My girlfriend and I began going here in 2013. And like the reviews said at the time it was some of the best around and for the price my favorite restaurant. Since somewhere in 2014 or last two years approximately though we have mainly used for takeout and seem to always have a problem. The last ten times or so we ask for not spicy and say it twice. No spice and verify they heard. Message never seems to get through though and in last two years they have had different people answering the phone. Maybe the cook refuses to not make it without spice, maybe they don’t care, I don’t know. When we eat at the restaurant sometimes we can get message across. Sometimes with delivery they will drive to our house and rede liver to fix it but it’s not always fixed. My girlfriend and I love flavorful food but not the kind where your eyes water and nose runs. So even with many bad results we have tried them again and again but more sporadically in past year. Tonight my girlfriend told me once back in 2013 her and a friend returned something and it came back soapy and oily, I did not quite believe it. Well now I do. Earlier tonight, around 8pm on a Saturday night when the area is busy for parking I drive down and pick up a pad Thai with jumbo shrimp for 16.25. I said not spicy on the phone. But one bite when we get back home and my eyes water, mouth burns and nose runs. My girl concurs. She has to run downstairs and begin cooking dinner as its late and has had only a bagel the whole day and now it’s close to 9. So I call them and complain as I have ten times before and they argue with me as they usually do and say keep the shrimp(cause they are expensive) and we will just send more pad Thai not spicy this time. Well the shrimp are coated and deep fried and rolled in hot pepper like flakes. I could not even wash it off in sink and it will take like an hour(they are busy) for a delivery and my girl is beyond hungry she has waited most of the day since breakfast. So they argue and argue so I say fine I’m driving back I’ll give it back just give me a refund. They argue in a half full restaurant around 9ish on a Saturday night and insist they remake and I try it. No money back. Just for curiosity and because I’m fair or a teacher, I don’t know… I did say ten times just give me a refund my girl is already at home making something else…(I know she won’t want it and in my mind the soap washing etc) guess what? It is now 1115 on a Saturday night I am very sick need to crap myself stomach is rolling. They must have used soap. It was soaked in oil cooked to a crisp no spice at all so they got that part right and I don’t currently feel I will wake up tomorrow. They are vindictive and evil. I could not believe the balls on these people. We will never go there again I will contact the bank(I used a debit card). I feel like contacting the police and a lawyer. A lot of people have already begun to use them less, the quality has come down of late. Now for the price and type of food it was pretty slim pickings in want agh. I think we will just need to cook at home nearly always now on our budget. Just really furious, really mad, and shocked. I gave them one final chance to make it right knowing my girl would never eat it. I ate it instead when it tasted oily cause I am curious like a cat. And now I am sick as a dog as the saying goes. I wish I could make the type of return to them now on a busy Saturday night that clearly informs everyone dining they will deliberately food poison a customer out of spite, to save money, or stupidity I don’t know. And if you don’t know what type of return I mean, I mean puking, the shrimp, the pad Thai the soap oil and any poison they possibly put in my food. I am fuming mad. I hope someone else reads this who has money time and the same experience down the line and gets a lawyer and takes them to court or puts them in some newspapers. Shame, shame, shame.

Pad Thai was ok. Spring rolls were delicious! The time estimate I got from grubhub was spot on, they came within the estimate. Only major issue was that may Thai iced tea had apparently spilled during the delivery so my bag was soaked and so was some of the bag wrapped food inside of the bag. Poured some for the homies.

I just ordered takeout from here for the first time and I enjoyed it. I do have one complaint though, the prices on their website are not current. When we went in to pay the price was a bit more than we expected. We got an order of drunken noodles, pad thai, green curry with chicken and eggplant, and chicken Massaman curry. The drunken noodles were soft and delicious with a nice subtle spice. The pad thai was not bad, but it was our least favorite dish overall. We have had much better pad thai elsewhere. I wouldn’t order it again. The green curry was light, flavorful, and not overwhelming as we had experienced it in the past at other places. The chicken in it was tender and delicious. The Massaman curry was light and flavorful just like the green curry was, only difference is that this curry was much sweeter and more mild. The chicken in it was tender as well. Many times when ordering these curries elsewhere they tend to be thick and gritty. I really liked the way that these were prepared here being light and creamy. Ultimately, the curry here isn’t quite as complex as some others that I have had, but I found that ok. Also, many times the chicken in the curries tend to become dried out. This place really got the chicken right. The portions were good overall, but the Massaman curry had much more meat in it than the green curry did. I’m assuming that was an error on their part. I recommend giving Thai Coconut a try, mainly for take out. They are by no means my favorite Thai restaurant, but if you live in the area it’s not bad. There are much better places to dine out at. 3.75 stars to be exact.

Thai Coconut has been on our to do list for some time and last night we took the leap of faith and went to Wantagh… located. At the LIRR station its in the middle of nowhere. At 9pm parking was scarce and circled till we found one. Looking from the outside it doesn’t appear inviting. Once inside looks like a takeout place not a warm eat in restaurant. We were greeted on arrival and seated. Menu is vast for such a small place. For appys we got Mini Spring Rolls with a vinegar bases dip. They were very crisp with not much filling. Should have had the 2 piece order of full sized rolls… more filling. Also shared Drunken Noodles with tender beef as appy. Just ok… other than good beef, not stellar in either taste or consistency. For mains we ordered Basil Chicken… over loaded with green peppers and vegges and not so much chicken… again ok but nothing special. Also got Penang Curry… Best of dishes ordered. Compared to other Thai options this is not a keeper… for eating in its meh and for the effort you can do better.

Small, quaint store front with absolutely amazing food. The women who works at the counter also takes your order and serves your food. It was hands down the best Thai food I’ve had anywhere around here. Definitely would recommend to anyone local. BONUS: if you pay with cash, you get 15% off your check! ENJOY :)

We had lunch here and I was surprised that the servings are big let alone the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The foods are great just be knowledgeable on what you’re in for. Very good for family gatherings on a Sunday cuz they’re not that busy. Although the food here are not as authentic as what Thais eat, the flavors are rich and reasonably priced. I would love to come back here and try some other options. All in all, this place is one of Long Island’s gems.

Wantagh’s best hidden gem! LOVE this place! Whether you dine in or take out, the quality is the same(and the portion– I know some places skimp on portion size when you take out). Always order the pad Thai which is the best I’ve ever tried. Their basil chicken is delicious too, and their drunken noodles! I can’t think of the names of he other entrees I’ve tried but I know Ive loved them all. The service is always great and it’s a nice small quiet little place to sit and enjoy your dinner.

Horrible service I just got a delivery from them and they came in a reasonable time and when i looked at our order we had no utensils and missing our thai iced teas didn’t mind that either what I do mind is being told that they don’t give them on deliveries and was asked to come pick up our thai ice tea and given a attitude when asked to also bring hot sauce … Every Time I have ordered there was little thing goes wrong but never complained, but to tell me come pick up the food they forgot … Why would I come pick it up when I needed it delivered. So beyond done with this place wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. No knowing the language doesn’t mean you don’t know how to be nice or have good customer service … Beyond out raged .oh yea thank you for finally getting here after a 1 hour wait and still forgetting the hot sauce and fully melted watered down thai iced tea

Have been to this place twice so far. First trip was for lunch, it was just good. This time for dinner, it was amazing. To start we had a massive bowl of tofu and noodle wrapped shrimp, I had the Garlic Chicken with Coconut Rice, my girlfriend had the Spicy Mango Shrimp, and for desert, Mango Rice. Everything was perfect and the Spicy Thai Chill sauce they gave us made it even better. Being that I am highly allergic to MSG, upon request, I was able to have it removed from all the food on the table(didn’t get sick at all). This is one of the main reasons, other then the great service and great food, why I have decided to bump the rating up to a 5 star. Thank you, I will be back!!!

Excellent Thai restaurant. We dinned in, the food was delicious and the service was good. They had a few selections of wine, and Japanese beers, and of course Thai iced tea. We all got chicken pad Thai that had a kick to it, but it wasn’t over powering. Very tasty. Would definitely go back, and would even consider getting delivery, but some other reviews say it’s a long wait for delivery.

I love getting take out and delivery here. Good clean Thai food While there are Thai restaurants that are better, Thai Coconut is authentic and offers friendly service… If you like Thai food brimming with authentic flavor, give it a try for lunch or dinner, very reasonable…

Haven’t been able to find good Thai food on Long Island so this was a treat. Ordered lunch specials and the food was tasty and a great value. We tried the shrimp basil, pineapple fried rice, pahd see yu, garlic shrimp and mango chicken. Each order came with 4 mini spring rolls and were under $ 10. No complaints here.

Debating between 2 and 3 stars. Started with good Thai Iced tea with real lime. Satay was overcooked and rubbery. Peanut sauce was ok, but I prefer it thicker and richer. Our dishes(Chix Basil and Chix Peanut) saved the meal. They were not the best I’ve had, but they were fresh and flavorful. Major Flaw: Asked for Cucumber Sauce and the waitress(Chinese– not Thai) had no idea what it was! Sister is moving to area– anyone know where the best Thai is???

I love Thai Coconut. I always order delivery from here. Wait times for delivery vary, with up to 90 minutes during rush hours(ordered via Grubhub). The delivery people are always nice, and they even called me to follow up an order where I asked for no shrimp on the pad thai and offered to substitute chicken instead. Their spring rolls are oh so yummy, albeit a little greasy. Their pad thai is not their strongest dish. While it’s super spicy and comes with a variety of goodies, the flavor is just not the best I’ve had. The chicken satay also isn’t the greatest. I’d suggest you stick to the pahd see yu and you’re golden!

Thai Coconut, I’m sorry but I have to deduct a star. You started out as one of my favorite new Thai spots in the area… but because of recent visits/takeout experiences, I’ve been a bit disappointed. On several occasions I’ve ordered takeout and they’ve forgotten something. Like my rice for example. I asked if someone would be able to drop it off(since my family began eating already) and they said they couldn’t deliver it for about an hour! Way too long. We also ordered Chicken Satay one night and the same thing happened. Its been a bit hit/miss lately. And out of all the Thai Peanut Salads I’ve had, this one was not as impressive. They need more leafy greens and not just iceberg with chunks of tomato. The reason I’m keeping it at a 4 is because the dishes that I still order, they do well. Their Pad Thai, Pad See Yu, Gai Kaprow, etc… are consistently delicious and I always have plenty for leftovers. As well as their Tom Yum Goong Soup is still my favorite. They just need to step up their Delivery/Takeout game quite a bit. Come on, Thai Coconut!

The food is amazing! My husband and I eat here pretty frequently and the service is always spot on. The staff is friendly and quick, and it is always a pleasure to go to. Last night I ordered from them with GrubHub for the first time, and the food was just as hot and delicious as if I was going out to them. And to top off my meal, they even threw in a Thai tea for free. Who doesn’t like free!!! Thai Coconut is always a good decision.

So surprised that I never tried this comfortable little Thai place that I’ve passed so many times before. Satay is well made and nicely presented, though their peanut sauce is not the best I’ve tried. Atypical chicken dishes, noodle plates and the like. We tried the peanut chicken, which was wonderful and Drunken Noodles quite tasty, sweet spicy You will definitely return, and if you don’t come back soon enough, the charming owner/manager will let you know that you have been missed.

I am so impressed with Thai Coconut! The Thai food is seriously some of the best I’ve found on Long Island by far. The first time going to the restaurant, I dined in their small but very clean & modern dining room where I received great service from a lovely lady who calls everyone honey. I ordered the Coconut Jumbo Prawns because the reviews are stupendous & the pics just make your mouth salivate. I also knew that this is the type of dish that needs to be eaten in the restaurant since it is butter battered & lightly fried crisp & taking that home & reheating is probably ok but not as good as coming fresh right out of the kitchen. The shrimp were crisp & light & served on a bed of crispy rice noodles & to my happy surprise, also a few strips of mango. The lovely server brought it out after I ate the amazingly delicious, light & crisp Po Pia(Spring Rolls) filled with very flavorful filling of rice noodles, mushroom, carrot, & marinated cabbage. She asked me which type of rice I would like & I appreciated because I love coconut rice. The dish was really good & I can understand why the reviewers rave about it; however, I believe there is one component of heat missing from this dish. The sweetness is subtle but I think perhaps a touch of chili may balance the sweet flavor profile out in a nice way. I also ordered Pad Thai so I can take with me for lunch the next day. Oh my God! The Pad Thai is perfect! Loaded with lots of baby shrimp, the balance of peanut & red chili with the tofu… yum!!! The dish was perfectly balanced & just superb! I also ordered Thai Iced Tea to drink & it was really good. I appreciated that it wasn’t too weak or watered down with too much water or cream. Perfect! I loved the food so much, a few days later I went back for take out. I ordered the Indian Bread & Shao Mai Dumplings. Both were seriously awesome! I had never had either & wanted to try them. I also ordered the Pad Thai again & the Lar Nard because I really wanted to split them with my friend & show what really delicious Thai food tastes like! The Lar Nard is also the best I’ve had! The broad noodles with brown gravy, bok choy, & extremely tender pieces of beef was so delicious, so flavorful, & just perfect. I will be going to Thai Coconut a lot & can’t wait to keep trying new things & writing about it!!! Anyone who is in the mood for stellar Thai food, RUN, don’t walk to Thai Coconut!!!

Visit Date: November 21, 2014 I met my friend Michelle in Wantagh and we decided to eat here for dinner. The restaurant was clean and simple looking, to me it had the classic good thai restaurant sort of look to it. As an appetizer we got the Indian Sweet Bread AKA Indian Pancakes and Spring rolls. The spring rolls were delicious the outer dough of the rolls, flaky, buttery and crisp. The indian sweet bread was so delicious, so warm and tasty, I was able to taste the sugar crystals rolled inside the bread and the peanut sauce complimented the sweet bread perfectly. For dinner I had the pad thai. It was delicious here, so much better than what I got a P.F. Chang’s. The tofu resembled the tofu I know and love in a classic pad thai dish, the noodles were perfect, the sauce was great and I had a good amount of vegetables mixed in with the dish. It was so good I had to stop eating it because I was getting full. Our server was so nice, I believe his name was Jeff. He kept checking up on us and making sure we were okay. This great little place by the Wantagh train station is definitely tops to eat at and you can head on over to the cup for coffee and dessert when you’re meal here is over.

Dude… One of the tastiest, inexpensive, low key thai joints I have found thanks to my fellow Unilocalers! Fried calamari appetizers were absolutely excellent, and truly finger lickin’ good! The sweet/spicy chili sauce with them was great, and the calamari was not stringy or chewy, just perfectly tender and expertly breaded. The paneang curry was BANGIN’!!! Packed the right amount of heat/spice/sweetness ratio, extremely tender chicken, and very«flufy» tasty rice(that’s including both the white and brown I had). And also — HUGE portion, which is always a plus for a big dude like my self. I scarffed it ALL down and was left with absolutely no room for desert. Pad see yew that my GF had was right on par with my curry, very tasty, not overly greasy, great flavor. None of the food was bland tasting, everything was undoubtedly fresh and prepared right when we ordered it – the food did take a considerable amount of time to come out of the kitchen, even though it wasn’t too busy but well worth the wait. I will deffinitely be returning to Thai Coconut. In a selfish way I hope they don’t get too popular otherwise there won’t be anywhere to sit! haha, definitely not too great for big groups with out a reservation.
