Venturi Staffing Partners

Just an FYI, I believe that Venturi Staffing Partners in Waltham is no longer in business. I tried calling both numbers that I found online (781) 487‑6300 and (781) 487‑4100 and both numbers are «The number that you dialed is no in service.»

I actually dealt with the Venturi in Boston MA.
They were good for awhile. When I signed up with them 3 years ago I got an assignment right away. It only lasted a month but I was almost immediately hired for another part time assignment that lasted just over a year.
After that assignment ended I called Venturi and they said that my rep no longer worked there and I was assigned someone new. I called her a few times to see if there was anything she could give me but she kept telling me the same thing «when something comes up, I’ll call you»…that was 2 years ago now, I’ve yet to hear from them.
Needless to say I’m not working for them again.

Utterly a waste of time. I came in for my «interview» to meet the recruiter. She was pleasant enough, and said she had all these job opporunities I’d be perfect for.
The next day I get a call that she’s scheduled a phone interview for me at 2pm. Uh, ok thanks for the heads up, but what about telling me something about the company and actually checking with me before scheduling an interview?
I did manage to go on one job interview, but wasn’t hired. No reason given, the recruiter didn’t know why. That’s fine. But to this day she contacts me and tells me she’s got a «fabulous» opportunity for me. She just has to send over my resume to her client. And then I never hear anything… and I’m not interested in hearing anything! I think the problem is they just try to push you into any job, regardless of what you are looking for.
Stop calling me and sending me emails! jeez.

After a very lengthy job search about 2 years ago, I decided to go through a staffing agency because I wasn’t getting any callbacks. I contacted Venturi Staffing Partners after hearing good things by word of mouth.
I made an appointment for an «interview». They told me to set aside about 3 hours for the «interview» because there are some tests you have to take before you actually sit and talk to one of their recruiters.
I showed up 20 minutes early for my 10:30 appointment. They didn’t buzz me in until 11:15. This didn’t sit well with me, but I thought maybe it was because they were busy. But after surveying the waiting area, I was the only one there, and there was no one in the interview cubicles.
They shuffle me off to one of the computer rooms to take the Word, Excel, and Typing tests. They tell me those should take me roughly 90 minutes to finish. I was done in 55 minutes. They still left me there for the full 90 minutes.
They tell me to wait in the waiting room for a recruiter to come and get me. I waited another 30 minutes when a guy comes out all «I’m so sorry… blah blah blah… I was just on the phone with a potential employer for you… blah blah blah».
We sit there and have our «interview» for another hour. And it was silliness. He tells me I aced the computerized tests (duh!), and then he tells me my employment background, although heavy in the retail department, looks promising.
He then tells me that he had 5 or 6 companies he would like me to interview with. One of which he is pushing on me… I mean REALLY pushing. So I cave and say fine, I will interview with them. I get all the information, and I leave.
About 3 days later, I received a phone call from someone at Venturi to have a mock interview via the telephone with possible questions before my actual interview with said company. That lasted another 2 hours.
I had the interview with said company, didn’t get the job. But that was also the last I heard from Venturi Staffing Partners. I called them about a dozen times, was told they had a pile of jobs that looked promising. I gave them my availability for the interviews, they told me they would call me back. They never did. I tried calling them back for an update, and just got the run around.
Never again will I go through a staffing agency.
I gave them 2 stars because, although they weren’t good about contacting me, they were very thorough with their mock interviews. They had me right down my answers for the questions so I was prepared, and they took the time to go over the questions with me. I actually still use those questions to this day to prepare for interviews.

So, I’ve always figured putting false stuff in your resume is a no no. Apparently, it’s the one way to get a job you’re (over) qualified for.
Met with my recruiter for all of 15 minutes, to which she said, «Here’s what we’re going to do: Change X to Y and Z to B and then you’ll land this job, because I know you can». Problem was, I had zero interest in the job she was setting me up for, and the whole «falsifying thing» really rubbed me the wrong way. I had no interest in calling all of my previous employers and asking them to dumb me down in order to get a job I never really wanted in the first place, so I called my recruiter and left her a message that I wasn’t interested in pursuing the job further. I felt bad about the company, who definitely seemed into me and the company itself seemed very nice. .But it wasn’t a good fit for me.
Basically, I walked away from a job that was a shoe-​in because I felt bad about the misleading done by the recruiter and that I was no more of a fit for this job that I am for size 2 jeans. Did I mention that she completely changed my title on more than one previous jobs, and left me completely dumbstruck during the interview when they asked me, «So with Company # 2, you were in charge of _​_​_​_​_​?» Talk about catching me with my pants down…
So, two stars for calling me and getting me into an interview the next day. Negative three stars for making it so apparent that you work on commission, and that your sole objective is to place people — regardless of the fit — in order to earn a dime. In all fairness, I don’t know if this is a common recruitment practice, or simply a shady practice done by someone more interested in earning a commission.
