This place is awesome! I have been coming here for years and never once been disappointed with the service, sandwiches or anything. I love this place!

Super nice people that work here. Caesar Salad Sandwich is great. Pesto Chicken– comes with avocado but they don’t have it listed on the menu!

Seriously amazing sandwiches. I would dock a star for the long lines and a less-than-comfortable atmosphere, but the food is fabulous, so it carries the rest of the place. Go at off times to avoid the lines. Once we waited for over 20 minutes to place our order. Probably longer… I may have blacked out from hunger.

Eh, I do think this place is a little over-rated. I’ve never not seen a long line here, but it does go fairly quick. About 3 tables inside to sit at, more tables outside. Park on the back, enter the deli through front or back. They have a wide variety of chips to choose from. Egg salad sandwich ftw.

BEST sandwiches in Contra Costa County, hands down, no competition, Genova doesnt even come close… having said that, they lose a star for the unbelievable lines and poor customer service. Theyu know they make bomb ass sandwiches; they know they biggest time is lunch and yet they dont staff enough and for that laziness/cheapness i deduct a star. There is no menu online but a reviewer below has taken a picture of the first page of the menu; if i get a chance ill grab a menu and take a picutre of the second page which includes salads etc. I highly rec this place but unless your lunch break is an hour, i wouldnt even attempt to come here lest you burn most of your time waiting.

Popeye and olive oil added turkey and avocado… Soooo bomb. On ciabatta per the recommendation of the worker. Homemade pesto was on point n u can’t go wrong with the spinach. The other two were California clubs. One with no tomatoes and onions but used garlic spread instead of special dressing and with sourdough. The club was on ditch crunch with no onions. All so good. Everyone was so friendly. Line out the door but it was fairly fast. The workers despite the chaos of orders always had smiles and were so patient. I wanna go back tomorrow! Lol too bad it’s kinda far. Maybe next week!

You know it’s a local favorite when there’s always a line out the door. I found Morucci’s when looking for a Jewish deli in the east bay. Unfortunately, this was the closest thing I could find. The bread is always fresh and there are a lot of options be it sandwiches, soups or salads. I got the #6 ½(tomato, mozzarella, and prosciutto). The mozzarella tomato was a little over dressed with balsamic vinaigrette but the ingredients themselves are good.

One of the best sandwiches I ever had in my life! It’s fun to come with a group of people, because they sell full-sized chips and liter sodas! :) Make sure you get there early because the line gets super long.

My friend is a sandwich lover. Recently, I have made it my informal mission to find best sandwiches in Walnut Creek and that’s how I came to know Morucci’s of Walnut Creek. I ordered the fresh Mozzarella with pesto sauce on Dutch Crunch and my friend ordered the Cheese, Avocado and Sprouts on Dutch Crunch. My sandwich was clearly superior sandwich of two. Mine was incredibly delicious — meaty slices of tomato, soft pieces of mozzarella, drizzled in olive oil/pesto, a hint of basil. The sandwich was clean and so nice. All ingredients stayed at their place. My friends sandwich was little messier — I thought mustard was little overpowering; however overall her sandwich was also quite good, although not quite as exceptional like mine. My biggest regret is that unluckily I have come to know about that restaurant bit late. In my opinion, Morucci’s of Walnut Creek is hands-down my favorite place to get Sammy in Nor Cal and with its 5* rating, apparently lots of visitor of this store will share my view. All of the Morucci’s sandwiches include mayo, mustard, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, pickles, sprouts and onions on a choice of wheat, sourdough, white, Dutch crunch bread or soft roll. Or you can ask for their specialty sandwiches. But no matter what you order, I am quite certain that will you leave this restaurant with more complete satisfaction and an urge to come back again.

We had Moruccis yesterday as we were in the area and I’ve raved about it being the best bag for the buck sandwich place in a very expensive town. We got there around 2pm on a Sunday and the line was about 15 people deep. A testament to their popularity for sure. We ordered a roast beef on wheat and an Italian on white bread. The works on both. I’d have to say that both sandwiches were above average but I’ve had better. Most disappointing was the roast beef, said my fiancé. But remember she’s from NY where her standard is places like Katz’s and all their almost as good competitors in Manhattan. My Italian could’ve been better had I ordered it on a roll vs just toasted white bread. I know, what were you thinking Coreano? Despite these things, I’ll still give it a 4. Bob

Binky Bear is a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE sandwich lover. Recently, I’ve made it my unofficial mission to find the best sandwiches in our area(is Binky a lucky man or what???). The good reviews at Morucci’s are overwhelming — so much so that Binky and I were excited(x1000) to come to this modest location this past weekend. I ordered the #6(Fresh Mozzarella) with the pesto sauce on Dutch Crunch and Binky ordered the #15(Avocado, Sprouts, and Cheese) on Dutch Crunch. My sandwich was CLEARLY the superior sandwich of the two. The #6 is INCREDIBLY delicious — soft pieces of mozzarella, meaty slices of tomato, a hint of basil, drizzled in olive oil/pesto — WOW. The sandwich was so nice and clean — all the ingredients stayed in place. Binky’s sandwich was a little messier — I thought the mustard was a little overpowering. His sandwich was also very good, although not quite as mind blowing as the #6. My biggest regret is that unfortunately, Binky and I had to wait several hours after we bought the sandwiches to eat for dinner(we were so full from lunch). Eating the sandwiches when the bread had hardened a little and the ingredients had sogged together wasn’t fun — all in all, however, we were still very impressed by the flavors/freshness of the sandwiches at Morucci’s. I’m already anticipating our next visit!

Worth stopping by. 30minute wait at noon on the weekend even though the line was out the door + #8 Pastrami was fantastic. Pastrami packed the right amount of punch and has amazing flavor ~ Girlfriend got #6 with avocado as a vegetarian option and enjoyed it ~ These are huge sandwiches. Be prepared for leftovers

Morucci’s is a staple for the local area. It’s a popular lunch destination with its fair prices and tasty sandwiches. It’s a favorite mandatory stop-by for college students coming back for break. It’s what my high school chose to have catered for Senior Day out… etc, etc, you get what I’m saying here. I’ve been coming here for years and I have to say its my favorite sandwich spot. I’ve tried other people’s «favorite sandwich spots» and they are just never quite as good as Morucci’s(Genova delicatessen does come close though). Small parking lot in the back and ample street parking. When you come in through the back, they are most likely making a fresh batch of bacon that’ll get your mouth watering as you decide what you want. The lunch line can get pretty long but the turn around is fairly quick. You go up to the counter, tell the person what sandwich you want(look at the menu beforehand, you order by menu number). Then, grab a drink from the fridge or snag a bag of chips from the shelves and go to the cashier to pay. Your sandwich will come out shortly after. My general favorite: 6 and ½. Prosciutto with fresh mozarella, basil, tomato, olive oil, vinegar, and roasted red peppers. I always consider ordering something else but, when I do, I always regret not just sticking to my tried and true. However, the other sandwiches that I have tried are always good(the 6.5 is just the best ;) that’s all)

I love how the story goes that the 4th Earl of Sandwich created the sandwich because he was a prolific gambler that did not want to leave the gaming table to eat supper. My kind of noble! Now, I eat a lot of sandwiches because like the Earl of Sandwich, a lot of times I just do not have time to eat a regular meal… Fortunately, in the Bay Area, there are a plethora of sandwich shops and delis to satisfy my hunger because no one wants to see me hangry! From Little Luca’s in Burlingame to Spiteri’s in Chico, from Genova in Oakland to Arguello’s Supermarket in San Francisco… even the chains that include Ike’s, Mr. Pickle’s, and Capriotti’s… seriously, I have pretty much tried them all. But in my opinion, Morucci’s is hands-down my favorite place to get a sammy in NorCal. And with its 5-star rating, apparently a lot of Unilocalers share my view. Therefore, expect a long-ass-fucking-line if you arrive during lunch time. Everyone from office workers to pimply high school kids ditching school can be found here. However, do not be discouraged because you can find plenty of free street parking(unlike Downtown Walnut Creek) and the line moves fast due to the efficient and friendly sandwich artists employed at Morucci’s. All of Morucci’s sandwiches include mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, peppers, onions, and sprouts on a choice of wheat, white, sourdough, ciabatta, foccacia, soft roll or Dutch crunch bread. Or you can get one of their specialty sandwiches. My favorites have to be the #8 hot steamed pastrami with melted Swiss, the #6 ½ prosciutto with tomato mozzarella, and the #6 ¾ roasted turkey with tomato mozzarella. Moreover, what makes Morucci’s undoubtedly popular is that their sandwiches are priced reasonably at around $ 6.99. As I mentioned before, Morucci’s has various bread options. However, you have to get their sandwiches on Dutch crunch. For people outside the Bay Area, you probably have never heard of Dutch crunch. And before I relocated to the Bay Area, I had no idea what the fuck it was. Well, Dutch crunch, also known as Tiger bread in the Netherlands, is bread that is painted with rice paste prior to baking. As the paste dries and cracks it gives the bread its distinctive flavor and creates a crusty exterior with a soft inside. And for some reason, Dutch crunch really does make Morucci’s sandwiches taste better! So if you are in Walnut Creek, I highly recommend Morucci’s because this place is a sure«bet» that even the Earl of Sandwich would’ve approved of… After all, everywhere else in Walnut Creek sucks or is overpriced for no other reason than to be pretentious. * Morucci’s is located west of Downtown Walnut Creek on the west side of 680. If you drive past the 7-Eleven then you have gone too far.

If you’re in Walnut Creek and craving a sandwich, check out Morucci’s! My two favorites are«smokey the bird» and«the natural» Smokey the bird: smoked turkey, with sprouts, brie cheese, and sweet hot mustard(I like getting this on ciabatta) The Natural: cream cheese, avocado, black olives, tomatoes, walnuts, sprouts, lettuce, on whole wheat. The sandwiches here are about $ 7 If you don’t fax in your order ahead of time or come early, you’re going to be standing in a long line during the lunch rush, but they keep the line moving quickly. Street parking can also be a bit tricky when they’re busy. I can’t say that this is the best sandwich shop that I’ve ever been to, but it’s pretty amazing. I tend to come here more often when the weather is nicer since I like eating outside at one of their outdoor tables.

This is one of the BEST deli’s in the East Bay area! The food is so fresh and delicious down to the very last crumb! I have tried their California Club, Prosciutto and Mozzarella and the Hot Pastrami sandwich. My favorite between the three is the prosciutto for sure, I love me some mozzarella! I have also had their spinach salad –BOMB! Be fair warned if you decide to come here for lunch, there is ALWAYS a line and it’s usually out the door. Although it moves pretty quickly, I would say plan to go during non standard lunch times; 11AM or 2PM. The shop is fairly small but there’s ample seating outside, kind of café style. I actually forgot about this place until recently and am kicking myself for not coming more frequently since I live close. Treat yourself to a real sandwich from the best deli in the East Bay and check out Morucci’s — I promise your belly will thank you for it! P. S. No matter how hungry I am, I always have leftovers! I usually take half my sandwich home with me. Good sized sandwiches! The salads are also huge!

One of the BEST sandwich spots and such a beloved favorite. Think of Morucci’s as one of those best kept secret hidden gems that only local folk or old high school friends know about… That’s what makes this place special. Their sandwiches are COMPLETELY affordable and you get the quality bang for your buck! Their lunch rush gets pretty crowded, but they whip out your sandwiches pretty fast. Everything I’ve tried on their menu has been appetizing. I usually go for the veggie, non-meat options, and they are very generous with their portions. You can expect to spend $ 6 – 9 bucks per sandwich. I prefer this over Ike’s – more options, fresh ingredients and a true small business who knows what they’re doing to keep customers happy and coming back for more. The ½ sandwich-½ salad deal is lovely as well… I fell in love with their house salad which is the FRESHEST spring mix with feta, cranberries, walnuts, celery and vinaigrette. Choose your own sandwich and it’s a perfect lunch. Friendly, efficient staff. Snacks and chips everywhere(tempting pick-me-up and perfect pairing with a sandwich). Fresh pastry case, deli salads, hot and iced coffee espresso bar options as well. This place is worth a visit and – trust – once you come here, there’s a good chance this will become your new and beloved go-to sandwich stop.

The pastrami sandwich… yes! With a few caveats. Moruccis makes its pastrami the old way and it reminds me of the New York delis. Too many delis around here make their pastrami too lean and too dry. Fatty and a bit greasy is how pastrami sandwiches are supposed to be. And moruccis does it right. Okay, now for the weird part of this sandwich. Swiss cheese? Lettuce, tomato etc? Ciabatta bread? All wrong but things that you can ask to leave off. As for the bread — needs to be a kaiser/bulky roll. Service was nice, efficient and fast even though the line was long and to be door. Don’t let it scare you off. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors, even on a Saturday at noon. Just wish I lived closer so I could come more often!

What a sandwich! This was our second time here. I puruse the menu on Unilocal before we go and my mouth waters. I dare any sandwich lover to read this menu and not get hungry. The #8 add pesto on dutch crunch was my choice this time and it did not disappoint. The line is always out the door but goes suprisingly fast. No matter which sandwich you choose I highly reccommend adding their homemade pesto.

I looooooooove sandwiches and Morucci’s definitely does not disappoint. The 6 ½ is my favorite because it has prosciutto and prosciutto is the BEST. It also has pesto on it, which is the most amazing flavor combination. The ciabatta bread of this sandwich is perfect and the fresh mozzarella works wonderfully with it as well. For the sake of comparison, it’s not as big as an Ike’s sandwich, but it is more affordable. Service here is not the best, but they do get you your sandwich pretty quickly. Plenty of street parking and there is a little parking lot in the back, I think. Overall, I think this is the best local sandwich place in the Lamorinda area for sure!
