Horrid. Nime Chow: rancid, warm shrimp, ‘pissy’ yellow sprouts, dipping sauce onlt tasted of salt. Wrappers torn. Lemongrass Veggie Thai Style: crudely cut veggies in tasteless yellow glop; no curry flavor, zero heat. Not a hint of lemongrass. I asked for hot sauce to try to salvage things– no Sriracha, no pepper oil, I think what I got was Texas Pete’s junk. It’s as if they were trying to make Vietnamese and Thai food look bad.

Best beef teriyaki I’ve ever had! Big fan of the fried rice and general tsos. Never had a bad meal there!

I feel totally embarrassed that I gave one star I wish there was an option for nose Stars the food was overcooked you took a bite into the egg roll and it tasted like Jean Nate it was disgusting the food was double cook because I had to keep it warm because its been cooked all day there was nothing of value $ 40 worth of food and all you can stomach was the rice and it look like cat instead of beef in there I told him we’ll never eat there again they don’t even take pride in their name and their ownership I told her that they should be embarrassed you must not have repeat customers

Surprised to see some negative reviews — this place is pretty good! I was a bit worried with the large variety on the menu but everything was fantastic, especially the lemongrass Thai style vegetables! The inside is a bit dated but service was good, prices were great and overall it was a very good experience. I would definitely grab takeout but maybe I’ll stop in for a cocktail soon as well.

Absolutely awful awful awful customer service. Got food from them, got home and food was wrong. Not only wrong but GROSS! Lady made me go back and forth to show her food was wrong in order to get my money back…

Eastern Star is a big dive of a Chinese restaurant in Warwick. It looks like the 70s inside; nothing has been updated in the least bit. I would never dine in here unless my car died at the light and it was New Years Day, or some similar scenario. The staff are pretty eccentric. Take out is A-OK, though. Park on the street in front of the door, and you’re in and out. I like the General Tso’s Chicken here because the breading is crispy and glazed with brown sticky sauce. Most cheap Chinese takeout joints I’ve encountered serve up the red-orange variety, which I don’t like. The fried rice is good too. It’s not that yellow stuff, it’s real fried rice from scratch with a decent amount of pork. The combos with egg roll come with a ramican of house made duck sauce and hot mustard. Nothing out of a packet. So it’s a solid take out spot. Not a great place to get scorpion bowls, I guess!

I’ve walked out of here twice now. Shame on me for doing it the second time, but it is close to home… So I walk in this time and am met with blank stares from the waitress and owner. I say hi. Blank stare… I say can I eat here — pointing to the bar. I am then met with an incredulous, «you want to eat here»? Lol whatever. I sit down. I ask for a large scorpion bowl and a combination plate. The owner /manager(?) states that the large is only for two. I say that’s fine. Then he repeats it’s only for two. I said that’s fine I’ll pay whatever more I need to make up the difference of two singles. Then he tells me it’s for two. I’m confused. He won’t explain. He won’t accommodate. He offers no alternative. I’m frustrated. I say ok, I’ll just go. He says ok see ya. The food has always been something I resort to because of convenience. I see why they have previously received bad reviews. See ya? Probably not again.

I moved into the area and Eastern Star is only a quick walk from my house, so I was hoping this could be my «go to» local Chinese-American restaurant. The first takeout was disappointing — food did not taste fresh, sauces had an aftertaste, etc. Tried again a few weeks later, and the food was worse in every way! I threw out the take out menu — Eastern Star is off my list, even in a pinch.

Ive eaten here a few times through ordering at work and I live near it too, so me and a friend got some take out. Previous times I’ve gotten food from here it was alright but this time was different. The general tsao chicken was not really good, the chicken fingers were over cooked, they forgot the side of rice with the main course after I asked on the phone to be sure it came with one. The boneless spare ribs were fatty and gristley. If you can I would try a different place for Chinese.

Nothing about it was what I’ve come to expect from good chinese food. Everything we ordered was below par. I’m not even sure the lo mien was lo mien. Chicken fingers were rubbery. The spare ribs were fatty and tough to chew. The Dumplings were good but nothing to brag about. My friend had the General’s chicken and wasn’t happy with that either. And to top everything off, they forgot our rice. Eastern Star is a skip.

I guess we got lucky here… my Cashew Shrimp was delicious and my GF’s combo was good. They did forget my white rice though, and the pork also was a bit fatty, but overall a pleasant dining experience.

NEVERAGAINWILL I DINEONTHETAKEOUTFROMEASTERNSTAR. Two words… food poisoning. My husband ate a bad batch of chicken lo mein that led to severe food poisoning. It literally took 48 hours for him to get over it. As convenient and well rounded as their take out menu has been for us, we are not willing to experience that again. Seeking new favorite chinese takeout spot in warwick.

This place is dingy, dirty and run down. The help is on another planet and one where smiles are outlawed. But the food is pretty good. I only take out and only when in neighborhood. I would never make a special trip. But as far as takeout goes I rate it second to Lemongrass on Post Road by Elmwood Ave.

I live nearby and this is usually my pick for quick Chinese. I’ve never dined inside, so I can’t comment about that. No bad experiences for me.

Live close by so my girlfriend and I thought we would try it, what a mistake! Service was nothing short of awful, and food was even worse. We only had a few bites of our entrees. On the bright side the bar menu was extensive(but with eastern star you will need a few to be able to stomach the food).
