This place is a must for anyone that wants a good breakfast for a good price. It is a small place that serves your food quick. Stop by and check Ricks out.

Great breakfast spot. Not too big but there are a decent amount of seats there. It’s a little cramped when it gets busy hit nothing unbearable. I had the Hungry Man breakfast and it was great. A lot of food. Scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and two large pancakes. The service was great and the food came out quick. Parking lot fills up quickly when it’s busy.

This is my second bad review for ricks. The service is completely terrible. The waitresses are complete clueless of who they are serving and what is going on. I tried this place again to see if anything has changed and nothing at all has changed. Unbelievably this place has gotten worse, today after a while of waiting I received half of my order and my pier I was with didn’t get there whole meal, They forgot the eggs and toast on my meal and they forgot the home fries for my pier. This restaurant is unbelievably bad and Don’t even get me started on the old waitress. This place better improve or anyone will return.

I knew they had good service when I was greeted at the door by a woman holding two menus in her hand. She had seen us get out of the car and was waiting and ready. That standard was maintained throughout the meal. The restaurant has huge windows that make it feel larger than it is and they clearly have a high standard of cleanliness. The seafood melt sandwich was delicious and(unlike a number of places) had a significant amount of meat in it.

Don’t trust anyone who doesn’t love this place. It’s exactly what you think of in the breakfast restaurant industry. Quick, reasonable with great portions. Wait staff is courteous, fast and attentive to the level of coffee in your cup. Sandy P complained about the blandness but she fails to realizes she’s not eating at the plaza hotel. I challenge her to find a place at the same price point with the same portion of food that is better. Dad’s is similar but portions aren’t as generous nor is the menu as comprehensive. Ricks is great and is a must go too.

I’m going against the grain with this review. We went on a Sunday morning around 8am. We didn’t have to wait for a table but did get the table for two near the toilets. Service was quick. Coffee was so-so(they did come around and fill it often). I ordered the hungryman’s special(two eggs over medium with bacon, home fries, two pancakes and homemade toast) and my friend ordered an omelette with cheese and mushrooms. Food came out quickly. First the pancakes: they were as huge as the plate. I was disappointed with the syrup dispenser which was actually a plastic container like you’d use for mustard. I wondered how they could clean it well and if they just kept filling it with more syrup every day. The pancakes seemed a bit rubbery and chewy. The hash browns had a funky grill taste too them, either the grill had a funky taste or they were not using good oil. The bacon, while crisp, also had the same funky grill taste. The eggs were perfectly over medium and I didn’t notice any funky tastes. The homemade bread was Italian bread that tasted like white bread. Not worth the extra quarter for it. My friend said the omelot was ok, the mushrooms were fresh. She noticed the same funky tastes with the hash browns and bacon. Overall I wouldn’t go back. That said, they do give you a lot of food and the service is quick. The place is busy.

Nice cozy breakfast joint(cozy = busy) If you like hustle and bustle in the morning this is the place for you Food nothing to complain about. More than Adequate. Didn’t find it exceptional. Service if good. I go there intermittently due to the coziness. At times I like peace during breakfast

Just had ricks for the first time the other day. Let me start off by saying it was a very cold day in CT but that is no excuse for the restaurant being that cold inside. Several customers complained. I am no contractor but almost the whole restaurant is windows. The windows looked very old. They need another source of heat. The place itself is in need of some updating and the tables are on top of one another. As for the food, I got an omelet which was very good and came with home fries and toast. All for under 9 bucks pretty decent value. Service was good and fast. The soda was flat though. However, I don’t think this place is worth the rating it gets on Unilocal

Bad! Eggs Benedict the worst I ever had. Hubby had an omelette bad too. Corned beef hash the worst. I don’t even think CAN corned beef taste as bad as their corned beef. About 5 years ago I came to Rick’s and it was great. Today it was bad. Never going back

I loved this place. I would give it a 5 but I was so cold because I had to sit next to the door. However, that is extraneous circumstances. I had an egg white vegetable omelet with American cheese and fruit. My breakfast was delicious and I would certainly come back here. What I enjoyed the most was the staff. The place was super pack but I didn’t feel it because all servers came to the table to fill my water or my coffee. My plate was cleared as soon as I finished. The service was fast and I didn’t wait long for my food. This was an awesome dining experience. Come to Rick’s on 5 and enjoy great service and good food.

Breakfast menu was good and enjoyed my meal. Cheryl was attentive and helpful in helping me order an alternative option for not getting flour.

Had the power burger and sweet potato fries. Fries were good, not too greasy. The burger was fresh, bun was good and ingredients were tasty. The burger didn’t have much flavor though, couldve used more seasoning and I believe it was steamed. Great service and food was prepared quickly. Very very affordable prices. Would go again, I just had higher expectations.

77 reviews and a near perfect rating; and now I can be another advocate who knows why! My friend and I were looking for a brunch place for us to meet up in the Wallingford area. First, we were contemplating going to IHOP, but upon reading the reviews on Unilocal for Rick’s, I was convinced that we had to try this place! It was probably our best decision all week. The atmosphere was very home-y and cozy. The service was very good – pleasant waitress, who made sure our drinks were always full. I was also baffled by how quickly our food came out! It was a very pleasant surprise, given how busy the restaurant was. We decided to get something savory for each of us(he the chicken marinara quesadilla and I the Philly overstuffed omelette) and to share their new item, the cannoli crêpe. The cannoli crêpe was probably the best decision we made all week! We were astounded by the portion sizes. In comparison to the price and taste, I think this was probably the best-valued restaurant I’ve ever been to! Everything was delicious. Like REALLY delicious. I can only think of two cons to this place: 1) the long line in trying to get a table, which, I guess, is dependent on what time you get there and 2) the lack of parking space. Overall, I had a wonderful experience burnching at Rick’s. I will definitely make the drive down from West Hartford again for this place!

Rick’s is our go-to breakfast(sometimes lunch) spot. Consistently good food, generous portions and amazing service. Their home made toast is a God send and the coffee splendiferous, yes splendiferous. Parking is tight and expect a queue on the weekends, but it’s well worth the wait.

We decided to head to Rick’s for breakfast one Sunday morning. There was a bit of a wait, but it was a nice morning so we didn’t mind waiting outside. Once a table was free, things moved quickly. The staff had us seated and with drinks in just moments. Everyone is so friendly! Even though they’re busy, everyone who works there was hustling and had smiles on their faces. I ordered the country scramble with bacon and honestly my only complaint would be that it was too much food! Very big portions at Rick’s…which is a plus for most people. The scramble was excellent… hot and fresh, with loads of crisp bacon and cheese. My husband got the Hammy’s Favorite — eggs, ham and cheese on grilled texas toast. Also huge, but very tasty! The home fries were also very good, and I really don’t like home fries very often. Instead of a flavorless pile of mush, these were slightly crispy and full of flavor. They felt and tasted freshly made, rather than feeling like they had been sitting in a pile of grease on the grill all morning, as can be the case with some breakfast joints. I felt bad leaving half the plate uneaten, and even worse that I didn’t want to take it home, but eggs just don’t reheat well. We will definitely go back to Rick’s for the great service and to try some of the other tasty looking items on the menu!

When I moved to this area my goal was to find a great breakfast place, my fellow Unilocalers did not steer me wrong with this place. I was thrown off though because it is located directly next door to another well reviewed breakfast joint. I wonder how and why that happened? That takes balls. The food here is your typical higher end diner breakfast food but where they shine is their uncanny ability to have your food at your table prior to you ordering it. It’s quite impressive. I’ve never ordered something and have had it freshly cooked and plated in such a quick manner. Comfort food, absolutely fair pricing. Go, enjoy the most important meal of the day without breaking the bank.
