This review is for Happy Hour only – daily, 4−6pm. We LOVE hitting up the HH here because they have super affordable food specials with sizes big enough to share. Most recently, we ordered the clam chowder, Dooger Burger, torpedo prawns, and onion rings, but we’ve tried several items on the HH menu. Solid food, not especially over the top, but good. Usually good service too. The bar is small so it can be a wait for a table, but as long as you get your name on the waiting list before 6pm, they will honor HH prices.

A nice gentleman outside recommended it as we were looking at the menu on the door, so decided to go ahead and try it. It was excellent! The food was very fresh. Not overly breaded on the prawns, very fresh shrimp, and lots of clams in the chowder. I was so involved in the eating that I forgot to take a pic. And the staff were very friendly, solicitous, and fast. Will go here again!

Wow… excellent clam chowder with a lot of clams per serving. Had the fish and chips plate with fried cod, really good and large portion even on lunch menu. Service was excellent and prices were good. Highly recommend this place.

We are from out of state and thought we would stop by here for breakfast, which they stop serving at 11am? Why i have no idea its the weekend people get up later. Judy the bartender seemed to help everyone but us. It took 15min to get a drink but 2 tables that came in after us got theirs and order taken before we even got menus. Judy seemed rude not only to customer’s but fellow co workers. Sarah ended up takin our order. She was very nice, if it wasnt for her we probably wouldve got up and left. Food was average.

The clam chowder had more clam than potatoes and was delicious! Fried calamari was strips, but very well seasoned and tasty. Cod fish and chips was cooked perfect, not your run of the mill, heavily battered kind that you get at other places. Half portions are plenty, unless you’re sharing. Good service. All in all a good dining experience.

If your looking for the Denny’s of seafood here it is in Warrenton Oregon. First of all I used Unilocal to make my restaurant choice when I was vacationing in Seaside. I had the«crab cakes»(frozen I’m thinking) which had more cake than crab and the hollendaise sauce was just as cold and bland as the crab cake. The French fries that accompanied the meal looked very appealing until I bit into them. The outside was perfectly seasoned looking but it tasted like just a plain ol frenched fry… One of our party ordered the Clam chowder which was par for clam chowder as nothing captured the taste buds to set it apart from other chowders on the west coast. The grilled cheese was as par for the course as the chowder. The price was about right for this meal if it had been better. The service was subpar as one of our members received her food with a mention of several more minutes before the other meals would arrive. Please I hope the Doogers in Seaside is more upscale food etiquette.

Great fresh seafood. Our waitress Michelle was so wonderful, both our kids thought she was the best they’d ever had. We will definitely be stopping again the next time we visit the Oregon coast.

I am really disappointed in the service as well as the price I paid 26 dollars for a petrie dish of crab. I would recommend staying as far away from this place if you can

If you have a family and are looking for a good safe place to eat then this place is for you. Now for a purely subjective opinion of the food. I ordered the Dooger Burger because of the name sake. I ordered it with ham you can also get it with bacon. the burger itself was middle of the road and the ham slice was simply store bought deli meat. French fries, were again standard middle of the road. I had to try the clam chowder, it was thin and soupy, not a lot of flavor. I poured about a ¼ of a bottle of Tabasco sauce in it to make it more exciting. The service was nice and the waitress was friendly. So in summary, it’s a good place to take the kids and get mediocre food. It’s just like an IHOP or a Dennys.

We’ve been to the one in downtown Seaside before, and we needed a decent meal after basketball. We were seated right away, but our server didn’t seem very interested in helping us. We weren’t given enough menu’s, so I ended up walking to the front desk and getting more on my own. The food was average, and the portions were hearty. We had: fried razor clams, hamburger, sea scallops, fried clam strips, calamari and chicken strips. The food, overall, was decent(maybe 3 out of 5 stars), but a bit on the greasy side. The razor clams, however, were tough as shoe leather and overcooked. The shrimp side salads were pretty good, and the burgers were nicely cooked and tender. The host who we paid took some money off the bill due to the overly tough razor clams, and he was nice. We were disappointed based on our prior experience at the Seaside Dooger’s. I would consider this particular Dooger’s more like a Denny’s or Shari’s that served seafood based on our visit. Not bad, but not fine dining.

My husband and I were very pleased with everything, the food, service, and atmosphere. I ordered the lunch special entrée of salmon. I ordered it poached with garlic in the water. It was really good. The fish was moist and flavorful. You get a choice of a side(I ordered the sweet potato fries) and a piece of toast with your entrée. They were both tasty. My husband orders clam chowder all the time, including during this visit. He thought it was very good. He also ordered the clam strips with regular fries which he liked as well. Our service was great. We had a perfect seat by the window which was good for people watching, if you enjoy that.

I normally don’t throw out my 5th star but got to do it this time for this restaurant and meal. First time visitors and decided to go with the standard meals. Cod n chips which includes salad, sweet potatoes fries, banked spud or the clam chowder. I went with the chowders. The chowder was was tasty but a little thin. I liked the thicker creamer chowder but no this had to be better for me. The 6 piece fish meal had an extra piece :) — they were smaller size but perfecto! Moist, very tasty and very filling. The tarter sauce was a great blend. The facility very clean, meals were out very fast with nice follow service from our waitress Sabrina. This will be a regular stop for us going forward. Got to try the rest of the menu.

The only thing this place has to offer as good is the burgers. Very dry atmosphere. The staff are not knowledgable about where the«fresh seafood» comes from. I did give this 2 stars because the sevice is good and the burger was very good and cooked to perfection. My wife likes the chowder, but it looked gross so I did not order it. Don’t order anything deep fried. It retains lots of fry oil. If you want a quiet atmosphere(due to lack of guests) and a good burger that cost 12 bucks this is the place. I have gone back a few times when I was craving a burger.

Stopped by for Sunday dinner after my first three choices in town were closed. Decent food and prices and excellent service. Large restaurant with pretty generic décor, although the adjustable lighting at my booth was a nice surprise. Menu consisted of seafood, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, etc. I got the popcorn shrimp appetizer($ 7.50) and fries($ 1.50). Plenty of shrimp, but they were super tiny(like smaller than a dime) and a little on the oily side… wouldn’t recommend. The cocktail and tartar sauces were good, the piece of garlic toast nothing special. Loved the fries: long, crispy, and generous in portion. I was stuffed by the end of my meal, but I noticed they had plenty of options on their dessert menu including daily $ 2 specials. My dining companion had the Dooger burger with sweet potato fries that looked appetizing. Server was friendly and great about drink refills and my requests for sauces on the side. The crowd was on the older side the night I visited.

Very reasonably priced. Excellent staff. Great food. Best part is that the kids menu is cheaper, but the portions are the same as the adult menu. So those kids on the edge of being too old for a kids menu won’t be left hungry.

I’ve sat on this review for a few weeks prior to writing it. I didn’t want to turn in a negative review because nothing was poor here. Meanwhile, nothing was good, either. How’d we end up here of all the restaurants in the Astoria area? We walked into to Josephson’s Smokehouse and asked the employees where the best place to get local seafood entrees was. The young girl working recommended we go to Dooger’s. She knew they had fresh fish, she said. She later told us she’s bias because she worked there. We took a chance and headed here for lunch. Our waitress struggled. When we asked what seafood was local, she had no idea. She didn’t know if the halibut was, any of the shellfish or salmon. She was nice, but if you work at a place that promotes some of these dishes you should be able to answer some of these questions. Honestly, this place reminded me of somewhere my 91 year old grandma would go. Very bland atmosphere. Little energy. Not much life. The food resembled stuff I ate at Red Lobster, the few times I was forced to go there with my grandma. While the salad that came with my meal had great dressing and fresh greens, the Cajun halibut was just ok. For example, if you’ve been to the Supper Club in Astoria you’d never walk in here again. My friend that got the razor clams wasn’t impressed either. Before you think I’m bashing this place, keep in mind, I’m comparing it to good seafood restaurants and fresh seafood that’s prepared well and cooked by chefs. If that’s your idea of a good seafood restaurant, you might want to think twice about coming here. In fact, the next morning when we told our fishing guides we came here(they’ve lived here for 2 decades) they laughed at us. On the other hand, if the Red Lobster is your kind of place, you will love Dooger’s. Simple as that.

My family was camping in the area and decided to stop in and get some lunch since we were out driving around. We all got the Clam Chowder bread bowl and onion rings and clam strips as appetizers to share. Not a bad price for all the food. It all was really good. I loved the big chunks of clams in the clam chowder. The service was wonderful and very friendly. I’m doing 4 out of 5 stars because the chowder was loose, was more like soup. However it was still really good. Also I think a light toast on the bread bowl would be good; but that’s just me(I like toasted bread).

Hadn’t been to Doogers for 15+ years. Had dinner here late June, pretty disappointing. The restaurant is clean and appealing, lots of windows. Good location, easy to find. I had a bowl of chowder, dinner salad and fish and chips. The chowder was very thin, watery, but had a great taste. The salad was the usual bag of mixed greens(plus a few hard lumps of iceberg) with an ample topping of shrimp. The fish and chips was very disappointing — chips were fine though not many, the fish was about a half dozen fish nuggets, each the size of two tater tots stuck together. It was minimally satisfying, not the great meal I remembered. Had a burger an hour later to quell my hunger. This basically was a Denny’s fish and chips dinner, how sad.

I’m giving this place a 3 star rating for their gluten free options, and because the food overall was good, it was satisfying, nothing rave worthy, but good. The clam chowder was ok, definitely not the best, it was more of a soup, than a chowder, it was so thin, just not a fan of it. The food was decent, I really liked their non-breaded salmon, although it was drenched in butter. The coating on the rest of the items was really nice, and not heavy, I liked their breading. The pie we had was even really good. Our server was one of the friendliest servers that we’ve ever had, while ordering our food, he made sure to check the kitchen with questions we had, and went above, and beyond for us, we absolutely adored him, all the way up until the end of the meal, he stopped checking in on us, and we ended up having to wait forever for things like a to go box, bills, ext. We waited, and waited for him to cash us out, he never came back, so we ended up having to fish cash out of our purse’s instead of using a card, which in the end left our server shorter than planned on the tip. I would go back if someone in our group needed gluten free again, but not much other than that.
