We missed this place a few weeks ago as they were already closed by the time we got to Warrenton at 3p on a Sunday. Today we were looking forward to trying again and got there by 1:30p… but they were closed. As in closed for good, done, no longer open, ever. Sad we missed our chance — we heard the food was great.

It is a takeout place so I won’t give any points off for the décor. All I know is I had an amazing roast beef sub there the other day. Perfect sub roll with tons of deli cut roast beef, ripe tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. The amount of meat made the 8′ sub a good deal at $ 7. I was way more full eating this sub than a 12′ Subway sub that is cheap with the meat. They didn’t have horseradish which would normally go on my roast beef. Though, after trying this version I wouldn’t change a thing.

The best sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Chicken salad with jalapenos(my addition) is fantastic but the Ruben sandwich is also excellent.

A unique deli… but no Fred. Fred’s got his Deli for sale… this according to Mrs Mother-In-Law who’s been running the place for the past year. I had the Ruben and it was quite good. I added the homemade potato salad which was good too. I think it’s a little overpriced, $ 8 bucks for the sandwich and 3.50 for the small side of tater salad.

Fred’s Deli is a tiny, and I mean tiny little Deli on Main Street in Old Town Warrenton, VA. If you blink, you will miss this place! It’s a very narrow little business space! It’s not much to look at — a veritable hole in the wall! Fred’s serves breakfast sandwiches, Omelets, and breakfast platters every morning from 8:30 am — 10:30 am — and freshly brewed coffee. The rest of the menu consists of Deli lunch items — a wide variety of sandwiches, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Gyro, salads, a few sides and Chili. They also carry Route 11 Brand potato chips — made locally here in Virginia. There is no place to eat in. I got an Italian Sub to go — even though it was not listed on the menu — the lady asked me what I wanted in the sub and she made it! I also picked up to bags of Route 11 chips — the Mama Zuma’s Revenge Habanero Potato Chips — and their Dill Pickle Potato Chips — two of my all-time faves! Pretty tasty and filling sub: Salami, Ham, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Mayo, Banana Peppers, Oil & Vinegar, and a dash of Black Pepper. Hit the spot! They don’t accept credit cards — so cash only. It’s a small«locally-owned» business! Check this place out!

Best chicken salad on th east coast! Will serve on a bed of lettuce w/tomato and oil and vinigar on salad part with a generous serving of chicken salad on top for $ 5 bucks. I just called and they were sold out for the day… makes me sad. I will be sure to get there early tomorrow. Hours are 8 – 4 m-s
