Went to Valentine’s day brunch with a party of 5 total. It was a madhouse of course as any restaurant is on a holiday, so the drinks took a few minutes longer to get out but they were well worth the wait. Our server was Ally, she was pleasant and efficient despite the demanding nature of the restaurant at that time. I advised my friend to get the chicken and waffles as I had enjoyed it so much last time. He loved it. My other friend ordered the frittata and had no complaints. Bf got the Steak and Eggs(again) MR and it was as great as last time. I went with the pastrami smoked salmon ‘Avocado Toast.’ Awesome. Loved every bit of it, still need to get in for dinner. Taco and Tequila Tuesday. Addicted to Snaps.

Came on Thursday to try the snap burger for $ 5 and most of the restaurant did the same. Started with the lobster Mac and cheese, it was very good. Creamy, cheesy and had tasty crunchies on top alongside chunks of lobster. The only downside is that it was on the cold side which was odd considering it came in a cast iron skillet, still very yummy though. Ordered the snaps burger medium rare with truffle fries on the side. Burger was cooked perfect and was very juicy. My friends burger however was overcooked but still juicy I wouldn’t Order it medium or more just ask for medium rare. The truffle fries were super addicting, seasoned well and had plenty of Parmesan cheese on top.(You will finish all of them) Service was super friendly and prompt, they have food runners and people refilling waters throughout the night. flourless chocolate cake was a great ending to the meal. It was warm, light and super chocolatey(almost mousse like) served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The blonde was delicious too! A Must try if you like nuts and warm cookies straight from the oven. This place gets packed and they really want you to eat and leave, but I don’t blame them. Parking is terrible and they need to do something about the pot holes in the back lot. Food is gastropub style deliciousness a definite try if you haven’t already.

Had been wanting to try this restaurant for a few years and finally did this past Friday(which was valentines weekend and made a reservation that worked out perfectly) I wish I had tried it out SOONER!!! It was amazing! Our waiter Eric was awesome. He was professional and on his game. The restaurant was packed and still he was super attentive but not overbearing and very knowledgeable. Thank you for the great dining experience! The menu was eclectic which I appreciate, not just the plain old boring options you find in other places. The specials sounded wonderful but we stuck to the regular menu as there were too many great options to choose from. Appetizers were shrimp tempura and chicken dumpling/wanton. Both tasty. Entrees were the salmon that was excellent and the 24 hour braised beef short rib«sloppy joe» on focaccia bread with truffle onions cheddar cheese sauce and mushrooms and came with fries! This was out of this world tasty. Short ribs were cooked to perfection loved the truffle onions as it was just the right amount of truffle taste to the sandwich. DOYOURSELF A FAVOR and try this at least once you will not be disappointed! Dessert was fried Nutella ravioli with a cherry compote. And was nothing short of outrageous just as it sounds! I don’t live local but it’s my new favorite spot as I have so many dishes I need to try

Food-Amazing Service-Amazing Beer-sub par at best. This restaurant has everything going for it, except its awful beer selection. Artfully crafted menu, creative cocktail list, and then Sam Adams on draft. Completely turned me off, to see so much effort and thought go into a restaurant only to be lazy about the beer selection. In a growing craft beer world, more and more guests are looking for something different. As I’ve said in other posts, cheap beers cheapen your restaurants. Probably won’t return until things get better in that department.

Visited Snaps for a birthday/wedding anniversary celebration. Very quaint, relaxed décor and environment … Great for any occasion …(First date, family night out, happy hour, etc.) Reasonably priced and many specials. Because of the size and popularity, CALLAHEADFORRESERVATIONSFIRST, eating at 6:30 after work on a Tuesday night, saw the place in a blink of an eye, fill up quick!!! Food was tasty … Staff was friendly … But very inefficient … Orders of drinks took a little too long to arrive to the table … And food order was also messed up and side orders forgotten, but our waitress(ashamed and embarrassed) took care of the mishap … That’s the only reason they lost a star from me. Definitely recommend the Truffle Fries. Just make sure they come out with the rest of your dinner! All and all I would comeback but would be wary of any more mishaps from the staff.

Boyfriend and I had an early dinner at «Snaps» tonight. We arrived at approximately 4:30 and there was no wait, a few tables were vacant but the restaurant quickly filled up. We waited a little longer than we should have to order our drinks and service was pretty slow throughout the meal. I ordered from the prix fixe menu which offered an appetizer, entrée and dessert for I believe $ 27.50, which was a good deal. Shrimp tempura for the appetizer. Cooked very well, crispy, not oily. However I didn’t enjoy the dipping sauce so I did have to add some salt to the shrimp. I enjoyed them. Hangar steak for the entrée. I ordered the hanger steak, medium rare which came with potato purée(mashed potatoes), green beans and a horseradish sauce. I asked the waiter to omit the horseradish sauce. My steak arrived, perfectly cooked but the horseradish sauce was indeed included. Thankfully the sauce was not poured over the steak and was placed around the steak as I tasted it and it was awful.(I don’t like horseradish). The steak was sliced over the mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was very tasty and mashed potatoes were. Just decent. Nothing to write home about. For dessert I got the bread pudding. I guess they have different assortments of bread pudding. Tonight’s was blueberry bread pudding. It was pretty good. My boyfriend ordered a mango, jalapeño margarita which he really enjoyed. For his entrée he ordered the 16oz. Rib eye which came with a peppercorn sauce over diced garlic, rosemary potatoes. He really enjoyed his steak. I tried the potatoes which were OK. For dessert he ordered the bananas foster sundae which I also tried. The gelato used in the sundae was great but didn’t really taste the«bananas foster» so much. All in all, it was a pretty good dinner. I may come back. For the price, I probably could’ve eaten somewhere else where I would’ve enjoyed my food just a bit more but it was good.

I took my friends out for a birthday dinner at Snaps because they love this place and I know why. The food is really good. We came on a Wednesday night which had $ 5 fried chicken specials along with some $ 5 sides to choose from. My husband and I both got the fried chicken. I had mine with truffle mac and cheese and kale salad. He got the fries topped with cheese. My friend ordered the lamb which he loved, and his girlfriend got a sandwich with a side of pesto pasta. Everything was delicious. Even though we were full, we still got dessert. I enjoyed my blondie with ice cream. I can’t wait to come back and try something else! I recommend making reservations, and parking in the back lot. This place gets packed!

Snaps is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. I have never had a bad experience here. Their specials are phenomenal. Their tacos and burgers are great. The tacos cost only $ 4 on Tuesdays. I usually get two servings of the tacos and that satisfies me. The burgers are $ 5 on Thursday and it is the best $ 5 burger you will ever have. It is filling also. I usually get an appetizer when I come for the specials. I love coming on Thursdays for their burgers. Make sure to make a reservation because the restaurant gets crowded. The wait time can be long so if you’re feeling risky and decide not to make a reservation be prepared to wait. The desserts tastes amazing also. I would definitely recommended this place as a nice date night. Plus they do have happy hour and alcohol specials most days of the week.

Went twice this past month: both times I felt full and satisfied… with the food at least. As far as appetizers, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the lobster mac n cheese, truffle-parm gnocchi, teriyaki wontons and antipasta salad. The first time I got the short-rib«sloppy joe,» which is basically like a philly cheesesteak if philadelphia had any class. It was certainly sloppy as the meat could hardly be contained between the cheese-dripping buns. Truffle fries were enjoyable. The second time I got the lobster«encrusted» filet mignon, which, as another Unilocaler pointed out, isn’t really a «crust,» so much as it is a chunk of warm lobster salad on top. The filet itself was DELICIOUS, and cooked perfectly. I felt I got more chunks of lobster in the mac n cheese than in the lobster salad, which had an extra-fishy smell to it, but was still okay. I look forward to returning to try several other appetizers(including the knuckle sandwich) and one of their revered burgers. In contrast to their kitchen, their bar sucks. The beer list is both limited and lame. The wine isn’t terrible, but it’s certainly not the greatest(also limited), and they charge you for a glass the same amount it costs to buy a bottle. A request for a simple gin martini returned a shelf-vodka martini, though the waitress quickly resolved the issue. Servers were friendly and attentive both times. Couple other minor cons: — it’s a popular restaurant(cuz, duh) and it can get pretty cramped — the parking lot is even tinier and more cramped — good food does not come cheap. neither does mediocre booze — i love the flavor of truffles, but I think the menu overdoes it a bit: 4 appetizers + 2 entrees + all fries

So, so good. One of my favorite restaurants in Wantagh, definitely. It doesn’t look like much from the outside — Snaps sits in a tiny shopping center off of Sunrise highway, but I really like the ambiance here, with the hardwood floors and black tables and chairs. The menu is creative with a lot of variety. Even if you are a picky eater you are bound to find something you will love. They have a delicious selection of appetizers and entrees. From burgers to salads to chicken you can’t go wrong here! On top of the menu’s variety and quality of the food, service here is friendly and quick. I recommend stopping by if you’re in town!

This is my go to restaurant when in Wantagh. The food is great, service is attentive, and the atmosphere is alive. Hands down the best restaurant you’ve probably never heard of!!!

Snaps has been around since 2004, so I am a little late to the party, but with the nice décor, extensive menu and great service I can see why Snaps has been a popular choice for so long. Arriving a bit early for a 7:30pm Sunday dinner I found the parking lot a bit crowded although there was more potential parking in the back through a narrow driveway next to the building. I chose to park across the street, which was fine. Our group of seven were promptly seated in a comfortable banquette near the window as we were handed their extensive menus. Beers and wine were the drink of choice for our group — I personally went with the Warsteiner Hefeweizen, a refreshing wheat beer on this unusually warm December evening — a good choice and large pour. Some of my friends were drinking Chianti then one of the more financially savvy of our group realized it was half price bottle night and got a great deal on a «delightful» Chianti @ $ 15 for the bottle. The burgers are a popular choice and it is easy to see why — a generous 8oz patty cooked to perfection with excellent toppings and styles to choose. All that ordered seems to really enjoy them. I went a little lighter with the sea scallop special served with a sweet potato hash, wilted greens and a beet sauce. It was tasty, but one of the scallops was a bit«off» a little tough — perhaps overcooked? I tried the truffle fries ordered for the table — not a fan of truffles unfortunately. I also tried the truffle mac and cheese — again, whats with truffles in everything? A friend ordered the lamb shank(?) special and I heard it was amazing — it sure looked it! A few of us ordered dessert — I heard great things about the banana fosters and it lived up to the hype. Served in a mason jar is was a generous portion of banana and gelato, chocolate and whipped cream. A great ending to a great night. Perhaps I didn’t have a perfect night, but it was still a very good experience. There are so many specials most nights and an excellent happy hour that it makes this place a MUSTRETURN, when I can be a little more focused on the meal and less with partying with my group.

I came here with my boyfriend and my cousin and her boyfriend to get some dinner before going to Jones Beach for the light show. My boyfriend and I were a little bit early so we went to the bar to grab a quick drink. It’s a nice little bar and that wasn’t too crowded when we got there. We got our drinks quick from the bartender but the drinks are so overpriced. When we sat down it was crowded but emptied out quick. We found that they had half off bottles of wine on Thursdays(sweet!!) so we ordered 2 for the table. I got the Baja burrito bowl which was delicious! Everyone else enjoyed their food which included the kale salad and some burgers. The only reason this place isn’t getting a 5 star rating — the service. The bartender wasn’t very friendly and our waitress took very long to greet us and get our orders. But I would definitely come back here.

Came here on a Sunday evening for drinks and dinner with friends. They have a great special of 50% off bottles of wine so we took advantage of that and had two for the table. The food came out quick and no one had any complaints. The roasted kale salad with chicken added I had was really good. The service was ok, we didn’t have a waiter for 10 minutes and no water for 20. The bar scene is dead and over priced. A gin and tonic and a draft Sam Adams was $ 20 which is ridiculous. I will come back here for dinner maybe try the tasting menu next time.

I adore this place. The food is always fresh, the drinks & beer are all fantastic, the service is fabulous, there is a Chef’s Tasting Menu and there are daily specials! What’s not to love? And it’s bigger than it use to be, which makes it great for more seating room and being able to get in. I highly recommend reservations, especially on burger night!

I don’t know where to start. Before I do I have to say the staff is friendly. This place has valet parking and it doesn’t need to. They are trying to be something they are, simply, NOT. They are not a high end establishment by any means. I feel bad writing this because again, the staff was great but the food was horrible! I had tilapia which was not seasoned one bit. For appetizers I got gnocchis which were not cooked right… they were not fluffy like they are supposed to be. I think they were trying to hide the bad gnocchis in the over salted cream sauce(they should have shared the salt with the tilapia). I don’t think I will go back and don’t really recommend it.

This place is AWESOME! You cannot come here and not order their truffle fries… ask for them to come out extra hot because sometimes it’s just room temp… their truffle Mac and cheese is unreal as well. On Wednesdays they have a great special…$ 5.00 for fried chicken! And $ 5.00 for side dishes which you could get either the fries, Mac and cheese, vegetables etc. Supposedly their drinks are made well. This place gets packed… never been on a weekend so I can’t speak for the weekend crowd but it’s always filled up during the week. Their Greek salad with grilled shrimp has to be one of my favorite salads ever. Definitely give it a shot if you’re in the neighborhood. You won’t be disappointed!

Returning to this old friend after a hiatus(following a memorable martini fueled family spat last visit), I fell in love all over again! $ 5 dollar gin martinis and $ 5 burgers with $ 5 dollar sides would be a no brainer, but the fact that everything is so good takes this spot to the top! My cocktail Hendricks with 3 olives is self explanatory. Burger(no bun) rare as ordered beefy juicy with just the right amount of cheese and crumpled bacon. The kale salad, served as a $ 5 side was a contrast in flavors and textures, slivers of green apple. almonds, something porky and crunchy, crumbles of cheese and crispy kale. My dining companion wolfed his burger, creamed spinach and untruffled fries, totally satisfied. The hardest part about dining here is passing on the excellent desserts! Bananas Fosters is to die for — sadly not part of my current diet!

I’d give service 3 stars and food 5 stars. I’ve been eyeing Snaps for a very long time now. Finally they’ve updated their website and I could read the menu and I knew this is where I wanted to have brunch. My fiancé and I arrived around a quarter to noon on a beautiful Sunday morning. The place was practically empty with only 3 other tables occupied. We sat down and put our drink orders in. I had the peach bellini that was quite refreshing. Here’s a rundown on what we ordered: Crab empanada: The shell was truffle dusted and was laying on a pile of corn salsa my fiancé enjoyed. The black bean truffle sauce was nice. The empanada itself was very good except the filling was a tad too salty. Foie gras cornbread: The portion was decent for the price. The cornbread was not great. It was too dry and crumbly but the foie was perfect and the tomato jam paired well. Truffled scramble: My fiancé said these were the best scrambled eggs he’s ever had at a restaurant. The hanger was cooked perfectly and it was all tied together with the bacon hollandaise. This was an excellent dish. Lobster benedict: This was incredible. Crispy buttery toast stuffed with an insane amount of succulent lobster, topped with perfectly poached eggs, bacon hollandaise, and amazing breakfast potatoes. What more could you ask for of the most decadent brunch I’ve ever had?! It was just insane. And it was even delicious today when I had my leftovers. Now heres where my review gets dicey. Service left a lot to be desired. Both of our entrée plates had rather large chips in them. Both my appetizer plate and entrée plates still had food on them while the waiter and waitress both grabbed at them to take them away. Unless I specifically ask you or there is no longer food on my plate, don’t be quick to grab it. Food took quite some time to come out. Especially our starters. People who sat almost an hour after us had food on their tables within minutes and we were still chomping on our eggs. I’d come back here for the food. I can tolerate less than stellar service if the food is amazing, and it is here.
