Great Mediterranean food!!! Our new favorite in Warr Acres! Had the tasty falafels to start with and gyro platter for dinner which rocked! Ended with one of each dessert and I liked the rose flavored baklava for its uniqueness. We will be back!

Very delicious, must try to expand your taste buds. Get transported with one bite. Full of flavor that tantalizes the taste buds. Love the Hummus and Falafel. Host very helpful, kind and curteous. We will go back.

In Oklahoma there are not really any great Persian restaurants. However, Travel by taste has the best home cooking Persian food that Oklahoma can offer. There are few other restaurants that do serve some Persian dishes, but none are as good as TBT.

Everything thing is amazing. Got to get the hummus. Owners are very nice there a little understaffed so if it’s busy you may have to refill your own drink but thats not a big deal the food is worth it.

Finally after being let down by so many «highly rated» spots, this one lived up to the ratings!!! Wow this place was outstanding! The owners were awesome, helpful and engaging with us. The food was on another level. We got the Gyro sandwich and the Kabob sandwich! Was a great lunch experience all around, who knew this sleepy little shopping center had such high level food! Highly recommend this place.

Great family business! I go several times a month and have never been disappointed! Only down side is it can be very busy in the evenings. Even when busy they provide great service and great food!

I absolutely love this place. Been coming for years. The owners wife even gave me her recipe for the hummus and the Greek yogurt sauce. How awesome is that !?!

The food is expertly prepared. Have not had the same dish twice and everything has been excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone

Great food. The beef Chelo or Kobedah as I know it as by my first introduction to Iranian food, is amazing as well as their rice. the grilled tomato and zucchini is so flavorful too. I usually order the half portion when I go, because it really is plenty. The bread they give you with the meal is sliced flat bread, and I wasn’t happy about that, but the food is so dang good. I am used to fresh made bread, but maybe the first place I ever ate Iranian food at spoiled me with their fire pit used for baking bread.
They have several imports there like dry goods, sweets, nuts and seeds, etc…
The dining area is cozy, and mysteriously spacious.

Definitely AS GOOD AS IT GETS for authentic PERSIAN food anywhere in OKLAHOMA that is!

Don’t be scared off by the location. The strip mall is a hole in the ground and the parking lot literally has gaping holes in it, but the Food at TBT is beautiful and the owners are lovely. The salmon and the shish kabob are the best. Get double salmon if you eat like me. Hot tea and a scoop of saffron ice cream are a must. Note: September they get fresh dates in (the really good kind that has NO shelf life whatsoever).

I brought a few colleagues here to introduce them to Persian cuisine. I was solely relying on other reviews, and once the food came out, no one (especially me) wasn’t disappointed!
The kebabs and chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The rice was delicious. I will be back here again for sure.

Woo-​Hoo! Found my go-​to Mediterranean place for when I’m craving a super-​delicious falafel sandwich and fries! We heard about this place from the wife of the guy who owns Simply Falafel up in Edmond (which, if you haven’t tried, is simply awesome! but quite a drive…) — She raved about it, so knowing what she’s used to, definitely figured we needed to try TBT out. TBT isn’t the easiest to find, but it’s worth the hunt — Hubby and I walked through the front door into the market and immediately turned left into the dining room — Don’t do that. You’re supposed to continue into the market, grab a menu at the counter, order, then sit yourself in the dining room. We ended up ordering the hummus and pita bread app, I had the falafel sandwich and fries, and the Hubby had the gyro plate — Prices were incredibly reasonable! The hummus was tasty, but the pita bread — YUM! So fresh! The falafel was fantastic and the fries looked like the accordion Ore Ida fries, and I’ve got no shame; those are some of my favorite fries, so my taste buds were in heaven. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his gyro plate (and half my fries) :). The only reason for taking off one star is due to the state of the dining area — There didn’t appear to be a dedicated person for the dining room, so there were 4 – 5 tables around us loaded with dirty dishes that were there when we arrived, and still there when we left. However, that won’t dissuade us from coming back.
Do yourself a favor: check out Travel By Taste; your tummy and wallet will thank you.

What a unexpected surprise. This is such a cute store with a restaurant in the back. The restaurant has very nice details.
Sat down with a table 16 or so. Ordered a gyro and that was it. It was one of the best gyros I’ve had in Okc.
It was around $ 8.50 and that was with a drink.
The servers are super friendly.
I’ll be back!

This place is an absolute hidden gem!
It is in a truly discreet and unassuming location, but the food is neither discreet nor unassuming. I have been here a number of times (?30?) and have never been disappointed. I was fortunate to initially go with a Persian friend of mine who knew the owners, and so I do not know the menu just what I like and how to order it. I have since gone with small and large groups and every time anyone that has gone with me and has never been before is absolutely floored.
Their tahdig is amazing with a topping of what seems like very slowly cooked stew meat. The meat is so tender that the contrast with the traditional tahdig crispness cannot be beat. I can also highly recommend their lamb chops as either an appetizer (which I prefer) or as an entrée. They are perfectly cooked and never disappoint. For a large party, mixing the lamb and tahdig as appetizers is perfect! From there how could it get better? Let me tell you:
Oh yeah… they have kabobs. And they are pretty good… if you are into perfectly cooked and flavored cuts of meat that are meant for eating. Turns out I am into that sort of thing, so I kind of go nuts when I get to go here. The filet is AWESOME! The chicken is phenomenal, the traditional ground beef kabob cannot be beat, and if you are lucky enough to be here when they have made ground chicken kabobs? I can’t tell you that answer. Just don’t order it, because I may be behind you and you better not be the reason they run out and I can’t get it!
So like I said, it’s pretty awesome if you are into super tasty perfectly cooked wonderfully spiced stuff.
Oh yeah… ask for the extra spicy red sauce (I know I am a gringo and so don’t know the real name). It (like everything else) will not disappoint.

This place is best Persian spot in Okc! Everything on their menu is halal.
Food wise they make everything really good. Falafels are so fresh and warm, like they just came out of the oven. Their hummus is good too. Their chelo kabab is really good and make it spicy! Their shish kabob is excellent… very juicy! Their chicken kabob is okay, little bland. Their hot tea is too strong, but it’s black tea without any sugar or cream. Wish they had green tea, oh well.
They take little time to get the food out, but it’s worth it. The lady (the owner) at the counter is so sweet! God bless her soul :)
Beware of their timings, they close on Sunday and Monday. They close at 8pm all other days! Even on a Friday night.
I love this place so much, I come here at least once month. This place beats all the other Mediterranean places in Oklahoma.

Travel by Taste can be described with a single word, delicious.
You didn’t come here for single sentences reviews though. No, you want details and I’m here to bring them.
Travel by Taste Deli & Market is exactly what it’s name implies, both a deli and a market. When you walk into the place you’re greeted with a grocery store like place where you order your food and drink before you walk through a doorway and find the dining area. There’s nothing here that’s particularly fancy, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I came for the food and not the décor anyways.
They bring out a bowl of pita and butter which, as other people have stated, is a weird combination. It’s not completely offputting, but I imagine you may want to order some hummus as an appetizer but I’ve never been a fan of the stuff so the butter was completely fine by me. The water was fine, which may be a weird thing to comment on but I’ve run into a number of places where the water has a weird taste to it.
I ordered the blackened chicken and it was very good. It came with white rice and what I assume is saffron sprinkled on top. The flavor of the rice was nothing amazing, but I think that’s by design. It balances out the spiciness of the chicken and comes together into a pleasing flavor when combined with some of the pita. The dish also comes with grilled vegetables, onions, tomatoes, and zuchini. I’m not a big vegetable person, but the onions were pretty good.
All in all, a decent experience that I’ll probably come back to at some point soon. Would be a nice place to stop by for lunch.

Note (as in other reviews): The entrance is into the small deli/​market. At the counter there are menus and that’s where you order, and then you seat yourself in the dining room which is to the left of the entrance door.
The best way to describe the service is «casual». After we ordered, we sat ourself (fine with me), and it took a bit to get our water, despite being the only customers for a while. But once we got our waters, they stayed consistently filled. The woman was quiet but friendly.
Pita ⁵⁄₅: You get a basket of complimentary pita bread. What I found odd was that it came with butter. I understand hummus is an appetizer that should be bought, but I thought maybe some oil based dipping would make more sense. None-​the-​less, the pita was warm, thick, and fluffy. Very good, and I think I’ll be getting the hummus next time!
Dolma ⁵⁄₅: First of all, I’ve seen some outrageous prices for appetizers in my day, and I’m pleased to report that 4 delicious pieces of dolma here run at $ 2.99 and not a crazy $ 6 that I’ve seen in many other places. They’re short, but widely packed with delicious rice, meat, vegetables, and pine nuts. I love that they cook it in lemon juice for that citrusy flavor. These are served warm here.
Chicken kebab ⁴⁄₅ ($ 8.99 dinner for 5 fairly sized balls of chicken, lots of rice, and grilled vegetables (onions, tomatoes, zucchini in this case): The chicken was so tasty. Packed full of flavor, thick, and juicy. What flavor? I couldn’t tell you. I’m not a spice master.
Saffron rice ⁴⁄₅: The dinner came with a lot of rice. It was a long grain rice with some yellow mixed in, so that’s saffron? I dunno, man, I just ate it. It was very subtle in taste, but not bland. I liked the way it was because their meat is so packed with flavor that I think a rice with more «personality“‘would have been a little much. It’s a great accompaniment.
Grilled vegetables 3−4÷5 (zucchini, tomato, onions): Vegetable lovers? Maybe you’d give it a solid 4 or 5, but this comes from someone who’s «meh» on most vegetables. I really liked the onions, though. Using the pita to scoop up some rice and onion (meat if you feel like cutting some) is a good deal. I am very particular on zucchini, and I only ate it in pieces with the rice to cut some of the flavor, but it was good and grilled very well. I didn’t touch the tomato, sorry! I just do not like the stuff. But it looked visually appealing, so there’s that.
What about the market?
It’s small and seems mostly to be for deli based products. The deli had some good looking meats and a huge selection of nuts! I am definitely going to have to get some from here, which may end up as an update. There are very few shelves, and it’s primarily different oils, vinegar, and olives. There are also cans of dolma for $ 4.99, which is a bit steep for me. I didn’t see if they had grape leaves or not, but I hope they do. There’s also a table dedicated to different types of cookies. And across from all that are shelves for tea and coffee needs, whether it be the consumables or tools to make them.

Tucked into a shopping center near 50^th and MacArthur for over ten years, this is some of the best Mediterranean I’ve had in the city. With an adjacent market and a busy catering business, the restaurant is only part of the equation, but that’s what I’ll cover in this review.
During a lovely dinner with my aunt and uncle and their daughter, we all got to try each other’s meals. I was able to try the Ghormeh Sabzi, chicken and filet kebabs, greek salad with chicken, eggplant stew, and a side of crispy rice. Absolutely everything I tried was wonderful. We’re spoiled, because we have a friend who makes amazing Ghormeh Sabzi and crispy rice; but this was excellent and it’s nice to know we can have this anytime we want and not have to beg our friends to cook for us! The kebabs were wonderful, albeit a safe and pretty generic choice. The greek salad was delicious, especially the balsamic dressing.
Everything we tried was so good and I can’t wait to go back again soon and try more of the menu. We poked around in the market for a minute and everything looked great.

I was introduced to this restaurant by Joshua H. If it weren’t for his recommendation, I’m not sure I would’ve come here on my own. TBT is located in an older building and it’s not easily seen from the road. The main door leads to the market section. They have lots of food for sale — chips, cookies, spices, teas, cakes, nuts, honey and much more.
There is a counter/​cash register on the market side and that’s where you place your order. Then you will proceed to the dining room. The waitress will bring your food over when it’s ready. It was my first time at TBT so I ordered chicken kabob, nothing too exciting. It came with rice and some veggies. I enjoyed my meal very much and prices were cheap! Mine was only $ 8.99. I tried the chelo kabob off my friend’s plate and I think I will get that next time. I don’t even know what kind of meat it was but it was great!
One of the owners was our waitress and she was a super nice lady! The dining room was big and so clean. I didn’t expect this from the way the exterior looked. This is definitely one of OKC’s hidden gems! You must give Travel by Taste a try if you’re looking for something foreign!
