Stopped in to purchase a cake for a dinner party and walked out with a delicious-​looking vanilla bean cheesecake with raspberry topping.
It was such a hit! At least three people said it was the «best cheesecake ever!»
They didn’t have a huge selection of cakes, but I can understand that since I stopped in around 2pm on a Saturday. Was tempted to purchase a cookie (or two or three) but resisted, this time.
Will stop by again for something sweet when I’m back in the area.

Would I Go Again?
YES – I think this might quickly become my favorite bakery in the Walnut Creek area. That was easily the best coffee cake muffin I’ve ever had. It was baked to perfection. The stump was soft and moist and the top was dense with the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, etc. all baked together to form dense bites of sweet goodness. The sugar crumbs on top were also generous; however, they were not overpowering. Very important. The entire muffin was fantastic. The pumpkin scone was also delicious. It was drizzled with a generous and delicious cinnamon icing. I was so happy with what I tried on my first visit that I can’t wait to sample more of the menu!

I am so confused. This place was listed as closed, but on our way to the Walnut Creek Farmers Market just this last Sunday it was most certainly open. I had been wanting to try it and when I saw it was closed on Unilocal,I thought I had lost my chance. But there it was. We wheeled in. My husband ordered a coffee (decent) and several cookies to try. The ginger cookie was very good, very gingery and chewy (I love chewy ginger cookies). The chocolate crinkle cookie was ok, but not on par with many others we have had from other bakeries. We also tried an almond biscotti (good).
I was hoping for a little more selection from the place, hence the three stars. However, it is certainly worth another revisit.

I never saw this place before? I was walking towards Peet’s Coffee and saw the cappuccino writing on it’s door. Ding! Went in and ordered my cup of capp! I like how they made it, dry! I never had to ask it.
They have brownies, cupcakes and even cakes already at 7 in the morning. I didn’t get to try them, may be next time I come back here.

Good: The cheesecake with raspberry or cranberry glaze (depending on the season) is the best I’ve had!
Not so good: The cupcakes are ok (Kara’s much better) but overpriced. The cookies are very dry (Denica’s in Dublin puts this place to shame). Chocolate croissants do not have nearly enough chocolate (I love Sweet Affair). Don’t get a sweet tooth on Monday as they are closed.
Horrible: The service. The people who work here are not friendly. Even if you go in often (2+ times a week) and place large orders, they act like they don’t know you and you are bothering them.

When we walked in after lunch on a Saturday, there were a few plates set out with samples of 2 different items. I love samples!
Their chocolate chip & cream cheese cake (I think they called it a torte) was delicious. The chocolate cake was really moist and soft, and the cream cheese frosting was light and not too «cream cheese-​y» — perfect!
The brownie and the walnut brownie were pretty good with a crumbly texture (not the dense kind) — basically tasted like your standard can’t-fail brownie.

Although I’m not prone to public bursts of emotion, Miranda got an audible squee from me. I didn’t even know it was coming.
Eat the Evil Chocolate Tart.
Eat the chocolate crackle cookies.
The biscotti are perfect.
Walnut Creek Baking Company is one of my happy places.

My group shared ginger cookies and chocolate chip cookies with our coffee. The cookies were great and the coffee was pretty good too, but they ran out of a lot of stuff so I feel like that was weird for a Sunday. Because they are so close to the farmers market, wouldn’t you think that they would have soy milk? or iced coffee on a warm day? I didn’t even go that late either, it was only about 11am?
Anyways, I would definitely recommend this place and would go back, but it wouldn’t by my first choice to stop.

This place is fantastic it maybe small but boy I tell you everything here is great, I pretty much almost tried everything they had with no complaints, nothing I can say is bad. if anything they need to be bigger and open later …

I hate to bust anyones bubble but Walnut Creek Baking Company is SO NOT THE BUSINESS.
I chose them only because the reviews here on
were so wonderful that I thought if I’m going to test the cupcake craze I will try them out. Bad decision. Won’t be back again.
Ordered over the phone and the service was nice. Cupcakes for a 49 y.o. male birthday gathering. Not a problem you’d think, right? Right!!! I got 36 mini-​cupcakes in different flavors with different icings. Each cupcake had a monogrammed «K» on top in honor of the birthday boy.
Let me give them props for the flavorful cupcakes that didn’t taste like something baked out of a box. I will say… I want the recipes but due to presentation I may have to pass (picture of cupcakes coming soon).
Now the skinny… on the cupcakes. I walked in to the cute shop and they presented me with the tiniest cupcakes I’ve ever seen. They were about an inch in diameter and even for 36 of them, they didn’t even fill the box. I told the attendant «Cute, but that’s not going to do». Mind you they charged my account $ 72.00 for the tiny baby bite-​sized minions two days prior. YES! I SAID $ 72 US DOLLARS!!! I kept my composure and told her that the cupcakes were unacceptable and that I would not take them at that price even though they’ve already charged my account. I explained to her that I wouldn’t have chosen them if I had not found them on

Well that statement seemed to piqué her interest so she offered a cake to match at no additional charge. (picture to follow).
As I stated before… I will give them props for the flavor. The cake and the cupcakes were a hit.
But I will not entertain them again until their astronomical prices come back to Earth. Mind you… the monogram of the «K» was an extra $ 1 on each cupcake. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!, you ask. YEP!

My daughter and I decided to try out this new «Cupcake Craze» that has been going on. We picked out two places in Walnut Creek. The first place we tried was The Walnut Creek Baking Company. I had the Lemon Cupcake and my daughter had the Black Bottom Cupcake. Since I am not a cupcake aficionado I was not sure what to think or how to start. At first when you enter the bakery it is warm and inviting. We ordered our cupcakes; they warmed to room temperature for us. I ordered coffee and my daughter hot chocolate. When the coffee came it was in a real ceramic mug (What the?) I was expecting a cardboard like coffee cup. My daughter’s hot chocolate came in a mug too with a mountain of whipped cream.
The Lemon cupcake was light and airy and tasted like fresh lemons. The frosting was a lemon whipped cream and some yellow sanding sugar for texture. It was hard to take my time and eat it; I gobbled it down. The 2^nd cupcake was the Black Bottom; it was gooey yummy chocolate and cream cheese… although it was heavy it went really well with the coffee. Both of the cupcakes were very moist and flavorful. At this point we had no baseline to compare this tasting to… other than my Safeway cupcake experiences for birthday parties.
The place was warm, cozy, inviting and whispered… come in, sit down and take a load off. There a few tables and chairs available; it felt like a favorite café to unwind and read a book and enjoy

However, after we tried the cupcakes at Kara’s Bakery I could not believe anyone would put that dried up nothingness in their mouth. I will say that although I have only tried two cupcake bakeries… Walnut Creek Baking Company was by far the best. Not to mention you get to try free samples of their goodies which were delicious. I would recommend the Walnut Creek Baking Company for all of their baked goods.

I walked by this place when I was on my way to the Farmers’ Market. Excited to see this place because I had it bookmarked so I made a mental note to myself that I must stop by after.
I was greeted by a friendly lady. the storefront was clean. cookies and brownies and other sweet goods lined the front case. To your right, you’ll find the quiches, cupcakes, and actual cakes for birthdays and/​or other special occasions.
I was torn. After my fattening dinner yesterday, I did not want to get a cupcake although I think I should have because I am obsessed and addicted to cupcakes (only chocolate). After some light drooling, I ordered the Swiss cheese and spinach quiche and a cream cheese brownie.
Now the brownie was done as I was driving out of Walnut Creek. it was VERY moist, chewy, and soft. extremely delicious. seriously. I want one right now– right now! The quiche wasn’t that good in my eyes. it was too cheesy. the crust didn’t seem like it was fully cooked!
At the end– I would still be a returning and faithful customer.
CUPCAKES next time!

I visited Walnut Creek Bakery on a Friday morning around 8:30 to pick up a few treats for myself. The store was very easy to find and very clean. When I walked inside, I was quickly greeted and offered help, but I needed a few minutes to decide on what I wanted. They have most of your typical baked goods including: a variety of cookies, croissants, scones, cakes/​cupcakes.
I picked up:
–2 chocolate cookies: These had a nice chewy texture and a good amount of chocolatey-​ness. They were pretty good.
–2 ginger cookies: This was by far the best cookie. It was chewy and had bits of caramelized ginger. Very tasty and I would recommend this.
–2 snicker-​doodle cookies: These were pretty egg-​y tasting. I wish they had more cinnamon to them, but they were okay.
–2 macaroons: these come chocolate dipped or plain. I chose the plain macaroons and to describe them, they were «plain.» Very simple and not much flavor. I would skip them.
–1 cranberry scone: this scone was different than most scones I’ve had. It was very soft, much like cake. It was fluffy and kind of fell apart easily. It tasted pretty okay.
I believe all of the cookies were $ 1.25, which is totally fair and the scone was only a little bit more. They also serve a variety of coffee/​expresso drinks, but I was just in the mood for sweets.
Overall, the store is clean and the workers are friendly. They make pretty decent baked goods and everything tasted fresh. I don’t know when I’ll be back since I don’t live in Walnut Creek, but it was nice to try it out.
Notes:
–If you go earlier, like I did, before 9:00 am, you don’t need to feed the meter.
–The place is fairly small, but they do have a few tables/​chairs.
–Try the ginger cookie!

Cinzia and Reno went to the dentist last week. Their dentist gives them a little bag of goodies on their way out… toothbrushes, toothpaste, stickers, and… a coupon for a free cookie at Walnut Creek Baking Company, value up to $ 1.25.
At WCBC, $ 1.25 gets you one of the «basic» cookies, choc chip, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin, choc crackle, peanut butter, etc. The specialty cookies (holiday sugar and gingerbread run upwards of $ 2.50.) Cinzia picked the snickerdoodle, Reno, the sugar cookie. I snuck a crumb off each, and both were amazing, brought me back to childhood visits to my own bakery back in rural Michigan. Crispy, but still moist and chewy.
The holiday cookies were beautifully decorated, as were the cakes in the display. The coffee was Peets, in thermoses. But even at 3:30p, when they close at 4p (Saturday), the coffee tasted freshly brewed.
The cakes seemed small for the price (6″ four layer = $ 27 — $ 30) but I bet they’re damn tasty. The cheesecake looked amazing. My bday’s in June and I already know what I want. Vanilla bean cheesecake w raspberry glaze, please.
The menu also brags cupcakes, coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, muffins, scones, pies, quiches, biscotti, bars, brownies, tarts, croissants… I’m staying away from this place bc I just bought my first pair of high-​end jeans.
There’s about 5 tables inside, prolly one too many as they’re a bit crowded together.

Very friendly staff! My friends and I accidentally walked in after it was closed and the staff didn’t even say anything and they let us stay in shop and eat our cupcakes. I didn’t care for the frosting because I don’t like the texture of butter cream frosting, but otherwise it was pretty good and decently priced at $ 2.50.
The customer service here is great!

Stopped in on a mid day errand run, and coffee and a sweet snack sounded good. Hadn’t had lunch anyway so this ended up being my substitute. My husband went for a chocolate ganache cupcake and I saw this dense piece of apple cake that looked positively amazing… and…it was!
The top was crumbly and full of brown sugar and cinnamon and oh yes… butter…I know I know… just rub that baby right on my thighs, because that’s were it’s gonna end up… whatever. The cake part was moist and dense like I said earlier and even though it doesn’t look that big, it packs a punch. I was super full after eating it with a coffee. Oh so yummy, and fresh and nice since it wasn’t over the top sweet. I think my husband devoured his cupcake, but I was too involved with my love affair with my apple cake. Well worth a trip back. I think I ate every loose crumb too?

I was next door at Katy’s Kreek for brunch and saw this bakery. They had some samples of cookies which was nice. I decided to go with my gut and I got 2 of the mint chip cookies, 2 of the chocolate krackle cookie, and the Coffee Crumb muffin.
I thought the cookies were yummy, but I would pass on the Coffee Crumb muffin. I would definitely be back if I was in the neighborhood.

I was in the downtown area and I was hungry and wanted something baked and delicious. When I Googled bakeries in Walnut Creek on my phone, this was the first location that popped up. So there I went.
It’s a small, quaint place with two displays: one with various cupcakes and decorated cakes, and the other larger one with cookies, scones and a few breakfast foods. It was spacious, clean and cute. I’m not really a sweet-​food type of person (especially for breakfast), so I was sorely disappointed at the amount of «salty» choices they had (3 different types of croissants and a quiche you could only buy whole). There was no menu to look at except for coffees, and I was kinda disappointed at the amount of choices they offered considering this was the first bakery that popped up in Google.
I got a ham and cheese croissant, a cinnamon pastry with cream cheese topping and a decaf coffee. The girl put my pastries in to-​go backs (I intended on eating there), rang me up and walked to the back and I never saw her again. She was kinda rude and had an indifferent expression on her face the whole time. «Is that all?» «Anything else?» Geez.
I sat down and ate my croissant. It was okay, to say the least. The coffee was gross; seemed a little watered down but still kinda bitter. When you have places like A Sweet Affair with pastry choices as far as the eye can see just 5 minutes down Ygnacio, why even come here?

The cakes here really didn’t excite me much when I was looking for birthday cakes from my girlfriend but the rest of their offerings sure fit the bill.
Daughter and I shared a ginger cookie that can easily compete with Sideboard’s. We also had a chocolate chip cookie that was delicious and so worth the calories.
The customer service is stellar here and I really want to go back to try a croissant.
I am a fan for sure!

Can you say HEAVEN!!!
This place has been on my bookmark list for quite some time, so on my splurge day I decided to head on over to pick up some treats for myself and some family members.
I absolutely love the interior décor of this place! Bright, cheery like a sunny Easter afternoon with heavenly displays of some decadently, delicious looking treats, accompanied with some exceptionally personable and friendly service to match.
I had a Smore’s Tart pre ordered before I came in (they come in a 4 inch, 6 inch or larger, I got the small 4 inch for $ 6.00) and as I arrived they were just finishing. So while I was there, I got a few treats for myself to have the following day, as well for my family. I got two of there Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies, 1 Chocolate Cookie, 1 Ginger roo, and 1 Chocolate Crackle.
Well, first of all my Smores Tart was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Literally like taking a bite out of heaven– Whipped topping was fluffy with a settle sweetness, inner chocolate was rich and velvety smooth, and the graham cracker crust was perfect in texture soft, gentle and just melted in my mouth, overall a perfect 10!
The chocolate cream cheese muffin was superb in taste and quality however, my only complaint is that the ends were slightly hard as well as the bottom, me and my father who also had one agreed, other than that I can’t complain, far better than your typical bakery.
I also had a bite of the Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Ginger Crackle and both were good, not fantastic, but decent good.
This is definitely one of the better bakeries in the East Bay, and you know I will be back to try more of there decadent treats.
