I love Sally’s but the girls working here all seem so unhappy. I research what I want before hand and go in and get out fast.

I was a devoted fan of Sally’s for about 18 years, when I’d discovered it after buying my home nearby. I was always thrilled to go in at a moment’s notice and find whatever I needed, in the company of a sweet, multi-racial and fabulously knowledgeable team. As I tend to buy ‘in bulk’, I would buy several of my favorite products(i.e. lots of revenue) for curly hair, and return when my supplies ran low. As ever, I went to my favorite shop to buy several bottles of neutralizing shampoo, only to find the place being haphazardly stocked by a manager without a clue re: anything. As I led her to the empty spot where the Revlon products had always been she first tried to sell me a completely inappropriate product and, only after I’d explained what the product was for, finally looked annoyed and said«No, we don’t have anything for ethnic hair.» Who knew that I’d been hallucinating all of these years-or that my hair was ‘ethnic’? Assuming that she’d been committed by now, I dropped by a few weeks ago to find a bunch of demoralized– looking people who had no more of a clue than the new manager, or whatever she was. So, after all of these years, I have to take my money and good will to Cambridge, where Venus Supply cares for ALLHAIR. Yikes. The original insult occurred last winter but, as a Customer Service professional who travels the country helping organizations ‘get it right’, I’m still so steamed by that remarkably unprofessional –and incorrect– remark that i had to say something.

Cheap prices, variety and good value for your money is what you will get at Sally’s. oh, and service with a cheerful attitude. All good qualities in a store. You will find your lower to middle end products, supplies and brands here. Not really any high end deals to be found here. If you are economizing you will find sufficient stand ins for your higher priced items if you are a savvy shopper and do some comparison shopping. If you are in the beauty industry they have discounts too.

Hair dye, nail polish, shampoo, conditioner, makeup… I love being a girl! Sally’s is the orgin of beauty supply stores. Her coupons come via email right on time. There’s always something that you don’t need to buy in the clearence bins that you buy anyway. I prefer this location because I like the drive through Newton. SN: Last time I was here there was a guy going AWOL because they didn’t have his proper tanning lotion color in stock. He said he needed to tan his legs. Was a sight to see.

As a DIY type of girl, I come in here every once in a while. I cut and dye my own hair, sew my hair extensions, do my own nails… and coming here is waaay cheaper than going to a salon. It’s hard to believe how much stuff is crammed into this little store! This is the only place I go to for falsies, because they have a wall of Andrea and Ardell lashes that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Plus, they exchange defective lashes with the receipt =) The store also has a good selection of hair dyes and toners, including a rainbow of colors from brands like Manic Panic and Beyond The Zone. I could go on and on about the products, but definitely check out the Batiste dry shampoo; they have it for $ 7 and it’s the perfect size for travel. The ladies who work here are very sweet and helpful. While I was there an older woman who was shopping asked for«black shaving cream, the kind black men use.» It was an awkward moment but they handled it gracefully. It’s a great store for what it is: a nice variety of beauty/hair supplies at affordable prices. The only thing that would make me happier– more nail tips, an even bigger variety in lashes, and better quality extensions!
