This is now COASTLINEDINER but still the same old Athens. It’s the typical diner décor you would expect for a place that sees high volume. But all their love and attention goes to service and great food at an amazing value. A trip to RI always finds us here on Sunday morning for a late breakfast.

Awesome classic diner. Reminds me of New York. Ate here every day while staying at Residence Inn nearby. Called Coast Line Diner.

Great service. Great Food. Great Prices. If busy, will most likely wait an extra ten minutes for your meal. But price per portions are worth the wait. Homefries and hash are all homemade. Coffee was very good to. Would recommended going if you are a breakfast type of person.

The sign says Coast Line Diner. We came on a Sunday, and they had 3 large parties, so the slow food delivery was understandable. The waitress kept up with the coffee refills. The Buffalo chicken omelete was good, but skimpy on the cheese.

Just left Athens diner, had breakfast, pancakes with two eggs over easy, food was terrible. The pancakes were def an out of the box mix, eggs were under cooked, coffee was very bitter. My wife had an omelette that was also terrible. Def not the place to go

What’s not to love? Friendly, reasonable, delicious. Everything is fresh and tastes that way. Great service! Just sent a Facebook post about this to all my crew coworkers. I’ll be back!

Great diner! The food to value ratio is great! It was our first time there; we will certainly be back. The sign and menu read ‘Coastal Diner’ for this location while the place mats, Unilocal and internet read ‘Athens Diner’. I believe ‘Coastal Diner’ is the new name.

I have eaten here five times Pros: Cheap Good waitresses Cons: Not very clean(I don’t think there is a matching table in the place) Food average Changes names often I think it’s coastline Diner now. Just go down the street to Jefferson Dinner for better food probably a little more money.

A solid“does-the-job” diner. Good people. Completely friendly and prompt on the service. Good coffee. Good basics. Interesting menu with lots of daily specials. Large servings. Good prices. In the East, places like this are a dime a dozen — but you eat there are and you are happy. this type of restaurant is very rare in texas. never mind whether texas is deprived of liberals or texas is deprived of people who listen to non-country music. it is actually deprived of none of the above. what it does lack is good salt of the earth diners like this one — and especially salt of the earth diners like this on every corner. good diners need to be as widely distributed and easy to get to as a mailbox.

I know it’s Valentine’s Day, so it’s pretty crowded, but we’ve been waiting for over ½ hour for our food. Our waitress hasn’t even been by to check on us! I’m hungry! We have a lil kid with us… he only got cereal. They could have offered to bring that out before our food if they knew the kitchen would be this slow… I’ll update with a review of the food after I eat.(If it ever comes out!) Okay…after about an hour and 15 minutes the waitress comes and says, «umm we don’t have corn flakes is this ok?»(And shows us us Cinnamon Toast Crunch). Yea fine! Our food is served… it was okay, nothing great. We ate everything(but maybe that was just because we waited so long for it)!

I truly, truly wish that the service I received were at par with the quality of the food. It would’ve made me a fan. Sucks. What they got right. Food taste. The touted homemade hash is one of the better ones I’ve had in diners by far. The side dish of beans were all right. They accommodated my request for buttered toasts done on the grill. There were a lot of people the day I went. It was the day after Thanksgiving. While I got seated quickly(by my lonesome at the corner of the covered outside patio), the food took all of 35 minutes to arrive. My coffee refills were slow. I asked diners at the next table about speed of service. They seemed like regulars judging from the chit-chats they enjoyed with the server. Mine was supposedly an anomaly on a hugely busy day(Did I say I arrived at 11:45AM?). Fine. I should’ve sat at the counter and perhaps(speculating) I could’ve gotten much better service. Not just speed but attentiveness. The server spent very obviously more time chatting with her friends from the next table; forgetting to give me creamer, extra napkin and the catsup and hot sauce I asked for. I ended up snatching creamer from an empty table, borrowing catsup, asking for napkin at the very end of my meal, and not having hot sauce. Terrible. I had one hour in between appointments that day. Impulse eating at this diner was a bad idea. I wolfed down my meal in 12 minutes. Didn’t even bother to complain about the shabby, forgetful service as I had to be in Johnston at 1PM. All told, food quality is all good. Serving portions are just right. If you have great service, this would be an enjoyable place to visit. TIP: Make sure if you are eating at brunch by yourself, that you sit at the counter or inside and not in the outside, covered patio to not risk snatching and borrowing condiments, creamer, and the like, here and there.

We love to go for the gyros and the gyro platter is a great deal. I love their frittata at breakfast and the corned beef hash is homemade — albeit a bit buttery and greasy — but flavorful and delicious. We’ve always had very good service when we’ve gone — although I can see if you go at the height of the breakfast rush on Sunday morning it can be a bit slower — but that’s because every seat in the place is filled. And we always take that as a sign of good food!

Going to have to go down a star. Food is still ok, and good prices, but there always seems to be a problem. Curdled creamers, paper stuck to bottom of utensils, under cooked/raw chicken. I understand things happen, but every time my wife and I go there is an issue. Im not sure if its a lack of attention to detail or organization or what… what I am sure of is we go much less frequently. 2 ½ stars.

There are always lines of cars here! I thought breakfast would be spectacular! Everything was okay but I wouldn’t say amazing. Service is good and quick! The place is certainly bigger than it looks. I heard the corn beef hash is amazing but unfortunately did not try it. The omelet my boyfriend got was not very flavorful and super large. The prices are very cheap so you do get a lot for your money. I Think I got eggs and toast which is hard to mess up. I won’t be on a rush to get here anytime soon. But if you’re coming from the airport it’s across the street and you can grab some breakfast here opposed to ihop!

Reasonable prices and huge portions along with good service make this a solid diner stop. Fellow Unilocal fans on here mentioned the homemade hash, but I cannot resist trying eggs benedict when it’s on the menu. Irene, our waitress, asked if I wanted to try swapping out the ham for the hash benedict. Tempting but I was in the mood for the classic. Glad I stuck with my choice. Delightfully soft poached eggs were draped in a blanket of light ‘n lemony hollandaise sauce on a crisp English and slices of country ham. Served up with some crispy, chunked hash browns made for an absolutely filling brunch feast for under eight bucks. Two of the three kids had a gigantic single pancake and the other had a Belgian waffle. Didn’t try bites of any of theirs but there were no complaints as they devoured their meals. Service was good. The interior of the place is lacking atmosphere with the 70’s wood paneling and vinyl seating. It’s not dirty but could use a good scrub down… But this place isn’t about fine dining and appearance as much as it is about inexpensive, yummy diner fare. For that, you can’t go wrong here.

Maybe the best price to breakfast ratio I’ve ever been to. This place is extremely inexpensive, and the breakfast was actually excellent. I ordered a sausage and cheese omelette, and the omelette was light and fluffy, not overcooked like most places. The toast was excellent, and they even have high-quality rye bread available as toast, which not all breakfast places will. The coffee was ample and decent. And the homefries were excellent and looked home-made with a nice amount of pan crust still on them. Each breakfast comes with a free side. Your choices are homefries, baked beans, a baked apple(!), and a few other options. Service was quick and friendly.

I’d say they place is «OK». Ordered a western omelet with home fries and a grilled English muffin. English muffin was best part. Coffee was ok, omelet had no flavor and home fries were far far far to large. I mean no! You can not serve me half a damn potato. Bonus: by rental car return for TF Green so… well try it for breakfast only

wow. I’m really surprised by the bad reviews. We’ve only had breakfast here, but every time it’s been very good. One key item in my book is the hash and here it’s a winner — homemade and served crispy as ordered. All the other items are just fine, maybe not outstanding, but perfectly acceptable. Portions are very generous. For a side with your breakfast — get the fresh fruit(check my pics!). Waitress said it’s cut fresh every morning and it tasted great. Service was spot on and coffee kept coming. This is one of our go-to places for breakfast.
