce on the side with that disaster piece of a pizza dough please. #2 stars for the beer and for the conversation I had with my friend here about this subpar pizza joint. Good luck Amy.

I went to 2 Amys with a few friends, and I have to say that this place serves amazing Neapolitan pizza! Early in the day, they are more of a family-style restaurant, but once 7PM rolls around, they cater to the adult and after hours crowd. The place is not super huge, but there is a bar in the rear and a small outdoor seating area. They have a menu of selections to choose from or you can create your own. I created my own pizza and I had fresh garlic shaved onto my pizza along with mozzarella and pepperoni. The garlic was a great addition! My pepperoni was crisp and I had to stop myself from eating it off of the pizza! Their pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning oven and it was just the right serving. They don’t slice it for you, so you have to cut it yourself. Your entire party has to be there or they won’t seat you because it can get pretty crowded in there. The waitresses are OK and there’s a lot of hustle and bustle going on. I felt like they quickly cleared off our table every time we were done with a plate or glass cause they were trying to get more people in and get us out of our table. Nevertheless, you will definitely enjoy your food. Parking on the street is a little tight, but there are a few spots in the parking lot nearby. Of the several pizza places in DC, this is probably tops my list. Enjoy!

My mom and I were excited to try this place after visiting the National Cathedral when we saw how many great reviews it has. Unfortunately, we were not too impressed with this pizza. I ordered the Etna, which was good but nothing to write home about. My mom ordered the Puttanesca which we were both very disappointed with. It was soggy which caused the toppings to keep slipping off, there wasn’t enough cheese, and it was nothing special. We’ve had better pizza in our lives, but the one thing we did really like was the crust; it was very thick and chewy which was great.

Really great Italian pizzas — very authentic. I’d definitely recommend this place to others. The crust on pizzas are excellent. Ask for olive oil on the side so you can dip extra crust in it.

Good lord this place gets loud. It’s so, so, so busy. We don’t live far, and have mistakenly(multiple times now) thought that«It’s Monday night… it can’t be *THAT* busy… right?» Wrong. (Good luck having a conversation with anyone who has difficulty with ambient noise when it’s crowded. There’s an interior designer out there chomping at the bit to provide some noise dampening solutions. 2 Amys should hire them.) The other issue is that when it is THAT busy, the kitchen gets a little sloppy – meaning crust might not be completely cooked, or the toppings a little too sparse/uneven. The onus is on YOU to order correctly so that you maximize your chances of getting an excellent meal. We are learning. But the bottom line is that when the stars align-and you time it just right-this is a better than average spot to stuff your face with the goodness that only pizza will provide.

Yes, it is as good as they say. Good mixed drinks and wine, and great service, apps, and pizza. The potato-prosciutto croquettes(five in an order) are tasty, and the texture is tip-top. The roasted peppers with anchovies was typical, which means that anyone who doesn’t hate anchovies should love it. The margherita pizza was as good as a regular, New York/Italian style«plain» pizza gets, but the Vongole(clame) with garlic, capers, parsley, hot pepper, cockles, and grana(hard grating cheese) was an absolute knockout. We’ll be back!

I had meant to try this place for the past few years. For some reason, despite my proximity to the location when I am in DC, it just never came together. Then, today, I decided to order and came away pretty underwhelmed. To be fair, I ordered from Door Dash, this was a take-out order. The order was delivered within 35 minutes, which is an impressive feat. I ordered the rabe salad and the puttanesca pizza. The rabe salad was unremarkable and the pizza was just not that good. I was prepared for the salt given my selection of the puttanesca, but the salt was overwhelming. Additionally, the crust lacked that sort of ideal crispiness on the exterior and moist interior. It had the chewiness down, but I think I was spoiled by far better Neopolitan fare at Mangiancora in Amsterdam back in September. Oh, and the meal came to around $ 30. But thats DC for you!

a moment of silence for this delicious ass pizza. i came here late september to treat my mom to good pizza — she’s from new york and has lived in chicago — and let’s say she walked out very happy! after a 45 minute wait(hey, they told us more than an hour, so props!), we sat down and got three amazing pizzas: the margherita(tomato, mozzarella di bufala, basil), the etna(eggplant confit, olives, capers, oregano, grana) and the 2amys(tomato, fresh mozzarella). my mouth is watering as i write this. everything is flavorful, and made with passion and love — you can tell. service was great and friendly, as was the bustling ambience. definitely come early because there will be a wait. and screw counting calories, every bite is worth it.

I FINALLYCAMEHERE!!! After bookmarking this place three years ago. I finally came and sadly this place fell short. I wanted to love this place since pizza is my favorite food. We got the basic buffalo mozzarella basil pizza and one sausage pie. The pizza looked water-y. And the crust was not soft snd chewy, it just tasted like bread… The cheese was also not super cheesy and it tasted quite greasy. I was really disappointed because I wanted to love this place. The service was okay and it wasn’t as packed and I thought it would be. I’m sorry but pupatella Is still the best.

By far my favorite restaurant in DC for neapolitan pizza. A cute and casual atmosphere with great and simple décor. Service here is also amazing! Everyone is attentive and helpful. It’s usually about a 25 minute wait around dinner time, but totally worth every minute of waiting. I will say, if you’re a lover of deep dish/American-styled pizza(heavy on cheese, sauce, and thicker crust), you many not enjoy 2Amy’s, but nonetheless, you can taste how fresh and authentic the ingredients are. All the appetizers I’ve tried here have all been delicious. Cheese, octopus, etc. My favorite thing to order is the Margherita Extra with the added topping of prosciutto. I love that you can really taste the high quality that they use for the prosciutto. Pairing your meal with the chilled red wine(I can’t remember the name) is a must! It’s the perfect amount of fizziness. Eating here really makes me feel like I’m back living in Italy! :)

Located across the National Cathedral and plenty of street parking nearby. Really friendly service, our server was great at making recommendations on wine, pizza and etc. I had the norcia(peppers, cheese and salami) — best pizza I’ve ever had! The pizza slices were perfectly thin and the crust was nicely toasted(ask for olive oil so you can dip the crust in it). I paired this pizza with the Neapolitan chilled red wine, nice and bubbly! For dessert, I got the señor frog– espresso shot(illy coffee) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream(tastes homemade)…yum! Definitely going back!

I was pleasantly surprised that 2 Amys Pizza lived up to the hype. I had heard about it through a national pizza ranking and decided to give it a shot. I had the Norcia pizza, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also had the cauliflower little plate which was also very good. The rest of my party seemed to enjoy their meals as much as I did as well(one got a stuffed pizza and the other a pizza with caper and olives on it. I liked the Norcia the best. I will say, however, that they were very busy and wait was an hour so the service was a bit lacking. First, the bartender was very friendly but swamped. I couldn’t believe they only had one bartender working on a Friday night considering the size of the restaurant and that there were no seats left at the bar. It was almost shoulder to shoulder standing and drinking. Apparently, there’s an upstairs, though, that we didn’t see so maybe there was another one upstairs. I will say the bartender was definitely holding her own, all things considered. Our server may have been the worst part. I understand if food is a bit slow because of volume but he seemed impatient. He wasn’t as much rude. but he felt pushy trying to get our orders in. When he asked us if we were ready, we barely had time to answer before he said he’d come back. Same with the desserts and the check. So while the food arrived promptly from a food runner, I felt like we were being pushed out the door. Sure enough, we probably sat down and finished eating in less than an hour because of this which is tough to do with four people. Great if you’re waiting. Not as great when you’re actually eating. Still. Awesome food, overall pleasant experience. The server was a very minor part. Like I said, not rude, just a bit rushed. rudeness would have made it a completely different experience.

Two stars for unimpressive pizza and over-hyped environment. DC suffers from people thinking money means quality and this is particularly true in 2 Amys neighborhood. Now, that’s not Amy’s fault. However, the several times I went there left me wishing I went elsewhere. Their pizza is well-prepared and certainly not lacking good ingredients. The problem is the end product: no real or unique flavor, not interesting or that tasty. Other reviewers commented on the weight. I don’t get it but think it’s just people thinking that waiting equals quality. Yes, this review goes against the grain for this restaurant but don’t fall for the hype. Sure, try it but them get out of the neighborhood and try others! Thanks.

This Cleveland Park establishment is all about the DOC! For those of you that don’t know, DOC stands for«Denominazione di Origine Controllata,» which to many means the most authentic pizza on earth! DOC is also a standard that’s used to assure a certain level of wine. According to their website: in order for a Margherita to meet the D.O.C. standard«only soft-grain flour, fresh yeast, water, and sea salt may be used for the dough, and only Italian plum tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, extra-virgin olive oil and fresh basil… may be used for the toppings.» Last, but not least, «[It] must be cooked in a wood-burning oven.» These are pretty high standards, but you can taste them in every bite. 2 Amys is always featured in DC’s top restaurant lists/guides. And if you’ve ever had the pleasure, then you know exactly why. I think out of all my visits, there was only one time that I didn’t have to wait for a table. They’re pretty much always packed, so expect to see people waiting inside/outside. Pretty soon you’ll be one of them! There’s seating on the main floor, as well as on the second floor. There’s also a small patio, as well as a bar, out back. I prefer to sit in the back section of the main floor, as it’s a little quieter there. It’s also closer to the bathroom. As far as ordering goes, you can’t really go wrong with anything on their menu. A good place to start would be the Margherita. I’ve tried a bunch of others(2amys, norcia, calabrese, etc.), but I always go back to the Margherita. I would come here more often but parking could be somewhat tough at times, and there’s always that wait…

Exceptional pizza, I tried the margherita and was pleased. James has the pesto and like it as well. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the early June mild temps. We had great service and I enjoyed the experience over all. My only disappoint is that I could not get a pint of Weihenstephan Hefeweizen. Your options are 6.75 or 24 oz glasses… even though they have 16 oz options in other beers.

Best pizza in DC. The margherita is my go-to standard here. It’s certified by the Neopolitan folks in Italy(DOC), and is everything you want in individual wood-fire pizzas. They have a nice bar in the back and a great patio. Main dining room is usually crowded in loud, so go for the back if you can. No reservations, but worth the wait. Tried the orange salad too, was pretty impressed for something so simple. Great flavors. Started to rain when we were outside and staff was super attentive making sure everyone had space under umbrellas or was moved inside. Nice Touch. Coup-de-grace. Smoked mozz eggplant pizza with pignoli. Mind blowing. Like stop what you’re doing and let your mind be blown. Seriously, if you haven’t been to 2 Amy’s yet, go. And go to the original joint in Cleveland Park. Parking can be a little tricky, but the Giant has a lot and there is two-hour zone neighborhood parking in the area. Also good for takeout.
