This was my first time visiting this salon. I needed to relax after an extremely stressful week and was looking forward to my pedicure. First, Kara did my pedicure. She acted like she was too good to be doing it and that it was interrupting her time. The whole thing took 5 minutes!!! The women next to me who were there getting a regular pedi before me were still there getting one after I was moved to my nails. She barely filed after clipping, didn’t push cuticles back and scrubbed my feet for 10.5 seconds. There was no leg massage and she painted each toe with one brush. Didn’t look at me once and kept talking about me to her co-workers who would then look at me and laugh. Second, she moved me to her chair but when someone else came in she asked me to move to another chair so she could take this other women. I sat there waiting for someone to do my nails(Susan). Talking through the whole thing and not even looking at my nails. She clipped them, barely filed and I had to file the edges when I got home. She cut me three times while doing my cuticles because she was looking at the women and talking and laughing instead of looking at my nailss. At one point she stopped working all together to finish a conversation. Obviously the nail polish remover burned and then she went back to my cuticles and cut me again, when I jumped she looked away and acted like nothing happened. Third, when I went to pay, she asked me for my phone number and I said why… Her response was because I come back for 10 visits. I said no and then she said $ 23 for mani and pedi. The fans to dry are awful and I sat there much longer than I wanted… NOTRETURNING!!!

For the price($ 15 for a mani/pedi M-W), it can’t be beat — but don’t expect the star treatment here. I went on a Wednesday afternoon, before everyone gets out of work. There were about four customers, two of which were leaving when I arrived. I usually take a while to decide on a color. This was especially the case on this day because I have a wedding this weekend and I didn’t want anything too out there. It didn’t help that their color selection was seriously lacking. Almost no OPI colors, and many of the same looking colors. The woman manicurist came over a few times to help me choose, but I really think it was to get me in the pedi chair quicker. I chose my two colors and went off with her. As she took off the previous color on my toe nails, an OPI sea green, the woman next to her started looking at the green color and was making comments to the woman working on my feet. I continued to «read» my magazine as I saw my manicurist comment back to her, and show her her nails, where she asked ME to put my possible color choices on HER nails. I didn’t ask her to give up her nails for my sampling, nor did I ask her to make scathing remarks about it to the woman she works with. NOT cool. That was strike one for me. Next eh thing? The foot scrub part was virtually non-existent. She rubbed some scrub on my legs and did a light scraping on the bottom of my feet. I actually had to come home and do the rest myself, because my heels, which get the worst of it in summer, were barely touched by her. The massage was pretty lame, too. Finally, she worked on my nails. She left the polish looking streaky and uneven in some spots. That’s just not good. Oh, and when I looked at my feet later, I noticed she cut my big toe nail too short in one spot, so it looks totally uneven. Needless to say, I got a rushed, cheap mani/pedi. For $ 15, with a few bucks tip, it’s good if you just need a mani/pedi and don’t feel like feeling pampered. If you want quality work, though, go elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend going here at any time other than Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Clean facilities and tools and a $ 15 combo mani pedi special drew me in last Tuesday. I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn’t give my nails proper time to dry, but my mani pedi still turned out great. The $ 15 special is for mani pedis Monday through Wednesday.

Euro Nail offers a few different kinds of special pedicures, all ranging in price. All pedis include the standard foot bath, callus scrubdown, and polish, of course. Using natural ingredients(lemon, honey, green tea, vitamin E) are all main features of their special pedis. The one I got was the lemon pedicure which featured a lemon treatment, honey lotion, and essential oil treatment. Euro Nail is set up in a single row of stations. It stretches back the length of the store so it is very big, just with a narrow layout. There were about 6 or 7 pedi stations all equipped with massage chairs and foot baths with dancing multicolored lights inside. There are about five manicure stations and they do waxing and massages in the very back. My pedi started with a 5 – 10 minute soak while I waited for the next manicurist to be free. There were only four people on staff that day, including two men(a surprise, I have never seen men working at a nail shop before!). When the female pedicurist was free she came over and promptly removed my existing polish and got to work. Next was a soap/oil wrap on both feet. They take pieces of plastic wrap and coat the bottom with a foot soap/oil, wrap your feet, and let it sit while they clip and file your nails. When they are done they scrub the hell out of your feet with a callus file. This was the most thorough foot scrub I have ever received, with careful attention to my rough heels and runners calluses, thank god. While your feet are rinsing they scrub your legs down with a sugar scrub and fresh squeezed lemon juice(they keep the wedges on hand and add a few drops here and there, hence«lemon pedicure»). After the foot and leg scrub are done they rub them down with a hot towel. After that they break a vitamin E capsule over each leg and rub that into your legs, feet, and toenails. They finish with a honey lotion and give you a full leg and foot massage. It was heavenly. Finally they prepare a paraffin wax for your feet and let it harden while they polish your toes. When they are done they put you under the dryers for 10 minutes. The cost for the lemon pedicure was $ 25 but the special pedis go up to $ 50 depending on what treatment you get. The whole thing, start to finish was completely relaxing. At Euro Nail they really try to make it as much like a spa experience as they can. It’s too bad I was visiting from out of town but if I’m ever back on Long Island, I would totally repeat this place. Also, there is ample parking in the rear.
