The Express Grill at Pleasant Hill Bart

At $ 5.95 for a sandwich and soda, why not give it a try? This little food stand popped a few days ago, situated behind the Bart ticket machines, and is apparently an extension of the concession/​snack store next door. They serve a variety of lunch fare: burgers, kabobs, gyros, calzones, even some vegetarian-​friendly food too, and can take orders by phone.
I tried the the beef kabob sandwich for my first try. It probably took about 5 – 7 minutes to make, but I came around 1:30 when no one was around and they apparently shut down the grill so had to fire it back up. The guy who served my kabob had some problems wrapping it, but he’ll probably get that down eventually. I have to say that since I watched him take it out of the grill, the wrap looked disappointingly small (I finished it in the time it took to walk back to work). Well, at least there was almost some meat in every bite. It definitely comes with real sirloin steak — and while the texture was there, the flavor wasn’t quite there, and was rather tough, and maybe a tad gamey. The cucumbers and tomatoes drizzled with yogurt sauce were probably the best part of it. Well, I’ll probably give the other options a try for my next go-​around. Food options around this area stink, and are even worse after 1:30 (this place stays open till 2:30, according to their flyer).
The soda selection was a bit depressing as well, only pepsi, sierra mist — I guess, one gets what one pays for.
